What if they were real? rated 16+ (just in case any adult themes come up)

John was not impressed by the race. And this code of honor? What place was there for honor in a fight? If you fought with honor, you expected your opponent to do the same. That was weak. But John didn't feel the need to call him out on this. He would learn soon enough.
"Foot racees mean nothing. There are better and faster ways to build a pokemon's speed and endurance. My team is only capable of what they are because of the intense training they recieve. You might want to think the same way if you are serious. And to answer your question, let's go check into the hotel so I can dump my bag then go eat!" John said.
"Yeah! I'm starved!" Shadow chimed in, sounding a bit more like her old self.
"Just stay away from the drinks and you should be fine," John murmered to her, causing her to give what almost could be a blush. It seemed she was well aware of what a fool she'd been making of herself.

((OOC: Nice post, except for one small thing. My character never mentioned anything about his Code of Honor to John. He thought of it, yes, but he didn't say it. How could John know what Earl was thinking?))

Earl merely sighed at John as Leonidas' face turned a bit of a shade of purple. He was getting furious at this John fellow, but Earl just shook his head and patted Leonidas' head.

"You do your thing, and I will do mine. Are there better ways? Yes, there are, but what we did is what we are starting with because those methods are tried and true for the early stages. Maybe when they are much stronger, we will begin those harder methods," said Earl as he bit the tip of his right thumb while looking at John. Leonidas saw this and began bursting with laughter, almost falling off of Earl's shoulder. It was obvious he got the reference, which Earl had told him not too long ago. "Plus my fellow man, Pokemon are not machines. They are living creatures with emotions just like you and me. They only thing they require of us is helping them unlock their full potential, and in return, they help us unlock ours."

With his piece said, Earl began looking around. There were only a few Pokemon-friendly hotels around here, but Earl knew of one, which was the one he stayed in last night.

"There's a hotel not too far from here known as the Fairview Inn. It's a bed and breakfast that's also Pokemon-friendly, so we shouldn't have problems, right?"

Not really waiting on an answer, Earl started heading towards 734 Fairview Street, which was where the inn was at.

(OOC: John didn't know what he was thinking. But it's pretty obvius that they follow some kind of code of honor from the way Earl treated them at the start of that footrace, lining up and all that. But I'll do better next time.)

"Whatever. I really don't care. I was just offering. And this place better have enough room in the room for Cinder to stretch out in," he said. He followed Earl to this hotel they were going too. John glanced at Shadow. His mind returned to his capture by Israel. He was going to get back at him. He had lost that first battle, but he would not lose again! That piece of trash had joined the HA! There was no way John was going to tolerate that! His mind turned again to the HA. He smoldered with anger at what they did to him. And what they did to Cinder and Nida. Because after John had examined Nida, he had found little scars on her. He assumed she had been the result of some kind of lab experiment, probably something that had something to do with why she wouldn't evolve. He wondered if they had recovered from the destruction he had left behind. Probably. They were probably after him even as he thought these things. He had just a few words for them.
"Let them come," he said to himself with a smile. He was going to absolutely destroy them when he did. He hoped they would send that brat Israel. Then he would solve two problems at once!

"You say something honky?" asked Earl as he turned his head a little but he wasn't stopping. This way he could see where he was going and John as Earl took a turn. They weren't that far now.

Leonidas, in the meanwhile, had been staring behind him at Shadow the Zorua. It was seeming he had gained a bit of a crush on the little darling. He then waved, smiling his toothy grin at her. Hopefully she noticed.

((OOC: OH! I gotcha. I didn't see what you did there at first. Now I do.))

(OOC: XD Honky!)

"Honky?" John asked, stunned by the word. He had known it was used back in the day. He had no idea people still said it! Shadow looked like she was about to burst out laughing.
"Honky? Honky honky honky!" she said before she burst out giggling. She was still a little drunk, so John could forgive her. She was also oblivious to the totodile looking at her. She rolled in John's arms, still laughing.
"Do you even know what that means?" John asked her.
"Nope! But it sounds funny!" she said, still giggling madly. John shrugged. He noticed the totodile trying to get Shadows attention and ignored him. He didn't care if the dumb thing liked her or not. If she liked him, he wouldn't care. If she didn't and he kept trying, then he would get annoyed. But, John would let him try.

((OOC: I had to! XD It was the perfect situation, and with the way my character acts and talks, I thought it would be suitable for Earl to call John one.))

"Yeah, and that's your nickname until you can gain some manners, Honky," said Earl as he decided he liked the name for John. It was suitable afterall. Leonidas even got a kick out of it as he laughed while he turned around on Earl's shoulder to see where they were going. All Leonidas really wanted tonight was a steak and a bed.

"Well, here we are Honky," said Earl as he stopped in front of a nice sized inn. It looked a bit like an old southern plantation. You know, those Victorian era looking houses? The outside of said in was done in a traditional white paint while the shutters for the window were a deep blue. As Earl opened the door, he motioned for John to get in. "You first sir."

"Honky? Right. I may have to teach you some respect before the end. And you need to learn to speak better. Your accent is terribly thick and it makes you sound dumb. Oh, wait, your accent has nothing to do with that, does it? Outta my way!" John said as he strood in the inn. It was a pretty nice place, John supposed. He glanced at Shadow, who was still mumbling honky and laughing to herself. He waited for Earl to walk in and show him where to go. This was nothing like the hotels he had been in back in New York.

Earl merely laughed at John as he walked in, deciding he would let that one slide, but he needed to say one thing. "Alright, but you be careful boy. Some people 'round here wouldn't like that kind of talk, so please be nice, especially to the owners of this place. They happen to be friends of my family, and we would both get a damn good discount if you keep a lid on it."

Earl then walked over to the marble-stone counter as he saw the owners, who were delighted to see Earl again. They loved his company and were always thrilled to hear his tales of traveling around with Pokemon. They also like the fact he wasn't like most teenagers in that he actually wanted to talk to them and learn from them. "Mrs. Thomas, I need both of your Pokemon suites tonight. I got a friend over there who has some Pokemon as well."

"Oh dear child, after such splendid conversations you had with us last night even though you were tired? Bless you. So, would you like to pay now, discounts added of course?"

"Yes mam," said Earl as he took out his wallet, and without even looking handed her more than enough money to pay for the rooms. "Keep the change Mrs. Thomas," said Earl as he was handed the keys along with several words about how nice he was. He then walked back to John, observing the French and Southern decor of this place. It always reminded him of his lovely home in New Orleans, but that didn't matter at the moment. He and John needed to check out their rooms.

"Our rooms are outside and around the back. Follow me."

Without even to see if John was following, Earl went out the front door and headed to the back, where two small French cottages were standing. They were both big for a trainer and any of his Pokemon... Well almost any Pokemon. A Wailord wouldn't fit in one of those things afterall.

"Here we are Honky."

"Whatever," was all John said as he followed Earl. He put on his best 'I'm a nice guy face' and said nothing as Earl talked with the lady and paid for the rooms. John had just said he would pay for his own, but Earl was set on it, or so it seemed. John decided to bring it up later. He followed Earl out to some little cottages. He was a tad bit impressed by them. Those were the Pokemon suites? He could get used to this.
"Whatever. Now, how much do I owe you for my room? And give me my key so I can dump this stuff and go," John said. Shadow looked up at the two. They were so weird! Why wouldn't they just be friends! They already liked each other! Why couldn't they just be nice, like John was to her?

((OOC: I guess this could be one of those friendships where the two just keep on saying crap to each other. XD))

"You owe me nothing Honky. Now, you get the one on the right, and I am on the left," said Earl as he handed John the key to his cottage while Earl went to his. As soon as he opened the door the smell of apples and cinnamin mixed with a hint of lavender hit his nose and relaxed him immediately. Let John say his crap. Earl was gonna have a good night tonight as he sat his suitcase on the black leather couch. The cottage itself had a contempory interior, completely contradicting the rural appearance of the exterior. Noting the fifty inch flat screen high-definition television, Earl took his Pokemon's Pokeballs out of his suitcase and placed them in his pocket.

"What do you think Leonidas? Monte's? Or The Shack?" asked Earl as Leonidas didn't even hesitate with his answer.

"Dile Totodile!"

"Figured you would say The Shack. We'll let John decide though, since you and I are southern gentlemen," said Earl as Leonidas slightly pouted, but he quickly gained back his toothy smile. Either way, he got his steak tonight.

"Hey Honky," said Earl as he walked out of the cottage and locked it up. "Hurry up!"

(OOC: Maybe.)

John took his key and went to the house that was indicated. He opened it up and was deeply impressed by what he saw. He dropped the bag on his bed and pulled out some nice clothes. If Earl wanted to go some place nice, like a steak restaurant, the least John could do was look presentable. He set Shadow down on the bed and changed into the gray polo shirt and black slacks. His shoes looked nice enough that he didn't need to change them. He walked over to the mirror and brushed his hair out of his face where he had let it hang. He grimaced at the three very visible scars on his cheek. He turned around and saw Shadow digging in his bag.
"What are you doing?" he asked. She giggled and pulled out a ribbon that was the same color red as his hair.

"I want to wear this!" she said. He nodded and brushed her coat down. He could hear Earl yelling at him to hurry up, and ignored him. This was more important than that fool. After he finished brushing her, he tied the ribbon into a neat bow around her head. She grinned up at him with love, and he picked her up. Now he was ready. He opened the door and walked outside, then closed it and locked it after making sure his pokemon were all on his belt. He glanced at Earl.
"What?" he said, as though he didn't know the answer already. He had gone into the cottage a fiery haired trainer with a rugged looking Zorua that had been in many battles, and looked it. He came out a red-haired sophisticate with a stunning Zorua to match him. The transformation was nothing short of a miracle.

"Tsk tsk tsk... If only you had some manners, then you might get a date," said Earl as Leonidas' jaw dropped upon seeing Shadow in her red ribbon. She looked amazing to him. Leonidas quickly snapped out of it as he turned to Earl, poking him in the neck and then whispering to him something...

"Ah. So, you want one like mine?" asked Earl, having seen the way Leonidas had looked at Shadow. Leonidas just nodded his head as Earl smiled. "Maybe my friend. Maybe."

With that, Earl looked at the gold pocket watch in his right pocket. It was almost eight already, evident by the darkening sky. "So John," said Earl as he straightened out his shirt and dusted off his fedora hat. "We have two options. We could go to Monte's, where the steaks and seafood are amazing, but most of the people in there look at guys like us and our Pokemon and turn their noses up. Then we have The Shack, where rock, jazz, and blues music is bumping, people and Pokemon are dancing, the food is just as good as Monte's, and everybody treats you like a brother."

((OOC: Imagine that being said by Doc Holliday (played by Val Kilmer) from the movie Tombstone. That's what Earl sounds like. XD))

(OOC: I'll be your hucklebary! Though I think I spelled that wrong :P It's a great movie, one of my favorites!)

Shadow giggled at the totodile's reaction. John mearly smirked at the pair in front of him.
"I do have manners. I just don't use them when I don't want to. I don't feel like breaking someone's nose right now, so we can go to the Shack," John said.
"Yeah! That sounds like fun! Let's go!" Shadow said. She looked at John and was about to leap to the ground and turn into Shadia, but John looked at her.
"Don't try it. I can tell you still aren't feeling well. Remember how sick it made you feel last ime?" John said. Shadow looked up at him. she did remember, now that he had said it.
"I hate this!" she moaned.
"You're the one that ate that pinpkin," John pointed out. He pet her head a little and she cheered up.

((OOC: Oh freakin sweet man! You don't find too many Tombstone fans anymore. *BOOM!* Duuuuuuuuuude... PM me. I gots an idea.))

"The Shack it is!" said Earl, even more charismatic than usual as he motioned for John to come on. Earl then began his walk towards The Shack, but not before he stopped, remembering something.

"Let me warn you first Honky, we're going towards the other side of Jackson where stuff happens. If said stuff happens, keep a hand on a Pokeball and don't hesitate. Now, if you keep that temper in check and manners polished, there should be no problem. Now..."

Just then, a black '69 Ford Mustang, fully restored, drove by Earl. It then hit the brakes and backed up, the passenger-side window rolling down as it did so.

"Earl man! What is up playa?!" said an African-American individual in the car with a southern accent a bit different than Earl's. Earl only smiled as he saw his old friend, who happened to be dressed in a wonderful purple tux with a matching fedora hat.

"Well I'll be dang, if it ain't ol' Richie. What is up my dark-skinned brother," said Earl as he shook hands with Richie. "Man, shoot, I'm just heading to The Shack. Want a ride?" asked Richie as Frank Sinatra's "My Town" came from his car speakers.

"The question is if my friend over here can get a ride as well," said Earl, leaning to the side and pointing at John. Richie simply smiled at John. "Dude, if he cool with you, he can ride. Any friend of Earl's is a friend of Richie's," said Richie as Earl hopped in the passenger seat through the window while Leonidas' head bobbed with the tune.

"Hop in Johnny-boy! We gonna party tonight!" said Earl, pointing at the back seat.

((OOC: After you post, want me to time skip to the next morning? Or do you want Earl and John to party? Oh, and you did spell it wrong. It's actually Huckleberry. :P))

(OOC: You can time skip to the next morning.)

"If you expect me to keep my temper in check that drop that honky nonsense. And I spent half my life in some of the worst parts of New York. They call that city the Big Apple, but it's more like the Rotten Apple," John said cheerfully. That was the most about his past that he had ever told anyong. Just then an awesome Mustang rolled up and a man called out to them. John was about to tell him off when he realized he was one of Earl's buddies. The two of them were talking about partying. John grinned when Earl told him to hop in. He did so without a second thought. He was going to have fun tonight.
"Hell yeah! Let's go!" John said. Shadow grinned up at him happily. That was more like it!

((OOC: Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd... BAM! Time Skip.))

"Man..... That was something," said Earl as he woke up and looked over at the bedside clock. "Ten o' clock? Dang man, I overslept!"

Earl then got up from his bed, surprised that he was back in the cottage. He didn't remember much from last night, except that he had had fun dancing with the ladies, eating, and ACTUALLY having a decent conversation with John over at The Shack. It might not have been one of the most classiest places to eat at, but it made up for it with good company, great food, and amazing music.

"Wake up team! Time for breakfast!" shouted Earl as he got out of his shower, fully dressed and groomed up as Leonidas woke up from his make-shift bed, which was the arm of the couch. Hey, little guy partied hard, along with Brutus who got up from laying on the couch. Joan had actually fell asleep on a support beam close to the ceiling, and when she woke up she almost fell to the floor. Luckily for her, she buzzed her wings just enough to land softly. Judas, however, was already up and floating around as he walked up to Earl and nudged him. Judas doesn't talk that much, unlike the others. He usually just grunts, moans, laughs, and stares, but Earl always seems to understand him.

"You have fun?" asked Earl as Judas simply spun his 'head' around, which Earl had learned to mean yes. "Glad ya did. Okay, time to eat and then get out of Jackson, MS! You wants to go to New Orleans?"

As soon as Earl said that, Leonidas, Brutus, and Judas eached brightened up immediately. "TOTO TOTODILE!" shouted Leonidas as he jumped for joy! Brutus did the same as Leonidas while Judas spun his head a few times. Joan the Yanma looked confused however. She had no idea what Earl was talking about.

"Joan, let me say this for New Orleans. Think of The Shack from last night, except five-hundred times better."

Joan's eyes seemed to sparkle as she started flying around the cottage. She seemed to like the idea. Finally, Earl packed the last of his things in his suitcase and motioned for his Pokemon to get out the door as he opened it. Leonidas, who seemed to be sporting a miniature version of Earl's black fedora hat, hopped on Joan's back as they zoomed out the door, Leonidas holding on to his hat tightly.

"Careful Leonidas! I got that for you last night, so don't lose it!" said Earl a bit loudly as Judas and Brutus walked out the door. Earl then closed it behind him and locked it as he went to John's cottage and knocked on the door.

"Hey John," said Earl in between knocks. "Wake up man. Breakfast will be over soon, and I'm hungry for some home-cooked food. How does pancakes, western omelets, and fresh fruit sound to you?"

(OOC: This should be good.)

John's door opened up. A well dressed young lady looked up at Earl. Her hair was a similar color of red as John, though it was slightly brighter. It flowed down her back. She was wearing a light gray dress that went down to her knees. Seeing the surprised look on Earl's face she gave a very familiar giggle. She could almost feel her tail wagging. Shadia/Shadow grinned at Earl.
"He's already at breakfast! He woke up early, as he always does. Hehehe! I told him I wanted to get a little more sleep, and he said that was fine. He also said that when you finally woke up to tell you he's getting ready to head toward the next gym," she said, still giggling. She walked as well as she could out of the room and closed the door behind her.
"Shall we go?" she asked as she turned back around to the, in her mind, dumbstruck guy standing there.

Shadow had not been lying. John had been up since the crack of dawn, as usual. Last night had tired him out so much that the nightmares that usually kept him awake didn't bother him. So he had watched a little TV, got dressed into his normal attire, and went out to train his pokemon. All but Shadow, who seemed to want to sleep in. When the lady running the inn told him that they would be serving breakfast for a while, he went to go eat. The food was some of the best stuff he'd ever tasted. And the company wasn't very dull either. He was having a very good discusion about the battle styles of the previous champion and the man he had beaten to become so.
"It all came down to strength. Tydus's pokemon had the power to back up the strategy behind them. In the end, his pokemon were just stronger. The ploys all ultimately failed, remember?" John said.
"True, but you have to admit, the other trainer had a sound strategy," the man said.
"Maybe, but the level diffence was the determining factor in that case. Tydus's strategy was just as good as his opponents was," John said. The man sighed and gave him a kind look and went back to his food. John did the same.

Earl was awfully surprised to see a young lady answer John's door, and he almost made a note to high-five John later, until he heard the giggling. He recognized the voice INSTANTLY as he smiled, deciding to play along.

"Well Miss, would you care for me to escort you to breakfast?" asked Earl as he held his arm out for Shadow to take.

Meanwhile, Leonidas, now on the ground, alongside Joan with Judas and Brutus behind them walked into the main part of the inn. Taking off his hat, Leonidas stepped to the side as Joan, Brutus, and Judas walked, floated, or flew in, where each of them gave (or tried in Judas' case) a bow to Mrs. Thomas. She just laughed. "Oh you all. C'mon, I got your food already set," said Mrs. Thomas as she walked to a table right next to her husband, Mr. Thomas, and John as she motioned for Earl's Pokemon to sit down. She was extremely happy to have such well-mannered guests.

As each Pokemon took a seat (While Joan just flew in place, not needing a chair. She could do that all day.), Mrs. Thomas picked up a nearby bell and gave it a ring. A Medicham using Psychic to hold three plates of food suddenly walked out, each plate covered by a silver lid you usually see for platters in fancy restaurants. As the plates were situated, the Medicham opened each one, serving the Pokemon food fit for humans to eat! Leonidas placed his hat on the side of his chair as he cut his small Filet Mignon up with his claws and ate it one piece at a time. He couldn't use a knife and fork, so this would have to do. Brutus, meanwhile, was eating several different kinds of fruit and veggies with a whole chicken! His situation was similiar to Leonidas', since he couldn't use a knife and fork as well. Joan was eating some fresh veggies and fruit, having already ate the small bit of pork that came with it. Judas, meanwhile, ate nothing. Being a special ghost type Pokemon, he gained energy by absorbing negative energy, be it emotions, fighting, etc.

With another leap the creature appeared before Silver letting out a sharp cry flicking it's head about before pressing against his leg. With another sharp cry the creature slipped under Silver so it was carrying the boy before bounding off.

"Silver! Silver wait there, I'm coming!" Kitten called out as she made her way blindley through the fog. Man now she wished she had never suggested this place..

A noise erupted nearby, startling the girl as she spun around only to be nose to nose with the creature, it's red eyes gleeming at her as it sniffed about.

"Sol.." It seemed to comclude shaking Silver off of his back dis-dainfully.

Shadia/Shadow walked toward the main building with Eal, if you can call short uncertain hops walking. She was getting better at imitating the motion, though. Even though her head ached, she went with him. When they got there, the noise in the room made her whince. She almost cried out. It was so loud! She spotted John sitting at a table by himself. As Earl walked to a different table, Shadia/Shadow bounded over to John and wrapped her arms around him in a hug.

"Good morning to you too, Shadow," John said. She let him go and sat down across from him. She put her head on the table and moaned at the noise.
"That bad, huh? You'll start feeling better soon. It's called a hangover. Next time, listen to me when I say not to eat something, alright?" John said softly. She nodded and turned back into herself. Cinder huffed from his corner of the room. John looked at him oddly.
"What? You don't have a hangover too, do you?" he asked the fire dragon. tthen he saw what was bothering him. Sparky had curled up on his belly and fallen back to sleep. John laughed and tossed him the rest of his pork chops, which he snapped out of midair and ate. Aquanis had found the kitchen and was trying to make himself useful now that he had eaten. Nida was curled up around John's leg, watching everyone with fear in her eyes. She was still scared of any human that wasn't John, but she'd get over that soon.
