What is the longest you've been without internet?

Well let's see, I believe it was like 3 weeks when I went camping <3 You can only enjoy camping without internet

I don't think I've been without internet for very long. I did how ever go without it for a while when we moved though. Luckily, I had my phone at the time. There was another time when I had only my iPad because my laptop broke. I still had internet at the time though, so I doubt that really counts.

Thanks to the accessibility of the Internet via phones, I can't really say I can recall a time in which I've felt disconnected from the internet. Sadly, I feel like I would have had my "drug" taken away if I get lost he ability to access the Internet as its a serious, bad addiction of mine.

Around three days, on a skiing trip. I'm sure they had Wi-Fi, but that was the only time in a really long while that I actually didn't feel the need to get online.

But yeah, internet is accessible pretty much anywhere now, so I haven't actually been involuntarily "cut off" in a long time. Even when I was camping last summer I had access to the internet.

I've gone much longer without it before, but in recent memory, a car ran into a pole just down the street from me last year, which took out both our internet and cable for 9 days. If it hadn't been for the fact that I'd been recently modded here I wouldn't have minded, but it was tough trying to do anything on here when I only had 15 minutes a day to check PC from my work's Wifi.

For the first few days I didn't mind being disconnected from the world, but by the one-week point, I got pretty antsy without TV/internet, thinking I had nothing to do (which obviously wasn't the case).

Longest I've been without internet is about 2 weeks, due to being hit by Hurricane Sandy a few years ago. I couldn't even get online with my phone because the phone towers were down.

A year, I think. I was such a ***** about it.

Out of choice or not?

It seems like there only seems to be one (maybe two) person so far that's taken a pretty long time away from it out of their own choice alone rather than being influenced by external factors. Pretty interesting! I wasn't really sure how many cases of that there would be, but I wasn't sure I'd find any.

Well, I wouldn't have been a ***** about it if it was my own choice to stop using it.

I can think of ways people can be *****es about it still, like "I HATE EVERYONE ON THE INTERNET GOODBYE" etc. Not that I had such lowly expectations of you!

Thought so, but that wasn't the case here. However, I do know people with that kind of mentality. They didn't last long without their precious Internet/social media/etc.

About a month or two if you consider my old trips to Russia when I was around 10-12 years old.. but I hardly count that since the internet wasn't as big a part of my life back then.

Otherwise, only three or four days because yey blackouts and connection problems. It hardly happens nowadays and when it does Verizon is very swift to address the issues.

I really don't remember, to be honest. It might have been a few days while I was away from home and before I even had a proper phone, but it certainly wasn't a long time at all.

In the past five years I can recall only one instance, sadly. For nearly the entire month of August in 2010, I had no other means of accessing the Internet after my PC's hard drive got corrupted. It was surprisingly one of the best months of my life. The same thing occurred in February of 2012 with the following laptop, but a student in my computer class suggested that I run a free-ware OS called Debian on a flash drive, and so I continued to use the laptop until June of that same year. In regards to voluntarily removing myself from the Internet for a specific amount of time, I don't think I would be able to now since the Internet is my primary means of communication with friends and family.

I think the longest time I don't use internet was about less than a week, when my old internet packet has running out of quota and I can't afford to buy another packet in about the 3rd or 4th week of the month, not to mention that it's a bit expensive. That's why I'm glad that I've been able to find a good replacement for that now.

So much drama here regarding losing your internet. Yeesh.

Anyways I had to endure seven years without most access to the internet. My parents thought as an 11 year old I was gonna hook up with a creeper and I "didn't know how to be safe on the internet". The first 4 years I had absolutely no access, but in the last 3 I snuck on for periods between 2-3 months at a time. The consequences were out the roof so extreme precaution had to be taken (one time I was busted because my dumbass sister WROTE down the password and my parents went through her drawer after she was stealing their stuff). So the total realistically would be more like 5.5 years taking those islants if access into account.

When I hit 18 my mom grumbled as she gave me full unrestricted access. We all think she was overreacting, but she still holds tightly onto her frankly extremely excessive decision.

How did I handle? Just fine. I spent most of my time making art, reading, philosophizing and playing video games. I survived, I'm sure you will all be fine.

I was without internet for a month a few years back. I got so restless and depressed. And when I got it back I had so much to catch up on. Youtube channels I followed, forums and so on.

So relevant to my situation. It's been 12 days with my internet speeds capped at 256kbps. There's two days left until my usage is reset.
This is the kind of thing that happens when there are at least two avid online gamers and one frequent downloader person sharing 100Gb per month. It would be cheaper to upgrade to Unlimited data with a different company but my parents are stubborn. When I get out I'm not going to run my stuff the same way as my mother.

Anywhere from 3-6 months at a time, twice a year.

We moved when I was 13. We all knew it was a permanent move. Except for my mother, who was is still convinced that we live several states away. So we had to regularly visit our "real home." We had to leave a beautiful 3,600 sq.ft. house on an island for a 700 sq.ft. little hovel that's falling apart several states away. For months on end.

And, naturally, there was no internet. There wasn't even any form of AC. I had an oscillating fan in my room. Dad wouldn't pay for it because it was a "vacation home."
It was no vacation. My mom's actually really mad at me because they're going back there in a few weeks.. I'm 21 now - I'm not going back there to live in a **** hole in the middle of nowhere, and you can't make me. :P

Regardless. I had my 360 and my Gamecube. I was going stir-crazy because I don't have any friends up there anymore, but in regards to the lack of internet, it was fine.
