    Okay, some words in posts, VMs, board descriptions, etc. anywhere on the forum are highlighted green with it underlined twice. When you hover over the word, it has an advertisement pop up.

    I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or is it just me?
     
    Those are off-site advertisements, or something of the sort. That's all I can tell you. Don't know why they were added.

    I can tell you that in order to disable them, click on the question mark in the right-hand corner of the pop-up ad (when you hover over the word). It'll bring you to another site where you scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and click "Disable ads". You might have to do it a few times for it to finally stick, but that'll end them appearing all over the place.
     
    Hm, I brought the advertising highlight thing up a while back and I thought the staff took care of that in that all members won't have that problem and only the guests. Looks like it's coming back now. O.o I can say though I'm not experiencing that (yet).

    Like Asintus said, best way is to disable the ads. I think the staff might be able to get rid of the ads (at least for members) like before.
     
    This stupid thing is on my account. I don't see why as I'm not a guest :)
     
    I use Google chrome now and it doesn't happen to me anymore.
     
    I... definitely haven't seen anything and I haven't heard that it was turned back on for members or anything but Steve also doesn't really tell us these things. :p

    Regardless, until he can give an answer either way here, just disable them as needed.
     
    It may depend on what PC style/theme you are using.. some themes do not have the usergroup limited codes added to them..
     
    It happened for me while I was using the 'Dimensional Rift' skin. I have sinced change to 'The Johto Elite' and it doesn't happen anymore. It must be the way the skins are designed.
     
    I've had that before, and afaik my problem was that it was actually a virus-adbot sort of thing... It did that with most of the sites I visited on IE. Maybe you should double-check and make sure you don't have anything like that?
     
    If it looks like the image attached, then it is NOT a virus.. it is a context/keyword based ad (text or image/flash) that should, on most skins, display for unregistered/not logged in users. As stated above, you can block em or just ignore them if they are not of interest to you.

    They are advertisements, just like ad banners. I'm using Firefox with AdBlock Plus, so I'm not seeing them.
     
    After a bit of testing on words it happens to on this very thread, it seems like depending on the skin, the advertisements are on different words. They've been getting really distracting lately though. It looks like they got bigger.
     
    Two ways.

    1.) Look down at the lower left portion of the page you're on, all the way down at the bottom. There's a drop-down menu there with all the skin options. Select from there and change them around to see which one looks best to you.

    2.) User CP -> Edit Options. On that screen, close to the bottom, there's an option there to change the forum style under "Miscellaneous Options". Same drop-down menu.

    If you go to the main page of your User Control Panel, there's a box that says "Switch Forum Style". Once you click on that, you'll see thumbnails for all the skins, so you can get a quick glimpse of how the skins look.
