Sometimes when I restart a game just to have a little fun and mess around I give my Pokemon nicknames. Sometimes they're creative. Sometimes they're absolutely mean. Sometimes they're very bland and boring.

When I was younger, I would nickname only my starter Pokemon. But it was never anything original.
Ex. Bruteroot - Bulbasaur, Zippo - Charmander, Shellshock (couldn't fit the "er") the Squirtle. XD

But I don't nickname my Pokemon anymore.
Maybe if I list them all down and think of cool names, I'll go to the namerater and give them some.
Who knows... -_-

I used to give my Pokémon Irish nicknames.
eg. Scamall for Altaria (means cloud)
Nimhiúil for Nidoking/queen (means poisonous or toxic)
Abhainn for Milotic (means river)

But I prefer to leave them with their given names now.

I hate the nicknames given to Pokémon in in-game trades, though. They're pretty awful.
Like in Silver, when you trade a Bellsprout for Onix, it's called Rocky.

I just tend to name mine after random words or names I think are funny (which most people don't usually find funny haha)

Hence I'm playing LeafGreen right now and I've got..

Pringles (Charmeleon)
Woodstock (Pidgey)
Patches (Pikachu)
Dory (Magikarp)

I was gonna name my Pikachu Sparky until I remembered Ritchie's Pikachu.

Haha and EffervescentEevee I was gonna name my Onix Rocky when I catch one in Rock Tunnel! Hmm. Maybe I should think of something else.

I don't like giving them nicknames. I don't know why. But if I had a Nidoking, i would name it Quakehound.

HOLY MOLY! never have a seen a list this long with nicknames...lol...but sadly no, I do not nickname my pokemon, I did try it once, but for some reason I can never think of the right names for them nor can I remember them...lol

I remember once, I called something and own, and another one and pwn, so when you sent them out...
Go! and own!
Heh heh heh

After I read the Johto Pokemon Adventure series comics I ended naming all my with the end of taro including my trainer (Almost exactly like what gold did)

My trainer always either:Kentaro or Rintaro( always had that name after watching metabots)
And my pkmn was either called:

Chimchar - explotaro (named after Gold's cyndaquil)
Shinxs - zparktaro
buizel/floatzel - jetaro
Roselia - Pointaro
Starly - wingtaro

Though before that I did name them something else

Chimchar - zippo
Shinxs - sparky
Buizel - aqua
Roselia - point
Starly - U-turn

Weird aren't I

Ha, I watched Metabots too! It was awesome! Anyway...
I don't always nickname my pokemon but when I do, I feel its something significant. Like I had a budgie that I had to leave behind when I moved country. I miss the fella like heck. And so, every game I played, because Pidgey was my fav pokemon it was always the pokemon I caught second (after my starter) and it's a tradition I've kept to keep all my first caught Pidgeys in every game with my budgie's name. Always. I guess in a way, its a way of keeping my pet's memory alive.

i give all of my Pkmn nicknames, I mostly give them their Japanese names or shorter versions of the japanese name

:t354:TG

I don't really nickname them, but if I do, I'd probably use their Japanese Pokemon names. A lot of them sound cooler than their English counterparts...

In the regular games, no nicknames. In Mystery Dungeon, a play on the Pokemon names, English or otherwise. It usually ends in a vowel sound.

Back in Gold and Silver I used to give my Pokémon whatever nickname popped into my head at the time. But in the more recent games I think the only Pokémon I nicknamed was a Barboach, which I called "Boachy". xD;

Yes, but rarely. If I had a Charmander as a starter, I'd call it Flare. If I had Bulbasaur I'd call it Bulba and if Squirtle, I just get rid of the caps and just call it Squirtle since I know it wont evolve anyway, likewise with Bulbasaur lol :P

I normally don't give my Pokémon nicknames.

When I do though, I normally give them German names like "Geist" for a Gastly/Haunter or "Krieger" for a Toxicroak. I think the most bizzare name I've ever given to a Pokémon was "Geschwindigkeit" for a Magnemite.
