What was the most annoying thing your parents ever said to you about anime?

My parents don't usually complain unless I'm watching a sub, they complain that if I want to watch Japanese shows I should learn Japanese instead of reading a translation down the bottom.

"What is it with you and those depressing cartoons?" Mother always speaks of anime as 'depressing' and 'dark', lulz, albet it is that way sometimes... but the Bizzlings take a great fondness in Japanese animation, they do.

My parents have insulted anime in about every way possible XD; I swear, every time I'd mention it or anything, I'd get a string of rude insults about how it's lame and is a waste of time etc... . I never let it get to me though, my parents and I have been on really bad terms foreeeeever, so I just brush off whatever they say :D

"Stop watching that Digimon crap!"

This was years ago, but it still ticks me off when I think about it. To mistake Pokemon for Digimon is unforgivable in my book.

WHAT? If my parents do that, I'm sure I'm gonna have them pay. HOW DARE THEY DO THAT UNFORGIVABLE THING...

Pokemon is my friend. That's why I have a grudge against people who go against me.

"Aren't you too old for this?"

My parents ask me that every time they see me watching a cartoon/anime. It's getting hard to stay calm when answering "There are cartoons for all ages..." ¬_¬

The first time my parents asked me about it, they were like "Aren't these things for little kids?"

Then, I put up the first 7 minutes of Elfen Lied, some killer moments from Higurashi, and some yuri from Strawberry Panic.

And after that my reply is "I'm sure little kids love blood, gore, screaming, and homosexual behaviour in their cartoons."

Well sweeties, when I was living at home the only things that they said that annoyed me were:
"Have you finished your homework?" and trying to have a random conversation with me out of the blue when I'm in the middle of episode. That's about it. XD

Oh yeah. That just fuels the "Digimon is a ripoff of Pokemon" sentiment, when the only things they share in common are monsters, human-monster interaction, and those same monsters growing to a stronger state. Personally, I regard both franchises as excellently crafted pieces of media, and if one actually took the time to watch each series in-depth separately, they'd see this as well; that the two are very different. I mean, even the art styles differ!!

And Digimon is not crap :cer_pissed:. Anyone who says that has got a bone to pick with me (and needs their brain checked).

You can't watch the final episode of Outlaw Star (which i had watched every episode in a row on Cartoon Network before that) because I'm watching Monday Night Football...

It wasn't even our team that was playing... You can't just let a kid watch an amazing anime and then not get to see the ending!!!!

"Where is Naruto? Is that the one with the black hair?" When I watched Naruto,

"Who's the Pokemon there?" When I watch Pokemon.

It's really annoying when my parents says "Who this [Insert anime title here]" and I have to explain it. =.=

Never really happaned to me because my parents were both raised with Anime (Kimba, Speed Racer) and Ultraman so they accepted it when me and my sister were into Sailor Moon ,and so forth . The only one would be my grandpa , which is very bigoted about Japanses culture ,so I'm always on the opposite culturally then him. My grandma ,however ,didn't really care ,unless it got in the way of school and such.

Anything they say pertaining to Death Note is annoying. From the moment they heard the name of the anime they were bugging me about it.

That and my step-mom annoys me about still liking pokemon. My dad doesn't care.

My mom doesn't even know what anime is... She's there are only cartoons in the world, no Japanese cartoons and stuff. She doesn't say anything.

Like I said before, my mom loves Death Note. My grandmother is another story altogether... Ugh...

My mom asks me if kids my age still like Pokemon, and I reply "I am not like most kids my age." :P

My mom think anime and manga's for little kids and say I'm "too old" to be watching "cartoons" and reading "comic books." My dad doesn't even know what I'm doing in my room half the time LOL
But some/most of these animes that I watch are like rated Teen (16+) and I'm not even 16 yet xD

I just get the general "You're obsessed with that, aren't you?" response. Not too bad, I face worse persecutions at school.

It would be, "Shouldn't you be watching english things instead of Japanese?" and "You shouldn't be watching these things," when there was violence.

Oh yeah, my mom FORBIDS me from watching Death Note, Jigoku Shojo and all things that relate to hell and all those stuff. She'll yell at me and not let me watch anymore of this, AND because I'm a Christian, I can't watch this. Seriously, who said Christians can't watch these? How many Christians are watching these? I would say more than 50%. This is ANIME, mom. I wouldn't turn away from God just because of this. So yeah, I still watch them, but without my mother at home. She is such a bother.

My dad, well, is another case. He watches Naruto, Death Note (some of it) and some more anime. But for the rest, he looks at the TV for five secs, turns back and says, "After this, switch off the TV." CRUD~! Why can't I watch them? I learn ALL my drawing skills from anime and manga, and NOW you stop me from watching them? HOLY CR- COW!!!

I am offended. VERY offended. AND they pronounce Pokemon wrong! While it should be Poh-keh-mon, they say Poe-kee-mon! ARGH!!!

"What are you playing? Your Pokeemonz and your Digimons and your YuGiOhs..."

(Po-key-mons)

My dad hates that I'm back into Pokémon. He things I'm in social withdrawl. Shows what he knows. :#
