What was your first Pokemon experience?

I'm not exactly sure, my grandmother died in 1999 so I don't have much memory of 1998 or 1999. I know I bought Pokemon Yellow and the Pikachu Gameboy when it came out, and I watched the series since it came out, I also saw the first movie when it first came out. I have memories of trading pokemon cards at recess in elementary school in 1997-1998, but overall I don't remember how I first heard about it, one of my memories is trading my Pokemon Breeder for a Squirtle card so I think my first experience with it was the cards.

I was still in grade school and I saw the episode where Ash find Charmander. Im not a fan of Charmander but I was totally hooked. I even cried when Pikachu ran away hahaha.

I discovered it through the anime. I remember being 9-years-old at the time and I was flicking through channels when the show popped up on my screen. I forgot the name of the episode, but I remember there was a Bagon and Salamence in it.

I liked the show afterward, but I think it was the TCG that really got me hooked. I still have some of my old cards from the Power Keepers set, including a Salamence EX.

I discovered it through the anime. It was my favorite show for years and eventually I would get my first video game ever, Pokemon Yellow! I don't know how old I was, 6 or 7? But by then I'd been watching and rewatching the anime for years.

My first experience into Pokemon was the movie 2000, y brother was a huge fan back then but got disinterested by the time Gen 2 came out so I replaced him as the only one in the family who watches the anime, I never played the games, but I was so interested by Hoenn that I want to get Ruby so much but my family was poor so I gave up on the series. It wasn't then last year when I finally got an emulator and booted Emerald and was immediately drawn back to the series.

My first experience was the Pokemon anime, even though I didn't see much of the episodes. I focused on the fandom through the toys, like the Poke Ball keychains (I remember having Pikachu, Eevee and Bulbasaur). Then I bought Ruby/Sapphire along with a Game Boy and that's how I've been into Pokemon ever since.

I have faint memories of the first time I found Pokemon.

I was bored one day at my grandparents house while my parents were visiting so I decided to kill time in my uncle's room (I was probably around 8/9). I was rummaging through his closet when I saw some red toy which turned out to be a gameboy with Pokemon blue already inside. I turned it on and couldn't stop playing, I remember spending so many carefree hours in front of that little screen.

Being a child is great isn't it?

I was amazingly fortunate enough to see the first few episodes as my first real experience besides seeing it everywhere wondering if I'd like to give it a try. So I got the first VHS and BAM - loved it. :) From there I watched it regularly on tv while gathering the videos. My first non video-item was a Pikachu & Raichu tomy figure set. :) I only had the N64 games until Collosseum, then Diamond & Pearl. It was more of the merchandise and anime for me. Tried the cards, but my League kinda fell apart during a gap of card releases. Still collect the cards today, I love looking at the art. I love those days of the 90's craze. I remember when the movie came out and even Burger King went big on Poke promotion. I only saw the 1st movie in theaters so maybe that's why it's my favorite XD

I watched the tv shows all the time and my parents saw I liked them, For Christmas I found they had gotten me a gameboy and Pokemon mystery dungeon red. I know its strange as mystery dungeon is a spin off but I loved that game. I'm now getting back into Pokemon with a 3DS on the way and Pokemon Y!!!

It all started when I was 4 years old and I began watching it with my older sister. My first game was Pokemon Snap, which I had a lot of fun with as a kid. I actually didn't play any of the main games until 9th grade, funny think is that I hated Pokemon so much and actually teased kids at school that were into it. I was such an ass for being like that. But the truth was, I was curious about the game and borrowed Pokemon Sapphire from my friend for my dusty ol' gameboy. Then for a couple years I was a closeted fan.

Now I've watched every season of Pokemon, played most of the games for at least a bit, beating Pokemon X twice and getting close to beating emerald on 3 different saves, got far in Fire Red and Black 2, and not much of the rest.

I started watching the anime from episode 1 when I was a child. It really was one of my favorite shows. I remember being sad because I had to wait a few years before I was 10, and wanted to go on my adventure already xD Anyway, it was a huge popcultural phenomenon among children in my country, and I kept watching the tv show, collecting stickers and tazos (though interestingly I never got into the card game), begging my parents to get me more Pokemon merch. I remember the chewing gum stickers, and pokeball shaped lollipops... I even had a stuffed Pikachu toy named Dakki^_^ Then I kinda forgot about the series for a couple of years as I grew up, and a few months ago I started playing the games. I still have to play X/Y, but played most of the games already. I would like to watch the anime too, especially after I heard the original dub, so much better than the regional one... and fell in love with it:3 (especially Jessie and James's VAs).

My first experience was Pokemon Gold. I used to watch my brother play it all the time then one day I tried it and the first Pokemon games I got were Pokemon Ruby and Emerald when I was 6.

When I was five or six I asked my parents for Pokemon Red on the Game Boy Color after watching an older family friend play it, and I got that for my birthday.

I honestly don't remember if the anime came before or after Pokemon Red for me, but I know it was my favorite show as a kid, and I watched it every day (or however often it aired, I don't remember that either).

Well my love for pokemon started with the anime when i was young and i got pulled in. What could i say, that became one of my favorite shows soon after.
But one day i was in my uncles room and i knocked over a shoe box filled with pokemon cards then he got my into the trading cards. Soon after i started playing the games with my buddies at school. Ever since then i loved pokemon.

My first Pokemon game was Sapphire version.

As a child, the only thing I had to entertain me were animal books, specifically Zoobooks. After reading a bunch of them, I have started to get a fascination of Marine creatures.

My brother was a real Pokemaniac and he had his Gameboy Color with him all the time. His library of Pokemon games include, Red, Blue, Yellow, Stadium, Pinball, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Stadium 2. So I went and tagged along him to Gamestop when R/S was released.

As soon as I saw Kyorge, my love of Marine creatures overtook me and I begged my father to buy me a Gameboy Advance and Sapphire version. My brother eventually persuaded my father to buy a GBA and Sapphire, and so yeah! That is how I became the Pokemaniac I am today :P

I was about to say I started with the anime but after a moment of thinking I don't know if that's true.
I might have actually started with the card game. I remember going into a store in the mall that had Pokemon cards, figures, and other generally anime merchandise.

I do know that when I did start watching the anime it wasn't because it was on the TV. I chose it kind of at random at BlockBusters, starting with the island of giant Pokemon episode or Tentacool and Tentacruel.

My first gaming experience was at my cousin's house with his Pokemon Red Version.

For me, it was the anime. I remember the days when I used to be a heavy watcher of the anime, and it was a while after that that I got a Pikachu plush toy that my love of Pokemon really kicked off.

My first experience was with Pikachu. I used to hate pokemon as a child. I wanted no part of it whatsoever. Hard to believe for someone who became a huge pokemon nerd, eh? XD Anyway, I saw Pikachu for the first time, thought it was adorable... next thing I know I was hooked.

I think my first experience was with Pokemon Yellow because of Pikachu, so I'll have to go with the video games.

My first Pokemon experience from what I can remember was back in 1998 with the anime

I was 12 years old at the time - I just remember coming back from school and searching through the channels to see what cartoons where on - (at the time I didn't realized it) first Pokemon I saw was Meowth from Team Rocket in my mind "I love this cartoon - wonder what it's called, and at what times it's on"
