Do you watch anime in English or Japanese?
I watch anime in Japanese because it's more authentic

Take Cowboy Bebop as a counter-example. I'd say that the English VAs in Bebop surpassed the originals by far.Japanese! <3 Subs are the way to go I think... American-animation voice actors just don't seem to fit the characters :\ (Take naruto for example, rofl).
Actions scenes are one thing, but what I absolutely hate is when a subtitle covers a subtle facial expression or element on the bottom of the screen. Anime isn't designed to be watched with text obscuring part of the artwork, it's supposed to be a more cohesive experience. And I don't find reading distracting - its on the image so you can see it anyway :P and you don't have to focus intensely. For action scenes its not necessary anyway... which is where 'watching' is preferable XD
Ironically, that's how most Americans view foreign accents as well.オレンジ said:No offence to anyone but I find American accents grating and all extremely samey.
Normally I don't have a preference, really. As long as I know what's going on, I'm not picky about voices.
The one exception is the Slayers dubs. 4kids eff'd those up so bad, even I can't stand to sit through it.
In English. There's no reason for me to watch anything in Japanese if it has already been translated in my native language.
