Which games did you choose?

    Basically what the title says, out of the main pokemon games, which 1 out of the 2 games did you pick first (first incase you have both).

    Mine are:

    Gen I (Red/Blue/Green/Yellow): Never got them.
    Gen II (Gold/Silver/Crystal): Gold (I actually got it from a friend).
    Gen I remakes (Firered/Leafgreen): Firered.
    Gen III (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald): Emerald, then Sapphire.
    Gen IV (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum): Diamond, then Platinum.
    Gen II remakes (Heartgold/Soulsilver): Heartgold (I don't actually have it yet but I'm planning on buying it)
    Gen V: Black.

    Well, what games did you choose first?

    Gen I: Yellow
    Gen II: Gold
    Gen I remakes: Firered
    Gen III: Ruby
    Gen IV: Platinum & SoulSilver
    Gen V: White
     
    Gen I: Red, Blue, Yellow.
    Gen II: Silver, Gold, Crystal.
    Gen I remakes: LeafGreen.
    Gen III: Sapphire, Emerald.
    Gen IV: Diamond, Platinum.
    Gen II remakes: SoulSilver.
    Gen V: White.
     
    • Gen I: Started with Yellow (technically my brother's), then eventually picked up Blue for myself.
    • Gen II: Crystal. The first Pokemon game I spent a decent amount of time on.
    • Gen III: Ruby, because I'm not sure why.
    • Gen I remakes: Never picked up either. I was considering FireRed at one point, though.
    • Gen IV: Pearl, since I thought Palkia looked cooler than Dialga at the time.
    • Gen II remakes: HeartGold. My brother had Gold for Gen II, so I thought it'd be a nice throwback of sorts.
    • Gen V: White, since I preferred the version exclusives.
     
    Gen I: Never played.
    Gen II: Never played:
    Gen III: Ruby cos then I'd have a better advantage with Mudkip.
    Gen I remakes: Never played.
    Gen IV: Pearl cos its version exclusives were very feminine. Also got Platinum.
    Gen II remakes: SoulSilver cos I wanted Teddiursa.
    Gen V: Black cos I wanted Reshiram and Gothitelle.
     
    Gen I: N/A
    Gen. II: Crystal (but a cousin currently has it)
    Gen. III: Saphirre (don't have it anymore) ; Ruby (dissapeared randomly...) ; Emerald (don't have it anymore) ; LeafGreen (immidiatly gave to my brother, never even opened) ; FireRed (I've had like 4 of these. Whether I los it, I trade it, I give it away, or it dissapears, somehow I always manage to get another... I currently have 1)
    Gen IV: N/A
    Gen. V: N/A
     
    Gen I: Yellow (though I didn't pick that one. I later had the opportunity for RB and picked Red.)
    Gen II: Silver
    Gen III: Sapphire & FireRed
    Gen IV: Diamond and Pearl were bought at the same time, SoulSilver was imported.
    Gen V: White was imported

    I have all the trios/pairs now though, cause I'm a super geek. :(
     
    Gen 1 - I had Yellow. Between the two main games, I would've picked Blue.

    Gen 2 - Silver :D

    Gen 3 - Leaf Green and Emerald. Between the two main games, I would've picked Sapphire.

    I haven't got any of the following but when I get a DS these will be the games I'll pick :)

    Gen 4 - Diamond and Soul Silver.

    Gen 5 - Black and White 2.

    Basically because I liked the cover Pokemon best, except for Yellow, which was a gift from my sister, and LG, which I only got because I thought my other sister wanted FR.

    *Pearl, then Platinum.

    I tend to get the game opposite of the version my brother picks up so we'll have both of the games between the two of us.
     
    Gen I: Blue version first (lil' bro got Red) then I bought Yellow when it came out.
    Gen II: Gold version (lil' bro got Silver) but the bad experience of Yellow meant that none of us bought Crystal.
    Gen III: Sapphire version (lil' bro got Ruby - the last time he'd do so) and no one bought the Gen I remakes or Emerald as we kinda lost interest in Pokemon
    Gen IV: Only SoulSilver; never gotten around to buying any of DPPt as at that point I still had little interest in Pokemon.
    Gen V: Black version. No idea why; maybe I just subconsciously didn't want to be labelled a racist by buying White version, but I highly doubt it.

    I didn't notice this pattern until after Gen IV had been out a while, but I always pick the first game in a set. I don't even really look at what exclusives each game has (since my brother or roommate always gets the game I don't choose and I can trade anyway) but I've consistently picked the first one when they're written out. I consciously chose Black for that reason, but I wanted to choose it anyway so it worked out! I think I'll continue doing this, so hopefully in the future, I continue to like the first one in the list. :P I always get the third game too, so I don't really count it in the list. When I pick up BW2, I'll be getting Black 2.
