We've all seen a shiny Pokemon that we either don't understand the recolor, why they would choose to make the colors worse... or... make the colors appear as if they didn't change at all no shade, Tandemaus

What are those shinies for you? Which Pokemon do you feel could use a recolor to help make its shiny worth hunting for?

Takes too long to list all of them. Stuck to just Generation 1 fully evolved forms (at the time). Honestly could have added more fully evolved forms.

    Group 1: Too similar.

Lightened or darkened the color a bit, in most cases. Called it a day. May have made other, slight differences, such as Clefable's ear tips being green or a pink-ish hue on Golduck's bill.

Gave some other Electric types a pass, but not Zapdos. Felt more similar in colors than the others, like Electabuzz. Also declined to add Scyther for looking slightly better.

    Group 2: Greeeeeeeeen.

Did not even show all of the green Pokemon. Left out a few out of kindness, like Golbat, Muk, and Tentacruel. Considers Dragonite the best in the group, thanks to the darker green, but even so...

    Group 3: Worse colors

Lost Blastoise's really good blue. Needs Hitmonchan's boxing gloves to be at least kind of red (also very green overall). Turned Starmie from a three-color Pokemon to two. Dislikes the setting color too. Could be better with alongside other colors, though.

Recognizes the difficulty in making some of these better. Points to Dewgong as a really tough one. Will be too much of one color, regardless of what you do. Could improve it by adding designs. Involves more personalized efforts, however.

lots of ones to list, but i still wish shedinja got a spooky color scheme!
I'm with you on that one! I can't stand the shinies that barely change color at all.

We've got quite a few of the same frustrations with some of the shinies - I cannot stand how similar some of the shinies you listed are to their original versions (especially the two out of three bird trio).

My main frustration though is just straight up ugly color schemes. One that always comes to mind is this raw chicken...

Like... why?? Why would you give it the color of a chicken with all of its feathers plucked off? How disheartening

forever sad at gengar's shiny. at least the gmax form made it better, but ugh, that doesn't really exist anymore in modern games.

also.. yeah gonna agree on moltres @_@; I love pink but it looks awful on this bird.

I heavily dislike more green shinies too. espeon looks radioactive, they really could've chosen a nicer green.

I always imagine the pitch meeting went something like:

Lead designer: "So, did you finish all those new character colour designs I asked you to stay up late to do and complete for the shiny Pokemon?"

Jr Designer : *Suddenly waking up from napping at his desk and accidentally spilling water over the paper with all the drawings of the original Pokemon, which fades their colours very slightly*
"Uh..er sure I did! Here you go. I worked super hard on it!"

I'm just glad shiny Mew got a really awesome blue colour 💙 😂

Everyone hates on green shinies, but the ones I hate the most are white shinies. (Except for a select few like shiny Mega Gengar or shiny Trevenant.) I think white shinies are ugly, especially the ones where they change black parts (or dark colors in general) to white, like Incineroar or Salazzle. The change from black to white is too jarring, especially with these two that I mentioned where every other color in the palette is the exact same.

Also shiny Okidogi. I'm not sure what they were thinking with that.

I don't really have a specific color of shinies I hate. Like green shinies can be bad like Espeon, or good like Taillow/Swellow. Black shinies can be bad like Greninja's or good like Palossand. Etc. Etc.

The thing I dislike the most are the really similar shinies. I love Glaceon but dang do I wish it had a better shiny. You can't tell the difference ingame unless it's standing side by side with a normal one. Sadly Leafeon is pretty much in the same boat there.
Snom/Frosmoth has the same problem. I caught a shiny Frosmoth in SV. I had no idea it was shiny and was just attacking them with my lead Pokemon when it suddenly refused to attack one. Could not see the difference ingame at all.

It would take way too long to list all of the really similar shinies.
