Trading shops couldn't operate without cloning. Or atleast they would never grow without a ridiculous amount of work from the owners. As they would constantly have to replace what they trade.
I've only had a thread up for a few days, but I don't clone any of my Pokemon. Most of what I offer is lv1 or eggs, but I'll be training some for trades soon and I won't be cloning. A trade is supposed to be giving something and receiving in return, -1 and +1, not giving something but keeping a copy of it and also receiving something else (+2!).

I'd be really interested to see how some threads would function without cloning.
Thats why I support thread approval.
Would definitely, definitely help; as long as there are enough active mods watching over the moderated threads to make sure they get approved within a decent time period. You may possibly even be able to move posts that require moderating and belong in the quick trades thread straight there, instead of having to explain to the member why their thread wasn't approved (or maybe not; I'm not that familiar with thread moderating on vB).

Well, thats why I've been pushing for ages for more mods. We have 3 right now. Not counting Horizon because he's is nearly never around here.
And I agree. I don't like trading off my pokes for junk. I mean, its not like a put in the effort but somebody did...so....

But a shop is about making a profit. Not just standing where you are. And when we are talking about trading stuff like flawless pokes you usually dont like to spend all that time working on them just to lose it in a 20 second trade.
Ah..

I don't see the threads in this area as 'making a profit' types, I see them as more of personalised trade threads offering what they're willing to give up and what they're looking for in return. If you spend the time to create what you perceive to be a flawless Pokemon, then it's something you should think about a fair bit before deciding to trade it off. I'm probably in the minority saying this, but if I created something that I saw as perfect, I wouldn't be all too keen on offering copies of it to anyone who was willing to give me something in return.

*sighs* Thread moderation always sounds like a wonderful idea on paper. When activated, at least (historically speaking) here on PC, it kills forums to the bone. Many forums have been thrown away for good thanks to the nice "idea" of putting moderation on. Frankly, I wish that feature never existed.

Also, SCV, heh, if only it was that easy.

I have nothing against the threads that clone or use RNGs for their Pokemon, I just personally would like to have it so thread creators have to clearly state what sort of Pokemon they're offering - just for an example, in the first part of my thread I state that all my Pokemon are legitimate and aren't RNG'd or hacked or cloned, unless stated otherwise. And, saying that, I've trained a clone I did receive a while ago and am offering it, and stating that it's been cloned.

Buuut I digress!

I know of a forum (vB) that has a section where after you hit 'new thread' it takes you to a separate page with links to the rules for the section. Probably a plugin. It's pretty nifty, and it gives them a good warning about what sort of stuff warrants a thread to be created, as opposed to just posting in quick trades. If that were implemented you wouldn't have to bother with thread moderation, and you could even possibly start officially warning (or giving 0 point infractions; I'm not really up to speed with the infraction system here) people which you'd hope would put them off creating threads full of nothing!

x_____x! Sorry for going on and on and on and on~

I mean I don't see it as too much of a hassle to state what kind of pokes you are offering. When I created my thread I said that mine were RNG'd / Cloned and it took like 5 seconds to type. But I just don't know if you could make that mandatory. I feel like it would be so petty

That's actually pretty cool (does it open two pages with one linking to the rules, or just redirects straight to the rules?) Would users who usually don't understand thread requirements or read rules at all *cough* see S&M *cough*, would it really make a difference? Did it for that forum?

Also, I'm not knocking the idea of moderation out of the water here, it's just a controversial feature, that's all.

Also, about the mentions of clones and RNGs etc, I pretty much agree with Psycho here. Making that mandatory (forbid that infractions would be involved for something so tiny) seems like a stretch.

I think thats a good feature. However, some people might just skip over them. Its not like we can watch their eyes go line by line, or have them sign "I swear by my life" xD
I think some of these noobs read the rules, but then completely ignore them because they think it gets them what they want more easily.

And did I say it was easy? ^^ Noooooooooooo............
Nothing is ever easy round here xD

I think also it might be better if we try to HELP new people somewhat. Shouting at them and saying they are noobs, "Read the #$#%Q@ Rules!!!" doesn't help. Its one thing if they deliberately break the rules again after doing it before. I'm not saying with this however, that we should give them a cookie for refusing to read the rules.

EDIT: I also just noticed how many PokeDex threads there are. I'm not sure a PokeDex sticky thread would help because then we would have to deal with people who don't post in it...
Essentially, it boils down to increasing numbers of people who DO NOT read the rules..then run around spamming up the place, and aren't really punished enough. I mean, just maybe a warning and a PM from a mod will suffice. (of course, I don't know if this happens already or not) They do it again, (as a fair number do) infract them.

Does anyone know how I can find out if a pokemon is hacked or not? It's shiny and lvl 100, caught in a safari ball and from a "link trade". Someone gave me one and they aren't sure either whether it is a hack. It's sprite isn't showing up as shiny.

If I'm posting this in the wrong section again, sorry :< I'm just new and a little lost. Is there a thread for determining hacked pokemon?

As far as I can remember, it worked pretty well. It was a straight redirect to a page that said something along the lines of "Could your thread just as easily be posted in this thread? Does it follow these rules?" etc.

Oh no, I didn't think infractions should be given out over something like that, it was just a tiny suggestion. ^ ^ I like to know where my Pokes are coming from, but I can always just ask if it isn't clear.

For what I've heard, there have been a few threads for checking pokemon...somewhere (most likely dead now), it's easy to get lost around here and what-not (that's why there's a handy-dandy search function :D )

Now really, to answer your question, you can try using Legit.exe which was posted a few pages back (or here's a link I got off google: https://pokemondatabase.weebly.com/legit-software.html ). Keep in mind it requires you to know your SID (Secret ID) in-game (or is it just the pokemon's SID and ID...hopefully the latter). Although Shiny, Level 100, and a Safari ball...it's definitely possible but also definitely something to be skeptical of.

Hacked. The location 'Link Trade' and Safari ball is an illegal combination. Link Trade indicates that the Pokemon was traded as an egg, then hatched, so the Pokemon must be in a Pokeball.

Other Pokemon with "Link Trade" possibility are the in-game trades, which include Chatot, Haunter, Abra, and Magikarp. None of those are in a Safari Ball.

Feel free to ask about Pokemon legitimacy here or in our Q&A. ^^

I have a question. Two, actually. I know it's against the rules to hack a Pokemon directly into your party, but does hacking a Pokemon to appear in the wild against the rules?
Also, are hacked items against the rules as well? I would think not as most people offer a rare candy leveling service on their trade threads.

Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but why is Horizon a Moderator of the Trade Center? I honestly have never seen him moderating here like TwilightBlade and Erik Destler, or maybe thats just me.

Rule 13 - Wild Abra are A-holes....

I just can't catch an Abra... Anyone got an Abra they are will to trash trade for?

Btw just started Pokemon after a 7 year break. (The Original Gold, but just bought HeartGold.)

Finally, somebody that agrees with me..
Sorry if anyone finds this insulting, but simply put, why be a mod when you cannot mod?

Thanks for the answers, guys. Man, it sucks that it's hacked. I don't really want a hacked poke in my game because of the issue where it may mess up my game. I'll release it or give it back to the person who gave it to me :<

Thanks for post overlook btw.
