I might be able to get a PS3 or an Xbox360 so I wanted to see which one was better. I added Wii because I already have one, and I want to see peoples opinions if it is better then the other two.

    So I have some questions;
    1. Which one is better?
    2. Which one has games that are better?
    3. Which one is cheaper?
    4. Which one has more qualities that make it better then the other?

These threads literally all produce the same crap, time and time again.

Everyone says the system they like most is best,
everyone tries to argue why their choice is the best,
    everyone gets into a fight,
    I lock the thread

So this time, I'm going to extend a chance for you all to be mature and not fight from the get-go, instead of waiting. I'll just lock the thread if anyone argues more than a level-headed debate. :)

    Thanks!

As for my own opinion, it depends on what games YOU'RE interested in. Not what we like.

    There's a 250GB Xbox 360 Slim out now for $299, as compared to the PS3 160GB for $299.

I'm not entirely sure how accurate the pricing is for the PS3s though (on what I'm using, so look in your own area to check for sure).

I own an Xbox 360 and love it (just had to get the new Slim model; old one died) and the games on it are great, but I don't actually own too many exclusives right now. So anything I've got could probably be enjoyed equally on a PS3 (Red Dead Redemption, Blur, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Bioshock 2).

For me, the PS3 is best, because of all the things you can do on it. The best games would go to 360, PS3 doesn't have many games. I've researched and PS3s and 360s are about the same price, but in the end 360 is a bit more expensive. Wii is cheap nowadayz.

As Klippy mentioned, these threads usually attract lots of console fanboys and tend to go down in flame. I know from about 7 threads worth of experience on other sites. Anyways....

You want my opinion, I like the Wii. Sure, it doesn't have Gears of War or Left 4 Dead(though RE4 and COD make up for that), but it has that Nintendo charm, I guess, that's been with me since the days of N64. Don't get me wrong, I like the Xbox(despite that older models ALWAYS RRoD and Live is an arm and a leg)and the PlayStation(supposed to be significantly more expensive then both consoles, though I haven't checked pricing recently), but I'm still stickin with Wii.

Now as for which has better games, depends on what you're looking for. Bloodbaths and FPS, Xbox. Some FPS, and I really don't know what else, PS3. Casual games and recently more hardcore games, Wii. It all depends on what you're going for. As a gamer I can tell you that I'm not expecting my preference to be yours as well.

Now as for which system has better qualities, PS3. Has better graphics than the Wii and backed the right one in the format war(Blu-Ray).

Choosing a console all comes down to personal preference.

    HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR CONSOLE
A guide in 4 easy steps.

    1. Figure out what you have to spend. Look at each console and figure out the base price along with any add-ons you need. For example, if you get (an old) 360, you might to pick up a wifi adapter if you need one. Or buy your XBL Gold time if you wanna play online. For all of them, you might need extra controllers. (And if you were getting a Wii, you'd need to buy the wii remote, another nunchuk, and possibly a classic controller, etc.) So figure out what you'd need with each console and figure out what's affordable. I think the new 360 Slim has improved this but it used to be that even though the PS3 had a higher base price, it was much more affordable when you factored in all the extras you needed to buy for the 360 to achieve the same functionality.

    2. What are the exclusive titles? Once you get past price, one of the few differences is just game preferences. Between the PS3 and 360 (the Wii isn't really comparable to them and is kind of going to be ignore for the rest of this post), most of the big titles are multi-platform. While one version might be slightly superior to the other (I think most 360 versions have better textures and slightly better graphics but you'd never notice unless you played them side-by-side), it's not those titles you wanna look at. 360 has titles like Halo, Gears of War, Fable, etc. PS3 has Resistance, God of War, Little Big Planet, Uncharted, and more. Look through the different games you'd be missing out on if you didn't go with that console and figure out which ones you want to be able to play.

You can ask people which exclusives they enjoy the most but the best way is to look up a list of them and then check youtube footage, read some reviews, and look into all the genres. Choose what you think you'll like and go from there. Just because someone's favourite game on the 360 is Halo Wars doesn't mean it'll be yours and should seal the deal over whether or not you go for that console.

    3. Do you need anything else from your console? If you need a blu-ray player and the exclusives for either system don't interest you much, it would make sense to get a PS3. Likewise, if you want something that the 360 does (nothing comes to mind that the PS3 can't do but the fanboys will fill in this blank for me), lean toward that.

    4. Which consoles do your friends have? If all your friends have a 360, you'll probably want one too so you can play with them. If they're all gaming on PS3, it would be pretty lonely to be the only one with a 360. If your friends have both or neither (or if you do not want to play with your friends), this is kind of a non-issue. XD;

I have never understood console wars. Who the hell cares? If you really enjoy your PS3, good for you. Just because it's a good console for you doesn't make it the best for someone else. :| I just cannot fathom why people get so worked up and inflammatory over something that doesn't even affect them, lmao.

    This,nuff said.
Its what you think is best,do some research on them, see whats exclusive to what.
I personaly been a Xbox 360 fanboy for a while but now I've kinda been a PS3 fanboy.

Simple, Ps3 is a better system.
XBOX has a better range of games.
But Ps3 is so much better :3

Because you own an XBox 360, a PS3, a Wii, a PSP, and a DS. XD

I post this pic everytime a thread like this comes up...
    [PokeCommunity.com] Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360

Being a fanboy will get you nowhere. If you don't have the money to get all of them then that's fine. And even if you have the money if you see no reason to own both a PS3 and 360 then that's fine. But if you're going to say "PS3/360/Wii sucks!" and don't own one then you really don't have a reason to say that. People need to take the time and look for what they want in a console. There are games that the 360 has that the PS3 doesn't, there are games that the 360 has that the PS3 doesn't.... and then there's the Wii...

Bill Gates said something about Nintendo and I didn't like it because I was a Nintendo fanboy... and so I never got an XBox. Next gen rolled around I defended the Wii, said it was going to make controller gaming a thing of the past, etc... and it just got me burnt.
Fanboys is what hurts gaming. If you like a system then that's good. But if it gets over to "Well the PS3 sucks... I don't know why it sucks, but it sucks just because it's not the 360!" then you got probs.

Me, out of this gen my personal fav is the 360. My brother has one (the one in the pic) and I've got one on my desk. He personally likes the PS3, he likes to play Uncharted 2 on it. Just because I have a 360 in my room does this mean I hate my PS3 (it's my PS3, I paid for it)? Nope. Since he plays the PS3 does this mean he hates his 360? Nope. As Alex said... personal preference. We just got all of our based covered by owning all the systems.

Choosing a console all comes down to personal preference.
I believe what alex_ said. I like the 360, PS3 and Wii but i prefer the 360 overall.
Mainly because all my friends have it and it has games like gears and halo, but also because i like the 360 set-up more then the others.

i like it how everybody kind of cringes when another one of these threads appears. I actually like these threads as fanboy fights are always fun to read and i like hearing differant opinions from people who actually really do have a favourite console, rather than hating on every other console.
in order of what i like the least to the most of this gens consoles that i own are...
    5. psp
    4. pc (well its powerful enough to count as a next gen)
    3. wii
    2. ps3
    1. ds
i'm still waiting for that one game that grabs me on 360. i've never really considered buying one but recently with the slim, a few games, i'm thinking about it.
    the reasons i got a ps3 over a 360 was because:
i wanted to buy games from here and japan so it helps when there is no region lock on ps3
    the yakuza series
    little big planet
most of my friends have one so i can do online with them

I can argue about which console is better until I'm blue in the face, but to be honest, I just prefer the PS3. I'm not a ***** for every duck-and-cover third person shooter with the most homoerotic cast of overly muscular characters ever, so Gears of War never really cut it for me as a system seller. I'm more of a ***** for every cliched RPG with the most homoerotic cast of androgynous emo wussies, also known as JRPGs. As much as I like multimedia consoles that can only do everything, it really just boils down to the games.

…Which is why the Wii is dead last on my list of personal preferences.

I own the Xbox 360 and the PS3, and TBH, they are similar to be. Still, I prefer the latter over the former. I used to own only the Xbox 360 a couple of years ago, but when the PS3 came, it's now left to dust.

It depends on what kinds of games you like. If you like childrens games or family games then the Wii is the best console for you because the Wii has the best childrens games like Mario and Zelda and family games like Wii Sports. If you want realistic and deep games which are designed to make you feel all grown up and mature then you should buy an Xbox 360. I do not know why you would buy a PS3 it seems to me it is just like the Xbox 360 but with less games.

Personally I prefer the Wii because in my opinion videogames are supposed to be childish and wacky. I think that "realistic" and "mature" games are ruining the videogame industry because they are not what videogames should be. If the industry was controlled only by Sony and Microsoft then it would become a really niche thing that only appeals to nerdy teenagers who want to play shooty games over the internet. That is why I prefer the Wii.

    Xbox 360.

    x. Good selection of games.
    x. Great online community, besides having to pay for it.
    x. Graphics are solid.
    x. Price isn't terrible.
    x. Controller is really nice.

I KNOW EVERYONES GONNA COMPLAIN THAT PS3's ONLINE IS FREE, BUT IT ISN'T NEARLY AS GOOD!

And as of right now, the ps3 really has no amazing exclusives [That is until Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out.]

I have that pic saved on my computer. It sees a good amount of use.

In any case, I have a Wii and I like it fine. Having two little siblings and parents on a budget kinda impedes having a whole bunch of A-list "mature" games, but I'm only interested in a few of those anyhow. Brawl is fun, Kart is fun, and I'm seriously considering getting Phantom Brave and/or Okami. Those and other diamonds in the rough make it worth it for me.

Also, does anybody remember anti-anti-Pokemon? This thread has kinda heading in a similar direction.

PS3 is the best one dudes

Well, this is all entirely my opinion...

For me, I would say I prefer the Playstation 3, reasons why?

    - Free online gaming
I wasn't too keen on buying the Xbox due to having to pay an annual fee of up to £40 to play online. At first the Xbox seems the cheaper option, but then the online fees and other accessories soon mount up. Though the new Xbox SLim has built in Wi-Fi and a 250GB HDD, so that's a better deal compared to its previous models. I'm not sure if the Xbox's online is more stable, as most games use P2P (Pee-to-Peer) connections for their online games, so the stability is down to whoever is hosting the session. Though Xbox's online does have Cross Game Chat (the ability to talk to your friend via headsets even when playing other games). This sounds like a cool addition.

    - PS3 Exclusive games
Uncharted, Killzone, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, Gran Turismo, Tekken, Metal Gear Solid, inFamous, LittleBigPlanet, Modnation... all very good games, I throoughly enjoy the majority of them.

    - PS Move
This will turn the PS3 into a HD Wii. Yes there will now be 'casual' games on the PS3 but there will be no decline in more 'hardcore' games and such, it looks awesome. Especially when you'll be able to play games like Killzone 3 with it, in 3D too (as long as you have a 3DTV)! Also, when compared to Xbox, it's the price thing again for me. PS Move can cost between £30-80, where as Xbox's Kinect will cost £130. Also, Kinect relies on hand/body movement only, as with the PS Move you have have physical controllers for shooter games etc. I'm not sure how you'd be able to do that with Kinect, unless they bring out a gun controller that'll be picked up by Kinect.

    - It can also play Blu-ray discs
Blu-rays do look immense. When I saw The Dark Knight on BLu-ray, I was blown away.

    - More secure
Xbox has been hacked, so favourited games such as Call of Duty has been exploited so people can change the rules of online lobbies or give themselves unlimited ammo etc.

The Wii... meh. All it really has now are its exclusives (Zelda, Pokemon, Metroid, Mario etc.).

Now having said all that, the Xbox is a good console, it's just when I personally weigh up the options, I prefer the PS3.

I've given up with this imaginary charade you call the console war.
I will do you the favour of listing all the pros and cons of all three consoles, however.

    Pros
    - Motion Controls
    - Enjoyable games, good range
