What the title says. When do you believe that Pokemon, specifically as a game franchise, will end? Will it ever end? I can imagine it would if the games stop getting tons of sales, but that is currently far from the case and it is in fact still the highest grossing media franchise.

And more questions, how would you inagine it would end? And if not, can you possibly imagine this entire series staying relevant until possibly the end of the universe?

Video games are such a new medium of entertainment that it makes this question much harder to answer. Most forms of entertainment expand and evolve, however many video game franchises especially Nintendo related products stay true to a formula.

I think it depends on the video game industry as a whole. Nothing lasts forever, however I think Pokemon will adapt to the direction of the industry. Technology changes so quickly it's hard to say what video games will even look like 20 or 40 years. I believe Pokemon will hang around, however if it stays around long enough it'll be unrecognizable from what it looks like today.

pokemon's been around 25 years so far, what's 25 more yknow?

as much of a shitpost as this sounds i mean this genuinely; when you really put into perspective how long the franchise has been around, it really does seem like it'll last a very long time. when you factor in the fact that it's a cash-cow making billions upon billions, pokemon is in no danger of being irrelevant anytime even in the next half decade lmao. so while it won't last forever, it'll last a significantly long time that it might as well feel like it.

Honestly, I think so. The series is still massively popular and I want to believe it'll continue indefinitely. With the amount the franchise makes, that hope doesn't seem farfetched. But at the same time, it's pretty clear to longtime fans that the quality of the games has been degrading a little bit. In my ideal world the series continues indefinitely and the staff get more time to make games without being forced to meet specific deadlines. I just can't see it ending in the near future at all. Occasionally I do think about where the series will be 25 years from now - on one hand it's already been 25 so like colours said, what's 25 more? but on the other hand that would put Pokémon at actively existing for half a century. Which is pretty crazy. Then again, Scooby Doo first started in 1969 and still has new series/movies being made today, so it doesn't seem too strange to think of Pokémon being able to be that way also? Helps put it into perspective haha.

If we do get immersive AR in the future though, I can only imagine how fun and weird it would be to play Pokémon. Like, I'd love to be immersed in actually battling with Pokémon using AR, but seeing a Flamethrower come at your team seems like it would honestly be terrifying tbh.

If it makes money, people will keep pushing games out for it. Seeing as Pokemon still makes millions in sales, I don't see them giving up the franchise anytime soon.
