World Travelers?

Any other world travelers here on the community?

Share your visits, your top five favorites and where you plan to go next!

I've been to 100 countries so far and my top five are definitely; Japan, Iraq, Australia, Argentina and Armenia.

My next destinations will be Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and finally Afghanistan on one trip of about a week and a half.

Still hoping to visit South Africa soon...

that's awesome! I can only dream about visiting half as many countries as that.

personally, other than my home country of russia and the US (where I currently live) I've been to canada, mexico, france, australia, and south africa. if you consider short layovers where I didn't go past the airport, the united arab emirates would be another one. maybe I'm missing some but these are a few I can recall atm. o/

I wouldn't call myself a "world" traveler, I've only been around Europe. Aside from my home country of Croatia, I've been to every ex-yugo country (except for Kosovo), Hungary, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, Italy and Ukraine.

My dream destinations? Iceland and Okinawa. Hopefully one day...

I love Russia! My first visit I was nervous so I wanted to blend in. Thinking it would be cold in Moscow I wore this big furry coat and when we got there it was so hot and humid 😅

ahahah yeah, sure russia has a lot of cold places, but that's definitely not how the whole country is! I was from the tropics (sochi) and moscow is generally not as super cold as people assume either. that seems like an amusing experience though \o/

I've been all around Australia, which is further than most Europeans travel when they actually leave their home country lol. Otherwise I've only been outside the country once, when I went to Hong Kong as a kid... which was a miserable experience.

I don't really like travel much though. It's more stress than it's worth most of the time.

Hong Kong is okay, pretty to look at at night anyways. But I was there on Chinese New Year last year. Good lord it was a battle. 😂

I prefer places with ruins and historical sights but I'm open to doing ecotourism too. The Amazon is incredible, especially interesting to fish for piranhas!

The people there were (mostly) lovely, but it was also a very overcrowded and grimy place and neither the shopping nor the tourist attractions really did anything for me. I did, however, really enjoy Ocean Park. So I'll give it that one!

When I landed in St. Petersburg from Prague the lady asked me in Russian where I came from and I said hello in Czech. She got really angry and banged her fist on the desk "WHERE. FROM. FLIGHT.", she shouted in a roaring fury 😅

Iceland is beautiful in the winter! We were lucky enough to see the auroras during our visit. When you go and if you are interested, there's some wreckage of a non-fatal plane crash on the beach. Don't remember the name but it's on the Ring Road well before you reach the glacial lagoon with all the icebergs. Okinawa I have not been to, I am always in Japan in the winter it seems.

You will make it one day to both, just as one day I will make it to Croatia!

My country is too big to be able to travel out of with any ease.
I've never left it T_T

So far I've been to a few cities in China, (I live in Australia but my family is Chinese!), Hong Kong, Japan, England, France, Italy, Switzerland... I've also been to the US twice and Canada. I also went to New Zealand as a kid and I've been to a lot of the cities within Australia. Very lucky to have been able to travel throughout HS and hopefully will get to travel in the next few years - if corona clears up more I hope to go on a 1 year exchange to the UK for uni and explore other European countries whilst I'm overseas. :D

What is your country if I may ask?

I live in the US, a few hours from Washington DC and New York City not too far beyond, so it's easy to get to the airports that have lower fares.

The country above yours. Air fares are ridiculous here, no matter what.

Ohhhh I see. Canada sometimes has good deals but usually it's only Vancouver. Hong Kong and Tokyo flights I've found under $400 USD. But if you're somewhere in between the two I can see how it would be hard to get to those cities to go onward. Domestic airfare in the US and Canada is awful!

Toronto Airport I don't like, I always end up in the terminal that has 50 Tim Horton's but no actual food. 😂

Yes, that's what I mean. I'm in Halifax and if I want to fly to like Montreal it's ridiculous.

I think Canada and the US are basically the same in terms of like culture and stuff and are both recent countries so idk if it'd be interesting to go there.

I would suggest the southern or southwestern part of the US. New Mexico, Arizona and Utah have a lot of rich culture from long ago. I would say don't bother with big cities like New York, LA, etc.

Such a great destination! I also want to travel to Belarus and East Russia (especially Siberia and Kamchatka Krai).
For now, my best place to visit was Turkey (Gaziantep).

Belarus is one of the next places I'll go! Have thought about eastern Russia and Kamchatka for a while but never have gone yet, maybe in the future. Would love to visit North Korea one day when its easier to go...

Haven't been to Gazientep but have explored Istanbul along with Ephesus and some interesting places in that area.

I'm not much of a traveler. I've been to a few states in the US for misc. reasons. I've been to Canada once, and it was a peaceful place. We went to a castle there and we went on a water boat thing. Very nice. I went to Mexico, the Bahamas maybe once each? I haven't been to Europe or anywhere East of Eastern Standard Time though. I live in Eastern Standard time btw. Honestly, I think I have slight fear of traveling, but I get over it quick once i'm at my destination. Sorry i'm boring.

At least you have seen a few places, that's way better than nothing at all! I never thought I'd leave US soil but once I did, I wasn't able to stop. Travel can be addicting 😄

My mom was the same way about traveling, especially when it came to the Middle East. After Egypt though she mellowed out and then Iraq ended up being one of her favorite places. Still trying to get her ready for Afghanistan though 😅

i'd like to

i'm getting out of the tech sector and going into driving specifically so i can travel more. i want to travel the country. i'm hoping to get my cdl in spring.
