and post mega evolution too if the mega stone isn't temporarily used up upon evolution.

Yet another reason I am hating mega evolutions: More and more pokemon either need to be trained, bred and taught moves and abilities based on their mega evolution OR their normal evolution.

To further elaborate: when a Pokemon Mega Evolves, it keeps the Mega Stone, even after the battle is over and/or if that Pokemon faints.

I agree, the held item cannot be lost, making Unburden useless.

And Megas tend to have a single fixed Ability regardless of the prior Ability. Therefore, I would suggest not to worry about Unburden if it will hold a Mega Stone.

I plan to breed Eggs for all starters, potentially with some Egg Moves, and hatch them upon receiving so they train at the game level rather than at the accelerated rate for other OTs and IDs.

Overgrow is still the preferred ability for Sceptile pre-Mega Evolution because if Sceptile somehow gets to Overgrow range before it Mega Evolves, it can take advantage of that boost to decimate stuff with its Grass STAB.

That is very risky though...

Oh I get that part, what I was asking was WHILE the pokemon has mega evolved would the mega stone TEMPORARILY disappear (the way berries disappear in wifi battles, but after the battle, the items reappear) I understand now that it doesn't, but I knew that it wouldn't permanently disappear. And I totally disagree that Overgrow is a superior power, it's the whole reason I traded so hard to find a Treecko with the Unburden ability (so salac berry and Unburden give it a two level speed increase rather than a 50% boost to ONLY grass type moves. Bleh. If something outspeeds it it wouldn't matter if grass moves got a 900% boost. and now if I go ahead with breeding it's useless unless I never mega evolve it. (again, why I hate mega evolutions more as I hear about more of them)

While the Pokemon remains Mega Evolved, it keeps the Mega Stone.

Salac Berry + Unburden is plain overkill on Sceptile's naturally high Speed. Once the Unburden boost kicks in, any other Speed boosts gained is redundant. And Sceptile isn't that strong, really, so the 50% boost from Overgrow gives its STABs more power. Once it's Mega Sceptile, though, it can switch in to predicted Electric moves for a +1 boost in Special Attack via Lightning Rod.

yeah but it's ONLY for grass moves, speed is good for everything overall. And Alakazam, Dugtrio, Ninjask, Electrode, Jolteon, Aerodactyl, Crobat, Swellow and Weavile all already outspeed it to begin with, so while it may be overkill, boosting speed by 100% instead of 50% is more beneficial to me (particularly against things like Ninjask with speed boost who have a double resistance to grass, not to mention all the other pokemon that can learn speed boosting moves and abilities and items) I prefer not putting all my eggs in one basket on boosting just the one move for one time (cause frankly, once you get down to red, you're likely only in for one more hit anyway, at least with a doubled speed you have more options with being able to choose a super effective move if you have it), not to mention what if I want to use OTHER berries or consumable items to get just the 50% speed boost pplus a 50% boost in another stat or an effect from the item? Overall, WAY more options with Unburden than Overgrow.

Uh, hey. Not sure if this is where I should post this, but...

I have a Magikarp. Lonely nature, Likes to thrash about, no EVs at all (just hatched, stats at level 50 are 87/33/57/25/33/100, and I need to check it's IVs. BUT Serebii keeps saying:
Serebii said:
Magikarp Lv.50 does not compute!
Defense (57) should be 60 to 75.
The Effort Points or Nature may be inaccurate.

Aaaand apparently the Attack is too high as well. This is confusing me to no end. I checked and it is the X and Y calculator and not the Advance one or whatever, so I don't know what's wrong. I need to know for some Egg Pseudo-RNG abuse... Thanks in advance. :)

I put in your Magikarp's stats in Serebii's IV calculator and it worked fine for me. Here are the results:

#129 Magikarp [Lonely]
IVs: 14, 15 / 31 / 8, 9 / 10, 11 / 16, 17 / 30, 31
Stats at Lv.50: 87 / 33 / 57 / 25 / 33 / 100

I think you made a typo when you inputted Magikarp's stats.

Oh, thanks! That's weird, I checked I don't even know how many times, and it was all correct...

EDIT: Uh, what. I just put it in the Advance Calculator, and I got the same results as you. Copy-Pasted it onto the XY calculator, error again. o.o

I got a question concerning about using the Masuda Method for shiny pokemon. Do you need to have the game left on or off when using this method?

One question about GameStop even Pokemon.

I have a question about the new Pokemon being distributed at Game stop this coming fall. Since my family is having economic problems lately i don't think there going to be able to take me to game stop for the distribution *I live really far away from Game Stop and don't have any others close by*. If i call Game Stop and ask for a Serial code for the Pokemon will they give it to me? Or do I need to go to the store and connect to their WiFi or something like that * i haven't done this before*? thanks

What events are you referring to? The only ones I am aware of are these ones: https://www.serebii.net/games/currentevents.shtml

Anything that's not listed no one knows the details of yet until said events are listed somewhere

I think he means the upcoming Diancie event. And I have a similar problem. I live in Ireland, where first of there is no Gamestop, and second they never put store events anywhere in Irealnd :/ :(

What's the point in genderless Pokemon having egg moves? Unless I'm missing something they are completely unavailable to get? I was looking through Klefkis moveset and I kinda wanted one that had Iron Defence which is an egg move.

Genderless Pokemon cannot have moves bred down, period. For your information Klefki learns Iron Defense when bred with the Roggenrola, Ferroseed or Honedge lines, all of which are gendered.

Yeah i was reffering to the upcomming Diance and/or Shiny Gengar event it says the serial codes should be avalible in october

Ingrain or Grassy Terrain for a leech seed staller? I know the negatives of both (Ingrain prevents switching out, Grassy Terrain gives ALL pokemon on the ground HP recovery and only lasts 5 turns, However, it also boosts Grass type moves, weakens EarthQuake and a couple of other ground type moves and recovers hp for my whole team rather than just the user. (Again, I know, it also does that for the opposite team too)) so I'm just trying to figure out which move I should use. The Pokemon I was going to use already had Ingrain bred onto it before I realized about Grassy Terrain, but I'm still nto sure which I should go with. (And yes, it will be holding Leftovers already as well)

Ingrain is probably better. The HP recovery that Grassy Terrain gives your opponent basically negates the damage done by Leech Seed, and Grass types already resist Earthquake anyway. If you're stalling, it's not like you're gonna switch out to another Pokemon until the stall is complete anyway.

Those are really excellent points and make a ton of sense. I just wish you had posted yesterday before I did all the requirements involved to get a parent with Grassy Terrain! ;-) Oh well, the mother still has Ingrain, so I didn't lose anything other than time. Thanks very much for the well thought out reasons. (I hate answers that are "the standard is ______" or whatever, I like posts like this that actually give reasons for why one is better than the other)

Does Infernape only learn 4 punching moves? (two of them being fighting type?)

Friend Code Help

Two people have added me and they say that they have different types of pokemon in my friend safari. Why is this? Could it have something to do with me playing two different versions of X and Y over the time that they were adding me?

PS: If there is a thread that explains this, I apologise.
