...you expect me to wear this?

Do you insist on certain brands or styles when it comes to clothing? If so, why? Do you think that someone who does this has a strong sense of style, is overly picky, or anything else?

It depends on what extent they take it to, and what kinds of clothes they are. For example, I have a friend that only wears one brand of jeans. It's just for the very simple reason that every brand of jeans fits a tad differently, and those jeans are the only brand that fit her the way she needs. But she's not like that in any other way so it's not really picky of her.

What I mean by 'kinds of clothes' is, for example, t-shirts. 90% of shirts all fit the same way and are of similar quality. To only wear one brand of shirt is just picky, not to do with the brand itself.

As for myself, I don't really gravitate towards any clothing brands, but I do in shoes because I've noticed that all the brand names I've bought have lasted years instead of the weeks the knockoffs have lasted.

If I find a brand I like I tend to go to them whenever I need something new because I know what I'm getting from them, but with some things the brand doesn't matter, like socks, and I'll just get whatever I find/want. What I care about more is quality and that's usually a matter of any-brand-I've-heard-of vs. generic-or-no-name-brand. Not that I mind generic stuff sometimes, but I wouldn't buy something important in generic.

Anyone who only does one brand of something is probably a little picky, but hey, if you know what you like then good for you.

I don't mind any particular brands when it comes to shirts, shorts and pants because they all feel the same to me.

I think some people may gravitate towards any certain popular brand (Aeropostale, American Eagle, etc, at least where I'm from) because their friends are wearing a tee-shirt from that brand. I notice this a lot in my school, where one guy/girl says he/she really doesn't think that the tee-shirt he/she's wearing isn't all that great, but if his/her friends are wearing this brand, he/she has to wear it too. The way I see it, I guess, is that sticking to one particular brand is a way of climbing the ladder of social popularity.

On another note, a person may gravitate towards a quality yet unpopular brand to define their individuality. If they see that an unknown, obscure brand is equal in quality to a popular brand, then they might stick with that particular brand, just so that they do not "fit the mold".

Personally, I don't stick with a brand. If it looks cool and is relatively comfortable, then I'll wear it. Though I do tend to prefer a certain brand of shoes, mostly cuz they look cool and they're awesomely comfy.

Not at all. I just don't find such things important.

I really don't care about the brands to be honest. As long I think I look nice in the clothing, it doesn't matter to me. Although I am a sucker for brands and will generally look at branded clothing before I make a selection, the brands themselves don't determine what I buy. They shouldn't have to, lol. If I look like a fashionista regardless of the brands I'm wearing or not wearing, who cares!

I only wear band shirts, directly from the band, and non-profit organization shirts (like Invisible Children) to support them. The only brand of shoes I wear are vegan and not made in sweatshops by Macbeth and Sanuk. Anything else, I don't really care what brand it is unless I don't agree with their worker conditions.

I don't favour any brand, but I do avoid certain brands. Pretty much all the big American names, I don't want to pay extra just to have a brand name on my clothes, or support business giants. I'd rather get clothes from a thrift store. If I were to shell out and buy some expensive clothing I'd go with a European brand. I avoid Nike and subsequently Converse, and Dr. Martens specifically for footwear as well. Don't want to support them.

Apart from avoiding some brands, I just judge something by how it looks and by actually wearing it.

I don't wear any brand-name things. Not because I don't want to, just because I don't have the patience to go clothes shopping. I find the whole experience boring. Perhaps if I had somebody fun to shop with my entire wardrobe would be different.

The closest I have to brand-name stuff is my new plethora of Hot Topic T-shirts, which are my favourite items of clothing ever. The only reason I have them is because my sister went to America and sent them back for me... so I managed to circumvent the shopping trip.

This is something I've personally never understood. The not wanting to pay extra bit I get, but is it some sort of moral stand against supporting big business? I've never really understood why it matters how large a company is. Is it a case of tall-poppy syndrome, where once something gets too large people feel the need to tear it down again? Once I start actively going out and buying clothes (position for fun shopping buddy remains open, by the way. You can leave your CVs with my assistant Sven), I'll just be supporting whatever brand I think looks best on me.

Yes. Pretty much. I'd rather support small businesses that actually need the money. Plus a lot of them exploit foreign workers for cheap labour, Nike is the best example, but most of them do it.

I think that I am pretty fashionable
I tend to wear clothes from JayJays, City Beach and Cotton On.
Love my Miami Heat Snapback :3
I primarily wear V Necks because I think they look much better than Tees and Polos.
I normally wear shorts - tends to be the teenage fashion in Australia.
I love Vans and plain black canvas shoes with black socks. Looks so good haha
    I hate Converse though

I'm not too picky on clothing. In fact, I may come to school wearing shorts and slippers with t-shirts of course only. I'm not too much of a fashionista.

nope, my fashion tastes are usually whatever I get as gifts or what free T-shirts are given away at college events. I couldn't care less about name brands, at least when it comes to something like clothing... as long as it's comfortable, isn't ugly and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I'll wear it.

Nah. As long as it looks nice on me, lasts rather long, and I'm comfortable wearing it, I'm not picky at all with clothing. Especially when it comes to shoes, since I've been wearing the same shoes since Junior year of high school. I think the people who are overly picky are condescending and a little ungrateful for what they have.

If I'm shopping for myself, I'll tend to gravitate towards shops like H&M and Zara when buying clothes. H&M is reasonably priced and makes a lot of stuff that I think I look good in. Zara is a bit more high-end but has slightly better materials and is good for more up-market stuff. If other people are buying for me, however, I'll normally not be picky in the slightest. So long as it looks good on me, I'll happily wear something that someone has bought for me.

I feel like I get more picky when my family buys for me. My logic is this: they're spending their hard-earned money on clothing for me. I don't want to insult them by having them buy me something and then almost never wearing it because I'm not absolutely in love with what they got me. It doesn't offend anyone if I buy something and then don't wear it much, but it would offend my family if they bought me something and I didn't wear it much. So I become more picky to make sure that what they get me, they'll see me wearing a lot because I actually do love it. xD

Can't afford to be picky when it comes to brands. Sure, if I had the money I'd probably buy most of my stuff from Men's Warehouse, but that's not because I particularly care about the brand, it's just that they have such a good selection. So yeah, I just get stuff wherever it's on sale! :D

Now with what style the clothes are I'm much more picky. Call me old fashioned, but I don't want to go out of the house not wearing a suit and tie. And usually my hat, too.

That said, I can totally understand if someone only wants to wear things from a certain brand or something. If they have the money to do so, then go for it.

/could totally ramble on about shopping all day. xD

As all of my friends could tell you I am allergic to clothes shopping so I know maybe three brands of clothing to begin with, let alone care about wearing. So it's brandless clothing for me.
