What is the strangest, most bizarre game you've ever played? It can be strange in terms of gameplay or story (or both). Was it a good kind of weird, or was it just too weird to be enjoyable?

Thread title is a reference to Octodad: Dadliest Catch - it was a bit short, but I really liked it. The story was completely absurd (in a hilarious way), and I found the gameplay challenging yet still fun.

Another one I played last year was Jazzpunk - it's a first-person adventure game and you play as secret agent Polyblank in a world of robot hookers and pigeon-degaussing. I'm not quite sure how to describe it without writing too much, so I'll just take its official description - "a comedy adventure set in an alternate reality Cold War World, plagued with corporate espionage, CyberCrime, and sentient martinis. Gameplay is inspired by spoof comedy films and cartoons of yesteryear, with a focus on weird gadgets, exotic locales, and open-world style exploration". Probably the weirdest game I've played to date, but it was very entertaining and made me laugh a lot.

Persona 3 would be up there. It's about a bunch of high school students who summon a facet of their psyche call a "Persona" by taking a bullet to the head.

Hyperdimension Neptunia... Yeah...

Oh, and an obligatory mention of Katamari Damacy.

Sonic 2006. I seriously have no idea how half the glitches(like randomly teleporting when hitting a dash pad) can actually exist in the game. And yeah the story is akward too.

If I didn't know what Octodad was, I'd wonder what the hell is up with the title. And even when I knew, I thought this is a thread about Octodad. It isn't.

I dislike confusing and misleading titles.

Anyway, Metal Gear Solid 2. Only game to ever ♥♥♥♥ with my mind.

Dante's Inferno for the Xbox 360. It's not that the game is really "out there"; rather, the game actually did a really good accurate representation of the levels of Hell, but the character designs were very grotesque and gory. As such, my 16 year old mind at the time - in my good ol' days as a Christian boy - couldn't really wrap my head around what the heck I was looking at. Especially - if the small, rare chance that there are people who played this game, then they'd know what I'm talking about - in the Lust level. The boss at the end is a naked deformed Cleopatra, and boy was that an...interesting sight to fight against her.

I'll leave a link to the battle if you want to check it out. Just note that the video game content does contain in-game nudity, so if you are easily offended by that then I wouldn't check it out. Link

What is bizarre about that? :DDDD
It's normal :D

Um... Farming Simulator. Nothing more bizarre for me.

Default Dan really screwed with my head and made me feel like an idiot. It's a really crazy game about messing with your platforming skills.

Have to agree with this. The game totally twists with your mind and goes against all fundamentals of gaming. Spikes are now good, coins are bad, random blocks will kill you; every step you take is another step closer to death. I'm pretty sure games like this have been done in the past, but my god was that game just a headache to wrap your mind around.

I'd have to say Alice Madness Returns if anything. The trek between reality and Wonderland blended in to where I felt like I was on a bad acid trip but it was still very, very fun regardless.

Viva Pinata is kind of a wild experience. In what world does gardening and unlocking pinatas sound fun? I guess this one, because I love that game. :D

South Park: The Stick of Truth. I don't think any storyline can be more ♥♥♥♥ed up than that. Just look what they did to Canada!

Likened to The Sims, Animal Crossing, and Harvest Moon,[2] the game tasks the player with turning a neglected plot of land into a beautiful garden.[3]

...I must have this game. D:

Canada was probably one of my favorite parts of the game. {XD} But yeah, there were so many WTF moments in Stick of Truth. Just like the show.

Oh god that game was rad.

Probably LSD Dream Emulator for me though. It's based off of a dream journal that a staff member from the development team had been keeping for a decade. For its time, it was probably as close to a dream 'emulator' as you can get as far as video games were concerned. It's incredibly random, you rarely get the exact same outcome every time, and the environments span from weird in a humorous manner, extremely bizarre, or flat-out disturbing...also the background music is exactly the same musical score played in different tones. Take that as you will.
