Hey I just created this thread to get everyone's opinion on everyone's favorite dragon quest game of all Time.
What's your favorite Dragon quest game? Post here to let me knowl
If we ignore spinoffs - because the Builders series is amazing and I actually enjoyed the first Heroes game more than I expected to! - at the moment (because I am still playing through XI S) it's probably Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen. I enjoyed playing from the perspective of each party member before they all joined up, and there was some great variety to the gameplay, too: Torneko really stands out to me as an atypical character in a JRPG, especially considering how old this game is. It's a pretty standout game and persuaded me to give the series another chance...something that I was previously unwilling to do, because I didn't enjoy IX much at all.
V was pretty great though. Debora is the correct choice.
I have to admit I only have one Dragon Quest game: DQ8. It's good, and I think if I get to play the others I'll have a more solid opinion, but by default that one is my favorite.
I'm just glad it got rereleased on the 3DS. I've read so many good things about it, almost the same level as Mother 3, so I really wanted to get a copy.

hmm, i didn't mind DQIX though because there's almost infinite replay value at the endgame with the dungeon system. but i agree in some ways it was a letdown. but you should try DQ7 and DQ8.

They're on my to-do list...I actually own every Dragon Quest game from I through to XI (excluding X) and I just haven't gotten around to playing a lot of them yet, haha.
Dragon Quest 8 was my first and probably will always be my favourite DQ game. definitely enjoyed the more colourful personalities of the main characters.
