What do you think of Apple's gold mine that is basically an mp3 player with a fancy shell?

I personally think it's fail. iPods are Mp3 players, just renamed to appear to be something new and unique.

It is an mp3 player you gigantic retard.

Apple succeeded in branding it's product as something more than an mp3 player and it's apparently got through to you, congratulations.

What point are you even trying to make?

    Reported.

I know it's an mp3 player, and this was totally uncalled for. You're obviously an Apple fanboy. I'm going to just ignore your opinion, because nothing an Apple fanboy feels he needs to say matters.

That was totally uncalled for, you could have made the same point without being so rude. Make sure to be more considerate in the future.

FYI, I've owned an iPod, so don't even try to pull that on me.

I own a Ipod and it to me personally is my Mp3 player. It has more features than an Mp3 player Equilibrium. But it doesn't matter which one you buy you just need to spend more money for a Ipod. It does not matter which one again.

I beg to differ, my Zen has:

    Video
    FM Radio
    Voice Recorder
    Photos
an awesome screen with 16 FREAKING MILLION COLOUR SUPPORT
and an SD card slot for more memory.

4GB of space by default, for $100.

The only thing the iPod has above my Zen is games.

@Equilibrium: Alright, enough. Eureka1 has already been warned, you don't need to go on about it. So just drop it, please.

Okay, I'll get back on topic.

As for my previous post: No, I wasn't paid to do that.

I've used an iPod for a number of years now and find that I take advantage of it's ability to double as a large Flash drive in a pinch when I have a large file(s) that I want to bring home from school or the library. I haven't been able to find another Mp3 player that can do that and still maintain compatibility with the variety of OS's I use.

I don't have an iTouch but I do have an iPod nano, i've expereienced other MP3 players and they are more fragile, hard to use, horrible screens, and no accessories unlike the iPod which has 100's of accessories. (and when was the last time you saw an MP3 player with 160 gigs(40,000 songs))

    iPod > MP3 Players

    iPods are basically just ridiculously overpriced MP3 players with terrible sound quality. That being said, I own an 8 GB iPod nano xD;

I don't hate it, it just feels kinda flimsy, like I could drop it once and have the entire shatter. The iPod touch looks kick-ass, though.

    I'm afraid you're wrong there.

    iPod = MP3 player

There's nothing special about an iPod, really. And who really needs 160 gigs of space?

The main reason I don't like iPods is because it has a number of DRM technologies that other MP3 players don't have.

The iPod is for more than just music, you have to remember that. The iPod video was made for a REASON. That and as Gerri put it, you can use it as a flash drive too. There's nothing wrong with having a huge amount of space on there, cause the space is there when you need it and you're not worrying about it :|

With all due respect to Apple's fans, I just don't see what's so appealing about it. Yeah, it looks cool, and I will give it points for that, but I've heard they're not that durable.

Well, Yes, the old iPods are a waste of time. Apple really just gave an MP3 Player a new cover and sold it as something else.

However, the new generation iPods, more specifically, the iPod Touch, has alot of features, from Maps, to Organiser, Contacts, Calculator, etc. To aid its usefulness, people have made homebrew products for the iPod Touch, yes, that may Void warranty, but a software restore could fix that.

So in my opinion, the old iPods are quite useless, but the New iPod Touch is not a waste of time and/or money at all.

Well sweeties, in my humble opinion, I really don't see the appeal to them or the hype.
They're convenient for portable media, but they're kinda pricey.

I have one too, but it was stolen from my one of my roommates a gift. XD

I have a 30GB 4th generation iPod video, and I've had it for about a year now. In terms of durability, this iPod has outlasted even my 1GB Creative ZEN V, among other MP3 players I've owned; albeit a dent or two around the corners. I've dropped in on concrete and have gotten it wet multiple times, and it's still working just as fine as it did when I got it.

I must admit, when I was looking into buying an iPod to replace the fourth MP3 player I've owned, I was afraid that the iPod wasn't going to be as good as everyone had been telling me it was. When I did get my iPod, I was very happy with the looks, the quality, everything about it. They're pricey, yes, but I really haven't gotten better quality elsewhere in my experience.
