My family has always had pets around, so I could never live a life without some animal to keep me company. The family currently has two cats, two dogs, and a hamster.
Well, the oldest pets we have living here now are the two cats. We got them at the same time in 1998 after our other cat died after seventeen years of a good life. My mother wanted to get kittens because I had never had an experience with kittens. So we got two.
The first one that we got was Luna, a mostly black cat with a white spot on her chest and a white patch on her stomach. She was named "Luna" because of the cat on Sailor Moon. Yeah. XD We were worried about her, because she would sleep a lot, even falling asleep during play. And when we would feed her, she would growl at the other cat. Luna's now ten years old, and is a rather chubby kitty. She's mostly my mother's cat, following her around the house.
The other cat is Speedy, and she's my cat. She's named after a character from Samurai Pizza Cats, and Speed Racer. She's all white with green eyes. When she was a kitten, I would hold her all the time, so she just got used to being with me. Now she won't leave me alone. She's also pretty mean to the other pets of the house, but that comes from being spoiled rotten. She spends most of her time on my bed. She's also ten years old. (There's only two week's difference between the two cats' birthdays.)
Then there's my Jack Russell Terrier, Ella. I got her from a breeder at a dog show in 2005 (so she's three years old now), where she became attached to me in a matter of seconds. She cried when my dad put her in the back of the van because she wanted to sit next to me in her cage. She's fuzzier than most Jacks. Before, she used to escape from the back yard until we fixed the fence. Her breeder said that she could be trained to run agility, but all that she does now is chase opossums and squirrels. And she has allergies, and bad teeth, and dry skin, and bad nails. Oi.
The other dog is Chloe, a mixed breed dog. She's part sled dog, part American Eskimo (and we wonder if she has some coyote in her, since she came from Kansas). She's mostly white, with tan on her back. And the fur on her back is also water-proof, from her sled dog side. She's crazy, and wild, and squeaks, but she's still only a puppy at one year old.
And then there's the hamster, a little dwarf hamster that's brown and white. She's Grumpy Apple the Ninja Hamster. She's punches me with her claws, she bites me if I try pick her up, and she attacks the spoon I use to fill her food dish. But she still loves being taken around the house. All I hear is her running in her wheel all night long with food rattling around. I got her in the beginning of January.
Yeah, that's about it for them all. XD
