    ...no, seriously, you're on fire

Hopefully you haven't experienced this, cause it's a huge pain, but have you ever burned yourself/gotten burned? If so, when, where, and how bad was it? If not... consider yourselves lucky? D=

    Damn typo, go burn

The only time I've gotten burned was cooking-wise. Hot oil hates my skin.

    :t132:

Pretty much. Most of my burns have been through some sort of culinary catastrophe. Oil, chicken, boiling water from pasta... all culprits. The burns have never been serious - just needing cold water for the most part - but they've always left some sort of war wound to make me remember (which I NEVER do!)

Yup, piece of plastic was burning in the fire, jumped out and landed on my left arm, it was a horrible pain and it burnt my skin off had to goto hospital and I was having appointments for a whole year and this was about 2007 and I've still got the scar D:

I had a bottle rocket blow up in my hand, causing all the skin on my palm to try white. So I started cussing profusely, and ranting about how pissed I was cause I had two shoot at me and forgot my was in my hand. So I went ran cold water on it, then put burn cream on it. And had it bond in a rag the whole day. It seemed to hurt like no other for at least 4-5 days. Then it was fine a 1 or 2 after that. If you count an extreme sunburn as a burn then I had one hell of a sunburn. This hurt so bad at times it felt like I was going to die, I couldn't sleep proper for 2-3 weeks after the intial burn. And I was peeling for a month. Although this was my fault for working in the yard in the dog days of the summer in the middle of the day with 100 degree temputures for three hours without wearing a shirt, so my whole body from my waist up was burnt.

Not seriously but I've been burned a few times while cooking; got my hand to close to the oven, hot oil or grease flying. Once I touched a piece of plastic that I put near the stove, and it hurt like hell.

One time, I burned my index finger while I touched a toaster while it was still running. It took a few weeks for it to heal, and I didn't get burned again after that.

I've burnt my ears and hands on my straightening irons plenty of times >.>
There is nothing more annoying than a burnt, scabby ear D: It's not the worst of burns but its still pretty ouch if you catch it with a hairbrush. ><

I have burned myself 3 times that I can remember. Two of them were on electric stove-top burners and were not serious at all.

Once while I was working at Burger King though, I grabbed the fry basket out of the fryer too fast and it swung around and got my arm. Due to how incredibly hot fryer grease is and the fact I was working and unable to wash it off as immediately as I should have I got a pretty wicked burn. I still have the scar, as well. I had to work 7.5 more hours with that burn, too. So no first aid for it until I got home 8 hours after the incident.

When I was like 10, I was playing some guitar. Without looking, I try and set my pick to the left of me onto a table. However, little did I know there was a candle there. I look at the pick, and all of a sudden its on fire. Panicking, i run to the kitchen, the flaming pick starts to burn my hand. Scared, I drop it in the first thing see: the garbage. Then the garbage can, filled with garbage, is aflame. I start screaming, my dad runs down, throws it outside, ,and hoses it down. My hand is black and burnt, but overall it was a fun day :3

My friend got too close to a boiling tea kettle the other day, his arm is blistered now.

My sister and I have gotten sunburns so bad that they were considered 2nd and 3rd degree burns, and one of us needed to wear burn cream and not go to school because it was so bad.

I scalded my tongue several times while eating soup or drinking tea, nothing serious though.

I did got into a nasty accident at newsyearseve '02/'03. there was, except for my family, almost nobody on that street. 2 guys were standin quite distance away from us when suddenly their rocket stand tipped over, sending that rocket on a crash course strait towards us. I tried to get away, but it hit my foot and lower leg. Leaving 2 flesh wounds on my lower leg and 3 small burn marks on my left foot. It flew a bit farther after that and exploded approximately 5-6 meters away from me.

It cured pretty well, I still have the scars, but i got lucky it didn't flew strait up after it hit me and exploded in my face...

I still set off fireworks every year, I am extra careful though.

When I was like eight years old, I was going out with my family and I was wearing shorts (they're comfy and easy to wear...and it was in the middle of summer). After I got out of the car my brother and I were horseplaying and I ended up backing up against the still-running car and burning the back of my leg on the exhaust pipe. I had a second-degree burn that lasted for about a month.

Other than that, it's mostly been sunburns and holding on to matches/lighters too long. XD

When I was a little kid, I reached up and put my hand flat on the stove... It was turned on...

I had to soak my hand in cold water for a few days straight, even when I was asleep... just trying to make it stop hurting.

I've burnt myself a few times cooking. First time on a toaster oven, a few times by just being an idiot. :P I got an electrical burn around Christmas once, too, and that kinda sucked. I was plugging in a small Christmas tree and the outlet didn't like it or there was a bare wire or something. Regardless, I got a small burn and so did the desk it was resting on.

Nothing exciting but I suppose that's really for the best.

I work at a pizza place with two 500F ovens, heat lamps, and a very hyperactive steamer. I cannot count the times I've gotten burned from there alone. You learn pretty fast to avoid the hot stuff. Amazingly I haven't gotten any permanent scars from the place.

I've also gotten a few burns from cooking outside of work. The most infamous was back in high school, when I was frying eggplant and a bunch of grease splashed up on my pinky. It suuuuucked. ;___; Also, one time at home, I splashed boiling water onto my stomach. I was wearing a tight-fitting shirt. It blistered immediately. Still have a scar and this was months and months ago, maybe even half a year ago. :(
