View Full Version : Do you have bad police where you live?

February 13th, 2010, 2:23 AM
I swear most of the cops here are crooked. Right now a policewoman is in court facing criminal charges.

I notice that police are always around to cite you for something petty but they're never around when someone is killed or robbed or raped. Maybe if they'd focus on the real crime there would be less of it.

No, our community policeman is very attractive. I totally flirt with him sometimes. I say stuff like, "If I ring you in the middle of the night, will you come and keep me safe?" and he's like, "Well, I don't work at night, but I'm sure we could send someone out".

He totally fancies me!

February 13th, 2010, 2:58 AM
yes and no there are some police that want to help and some that can't be bothered, i've experienced this where they say 'we'll go and talk to them' and it doesn't actually happen

I think law enforcement are corrupt all around the world. I'm not saying the majority of policemen are corrupt, I'm saying corruption exsists in even the safest communities.

I actually know a policeman who got arrested for drink driving, he was a friend of my dad's. He lost his job and his driving lisence. Just because you enforce the law dosn't mean you follow it yourself.

February 13th, 2010, 4:31 AM
Well the police around here seem to be okay, like they aren't crook or anything.

not in the sense that they are corrupt, but there are definitely some inept officers around my area. I'm lucky, i live right next to my school, but that also means i have all the jerks that hang around the school for ages. Yesterday, a few from year 10 were fighting, like really badly, the were throwing eachother into shop windows (luckily nothing was broken), and what was the officer doing? Getting details off a speeding motorist a little down the road! The other ones that stay around the school for a while were busy outside the school having a chat.

We have fairly good police.

The police station built a skatepark right behind the station. So I guess that's good.

February 13th, 2010, 6:52 AM
Well, the fact it takes them around 4 hours tog et to your house, They suck.

February 13th, 2010, 6:56 AM
Yes they suck . They take forever when you ned thm and bother me and my friends for nothing

All the police here are racist, according to my friends. I haven't lived here long enough to find that out myself, which I probably wont actually find out for myself because I am white.. That's about it..?

The cops on campus are actually very polite and helpful.

But back home (where my parents still live) one of the neighboring towns' police department is having a litany of problems, including guys as high up as police chief accused of corruption and witness and evidence tampering and obstruction of justice.

February 13th, 2010, 7:11 AM
Not that I know of. I never hear anything bad about the police in my town. The police in the town I go to school to always get a bad rap though. I have a feeling it might just be because they catch all the kids in town at parties and such.

February 13th, 2010, 7:21 AM
I live in a pretty safe community, which is why most of the police are jerks. They've got nothing to do, so they respond to the most petty stuff and jump all over the smallest mistakes. I'm a big fan of police officers doing their job, but they don't need to be such jerks.

FreakyLocz14, at least you don't live in Oakland.

I've heard stories about my town's police falsely accusing people they don't like of things like drunk driving. I don't think they're all bad, but positions of authority attract certain types who like to abuse their power so I stay away from the police whenever possible.

I don't know, I've never spoken to one as I don't break the law, I just see them ocassionally sitting in their car by the road watching for people speeding and think that they should have something better to do.
My cousin (once removed) was a copper though, he didn't abide by the law, lol.

They're horrible here. Pocketing a lot of confiscated drugs, reckless driving on the way to a fast food joint, buying alcohol for minors while off duty... yeah, they're pretty bad.

They're all on a power trip, and are good at making up good lies to meet their speeding ticket quota. I hate them.

February 13th, 2010, 11:09 AM
Is there a good police? No.
Polices aren't good at all they BLOW.

February 13th, 2010, 11:21 AM
It really depends on who the officers are and who hangs around him or her. One of the cops in this county are actually a family friend of ours. He was even babysitting my baby sister the other day. Yeah, he's a good guy at heart. However, there are some police out there that are corrupted. Power attracts bad people, whether or not they show it.

February 13th, 2010, 12:12 PM
Around here, I hardly see, cops, to be honest. But there is hardly any crime here, so that makes up. :P

The few that I see are very kind. One helped me find my way to my friends house, cause I was lost. :( xD

Oh God Oakland is such a terrible place. The odd thing is with all the gang bangers and drug dealers and what not I might like having an agressive police force.

You would think the Oakland PD would have plenty of real crimes to deal with given the high crime rate so they wouldn't be so inclined to harass me for some petty citation offense anyone could make the mistake of commiting.

February 13th, 2010, 2:31 PM
Oh my God, yes! The Haymarket, VA police officers are the the worst!

I know I'm supposed to respect law enforcement, but these guys pull you over for just about anything! I was going 26mph in a 25 zone, and they pulled me over!

mondays suck

I'm living in a small village 30 kilometres away from a bigger city. There is pretty much no criminality here, so all the police has to do for most of the time is flashing speeders.
I rarely ever see them doing anything else than patroling or make speeches at school.

February 13th, 2010, 3:17 PM
Our school security gaurd does, he's like eighty years old and wouldn't be able to protect any of us at all. He can't see well either, so if an intruder came in he'd probably shoot an innocent high schooler by accident.
I could ramble about how crappy he is for days, but he's funny--he carries an umbrella and almost hit me with it once ^w^ He chases people with it when they walk on the grass we're not supposed to walk on. I'm pretty sure he would try to protect us if anything happened though.

February 13th, 2010, 3:19 PM
all cops r bad. they r power abusing maniacs

February 13th, 2010, 5:21 PM
Pretty much all the police in our area are very good. They keep everything in order.

February 13th, 2010, 6:01 PM
Where I live the police are decent. They usually come right away after you call them. But, I think it really depends where you live. In the town we used to live in, they weren't that great at all. They would come way late, or they'd pull over people who were maybe 5 mph over and not pull over the person going 15 mph over the speed limit. *shrug* So, I guess it depends.

February 13th, 2010, 6:40 PM
Wow, where I come from, bad is an understatement...

February 13th, 2010, 7:06 PM
Well, I guess the police are okay around here, but an annoying thing (that I'm sure happens in lots of places) is that they are never there when something really bad happens, but they are always there for small violations of the law. But at least they are not as bad as breaking the law them selves.

February 14th, 2010, 12:03 PM
Yes the police around here are stupid.

They arrested someone for something they didn't do. Now, there's a group of people in our village that break the law all the time. When asked about whether or not they did it, the police said "we don't bother with them anymore because we can't be bothered".

^that actually happened. I'm NOT joking.

The police will also not respond to calls about poaching unless they hear "gun". Poaching is against the law, and the police have to respond to calls by law, but they don't.

February 14th, 2010, 8:27 PM
The police here are perfectly fine...

Amazingly to me, I'm one of the only people here yet without a complaint.

February 14th, 2010, 9:17 PM
Never have a problem with police in my city, but there have been a lot of cases of police brutality here.

February 14th, 2010, 11:23 PM
I think police shouldn't devote so much resources to petty violations. They should focus on big things like homicide, narcotics, prostitution, rape, etc. and if they just so happen to come across someone speeding while working one these things they can still ticket them but wasting taxpayer dollars on such menial things seems like a waste of the money they take from my paychecks.

No, but they did push for a huge tax increase so that they could have SUVs that they didn't need.

I protested with my local green group, but they still passed it. (Didn't bother to let the people vote on it...)

Glad in my state we practice direct democracy. Any time taxes are to be increased the measure goes on the ballot. We can also recall elected officials we don't like.

The police where I live are actually pretty decent. Though can be annoying if you're at a friend's house who lives by one and they keep watching you. Reeeaally creepy.
