I'm not too worried about an upgraded Switch having too many exclusive games tbh, if only because Nintendo would be fools to split up the existing userbase and, as foolish as Nintendo are sometimes, they're not THAT stupid. I mean, the New 3DS had SNES titles and maybe three or four exclusives in the end? Granted, one of them was the best game ever made - Xenoblade - but still, that's not a lot. Sony and Microsoft didn't even have exclusive games for the Pro or the X.
I think we'd probably get better undocked visuals, more stable framerates (not that I would be able to tell, because I literally never notice framerate dips unless the game actually stops moving...) and better loading times from a Pro model in handheld mode, but as for actual games...well, I dunno. The thought that a hypothetical Switch Pro should be able to run Resi 7 and Assassins Creed Odyssey natively crosses my mind, so it'd hopefully be at least as powerful as a base model PS4? Honestly the only real use I can think of for it is for more recent and slightly better quality ports, because there is a general understanding that one does not buy Nintendo consoles for powerful hardware, and the Switch is capable of some pretty impressive feats already. DQXI is pretty damn impressive in handheld mode, and even if the PS4 version is significantly prettier, one does not measure a game's value by its visuals...not if one is playing a Nintendo console, anyway.
ngl a Switch Pro that had Odyssey as an exclusive game would be an insta buy for me because I would LOVE to play that handheld
I wonder how successful a docked-only Switch would be...probably not as successful. I know the polls suggest a pretty even split between docked, handheld, and 50/50, but the adverts are pushing the console's portability and that seems to be its main selling point. If it cost around the same as a Lite it might draw in a few people (and boost the sales of the regular Switch the way the Lite did, haha) but if it sacrificed that aspect for improved hardware and cost more as a result? Inevitable comparisons to the PS4/X1 would be made, and it would almost certainly be found lacking. Unless it had some exclusive games, which would split up the player base, and piss off everyone in general. If it didn't have the exclusives then the OG Switch would be seen as the better choice because it could play the games both at home and on the go. So yeah...I don't see it happening. The Lite only works because it's a small entry-level system for younger gamers and/or people with constricted budgets.
