I'm very bad at fighting games. I can never get the button combos correct. I more so enjoy watching my friends play it, they're actually good at playing them and executing moves.

Are you able to use a memory card across multiple Nintendo Switch consoles? I'm thinking about buying the somewhat cheapish lite-version just in case a pro version eventually comes out later down the line and it's worth upgrading to.

So I got my birthday money saved, and i'm getting a Switch with my mom on Sunday. I gave up with the Pokemon World Championships knowing London is a big ride next summer, plus i'm NOT good with Pokemon in general no matter what genre it is. So I have a list of games I want including Lets go Pikachu and later in the year Pokemon Sword for my boi SirFetched. I like Pokemon for Pokemon, not for rivalry xD

I believe so? You can also back things up onto the cloud so when you transfer devices you don't lose your saves and such iirc.

Before SwSh I'm going to at least be watching my sister play Luigi's Mansion 3, I believe. At least up until the release and then I can play SwSh whenever she's not playing LM3 hahah. I have such a backlog that isn't ever gonna dwindle at this rate.

I've decided against getting a Switch Lite, because I strongly suspect an upgraded version will come next year, and with the PS5 also coming out next year I really cannot afford to go splashing my money all over the place...I settled with buying a 400GB micro SD card and the Hori Split Pad Pro to make my current Switch more versatile...I now have enough space to store all my digital games and some more comfortable controllers that make the Switch feel much smaller whenever I put the joycons back on. xD

yeah im kinda curious about the upgraded Switch. :o i wonder if it's going to look any different than the regular Switch model or just look physically the same except with beefier internal specs.

I'd anticipate it having a better or at least equal to internal battery than the current upgraded Switch model, maybe a little more internal memory, and a better quality screen...I remember reading something about Nintendo ordering production of better quality screens that they didn't use for the Switch Lite, although I can't find the article that mentioned it thinking about it; I'll have to browse because I can't remember the specifics. Beyond that I'd expect it to be more or less the same...Nintendo seem determined to stick with Joycons even though the design for them is fundamentally flawed.

One thing I hope they don't do is have a "docked only" Switch as a pro model, because that would just be infuriating. The appeal of the thing is the handheld mode =/

Gosh a docked-only Switch Pro might as well be called something else. The only thing that makes it a Switch would be the games. I forgave them with the Switch Lite no longer being a console that "switches" between handheld and home console since they do have the same library, but I'd draw the line at the docked-only Switch Pro.

I do expect it to come someday, in the same way that the New Nintendo 3DS was released. I just hope the future games that become exclusive to it are worth the price of transferring to a brand new unit.

I'm not too worried about an upgraded Switch having too many exclusive games tbh, if only because Nintendo would be fools to split up the existing userbase and, as foolish as Nintendo are sometimes, they're not THAT stupid. I mean, the New 3DS had SNES titles and maybe three or four exclusives in the end? Granted, one of them was the best game ever made - Xenoblade - but still, that's not a lot. Sony and Microsoft didn't even have exclusive games for the Pro or the X.

I think we'd probably get better undocked visuals, more stable framerates (not that I would be able to tell, because I literally never notice framerate dips unless the game actually stops moving...) and better loading times from a Pro model in handheld mode, but as for actual games...well, I dunno. The thought that a hypothetical Switch Pro should be able to run Resi 7 and Assassins Creed Odyssey natively crosses my mind, so it'd hopefully be at least as powerful as a base model PS4? Honestly the only real use I can think of for it is for more recent and slightly better quality ports, because there is a general understanding that one does not buy Nintendo consoles for powerful hardware, and the Switch is capable of some pretty impressive feats already. DQXI is pretty damn impressive in handheld mode, and even if the PS4 version is significantly prettier, one does not measure a game's value by its visuals...not if one is playing a Nintendo console, anyway.

ngl a Switch Pro that had Odyssey as an exclusive game would be an insta buy for me because I would LOVE to play that handheld

I wonder how successful a docked-only Switch would be...probably not as successful. I know the polls suggest a pretty even split between docked, handheld, and 50/50, but the adverts are pushing the console's portability and that seems to be its main selling point. If it cost around the same as a Lite it might draw in a few people (and boost the sales of the regular Switch the way the Lite did, haha) but if it sacrificed that aspect for improved hardware and cost more as a result? Inevitable comparisons to the PS4/X1 would be made, and it would almost certainly be found lacking. Unless it had some exclusive games, which would split up the player base, and piss off everyone in general. If it didn't have the exclusives then the OG Switch would be seen as the better choice because it could play the games both at home and on the go. So yeah...I don't see it happening. The Lite only works because it's a small entry-level system for younger gamers and/or people with constricted budgets.

The Switch's power button is awful, frankly...it's tiny, somewhat difficult to push in, and it doesn't even turn the console off unless you hold it in for several seconds and THEN select the option to power off.

I miss the days when I could just turn my console on, put a game in, and play. No updates, no faffing about with unlocking screens, and no multi-step turn-off process. I question why the simple things have to get steadily more convoluted as technology is supposedly advancing.

...and yeah, I am REALLY bored this afternoon, to be complaining about something this inconsequential. xD

I completely agree with your sentiments re: the Switch Pro, Dawn.

Man I would love to build my own gaming PC one day. When I get the time and money for the best specs at that time, I will.

Meep. I got the Switch Lite now. It's so beautiful. But seriously, I just wanted a 3DS replacement. I will NEVER get rid of my 3DS and 2DS.
LGP is .... weird imo. Idk, it's just weird. I can't explain it.
The other game I got was CTR: Nitro Fueled. Fun fact about that game, it DOESN'T require you to use the joy-stick. You can use the D-pad! HURRAH!
Looking forward to Pokemon Sword in the future!

careful now, be grateful for what you have now lest nintendo, sony, or microsoft figure out a way to incorporate two factor authentication alongside a fingerprint scan every time you boot up your console

Depends on the game. I like a good retro game as much as the next guy, but the QoL improvements, graphics, and game feel of newer games is pretty great, too.

Most of my favorite games of all time are based on nostalgia though. So in those lists, retro wins for me.
