    It's for the DS right?
Maybe if they enhance the 3D so much more and we get crazy tall buildings with hovercrafts. :D

Actually, I read somewhere of a new Nintendo system with controls similar to an iPhone with more features, and that the Pokemon company recieved a prototype to play with. I'm betting that Gen 5 will be on this new system.

    YEEEEEESH WE NEED 3-D GRAPHICS!

It's weird, 5 years ago that would've seemed impossible on a Pokemon game XD.

I still want a Fire/Dragon Fighting/Dragon though....and 2 Pseudo Legendaries. Come on Tajiri, you can do it!

Actually, I want them to keep the birds-eye view. It just doesn't seem like Pokemon if its fully 3D. I wouldn't mind if its pseudo-3D like Sinnoh, but its been like this since 1996.

I feel the same way... and I really don't see them changing it... not for the handheld anyway. It's really functional and easy.

I imagine that we'll still be using the birds-eye view for a while. Even Colosseum and XD had it. While I would love to play a Pokemon game with a fully controllable camera, it would be pretty odd at first lol

someone who studies pokemon techniques would be pretty nice.
That would fit in with the idea of levelling up attacks (Bubble becomes Bubblebeam becomes Water Gun becomes Hydro Pump, etc.). Similar but separate moves can appear and branch off (like Shedinja does in evolution).

That's something I'd like to see. That, and a single PP meter that all moves use (i.e. mana) - stronger moves just use more mana.

On the topic of what the Proffesor will specialise in, I'm thinking that (s)he will study Pokemon levels, leveling, and types.
I'm thinking it might be this because if you remember in the Platinum guide book, there was a small blip about EV training which didn't really tell much. I'm betting that in the game the proffessor will tell you that they have discovered a new and improved way to train Pokemon (EV training). Throughout the game people will tell you about it and explain it. Also, in the guide I could see a new section just about EV trianing.
Types because it's about time that they come out with new times >>

What I would really like is a legendary Ghost trio. I honestly think that would kick ass, if not that than a Dark type trio. :P

To do this they would first have to stop hiding the EV system. They'd need to add a separate summary page or something, which I would really like.

No offense, but that's a...terrible reason to come out with new types.

That would fit in with the idea of levelling up attacks (Bubble becomes Bubblebeam becomes Water Gun becomes Hydro Pump, etc.). Similar but separate moves can appear and branch off (like Shedinja does in evolution).

As much as I like these ideas, especially since I've always thought of Water Gun->Hydro Pump this way. It's kind of ruining the beautiful simplicity that is Pokemon. And it takes away from the choice trainers have, no more 40 base attack level 100 tournaments. :(

I agree, I enjoy it how it is. That saying though, a completely 3D console game would be absolute love<3. But hey, whatever GameFreak comes out with I'll probably go along with. Well handheld at least, I haven't played a console game since good ol' Stadium 2. :P

didn't Gen 2 have pokemon Breeding because that's what the professor specialized in?

Um what? There's many possibilities as to where the Pokemon Breeding came from. It helped the show's plot, it furthered the gameplay and helped introduce IV's which finally gave a way to sepperate pokemon of the same species. And in truth, breeding exists in real life so why shouldn't it exist in a game that deals with living creatures? They kept it PG and it works. You're comparing Apples and Oranges.

And either way saying "It's about time," is never a good argument, you have to explain why. If going into Gold and Silver someone stated that new types are needed because "it's about time," than I would have shot it down too. If you said new types are needed to balance out the overdominant Psychic (and to a lesser extent Ghost) type I would have agreed. That's why I support a change in the type system only if it helps Poison become more effective and Steel become slightly less effective defensively.

To help with the whole unbalanced type thingy of a topic... it currently is unbalance but only the meta-game. A new type doesn't HAVE to be introduced (though I'd love it) because it could be improved with better type combinations, more Poison moves, less Psychic types and less bulky Steel types. There are a few other typing issues but it can easily be fixed in the next generation without a new type being introduced.

As much as it is true that it's a metagame thing, past bulky steels will still dominate the new poison moves. I don't really want a new type but I don't see this fully solving the problem. Though in reality it's not really that big of a problem. Decreasing Steel types in the metagame could just be a matter of introducing better Dragon killers in the next generation. Poison just needs some kind of love...somehow...

You're right, new type combinations are probably the key but I don't see them really using their Poison STAB unless more Grass types are introduced...which will cause more Fire...which will cause less Steels but even more Bulky Waters...endless cycle. :P

I agree with Haza, I dont think its crucial to have a new typing if its unbalanced, if it could easily BECOME balanced with the introduction of new Pokemon. Saaaay, you add in a Steel-Ice type with Flash Fire (terrible example, whatever), Dragons would have to work around it, balancing it out.

I never said it was crucial. Just if it made sense in a Dark/Steel kind of way. I agree it's not needed and I don't want one, but if it made complete sense it could be revolutionary quick fix. But new pokemon play the biggest role overall obviously, I just can't see Poison ever seeing any love unless it gains some sort of advantage...my previous post outlines the best example I can think of.

Well it seems Nintendo has decided that what Poison can't make up in Strength, it makes it up in numbers. And it IS a good defensive typing, shall we look at Janine from HGSS? She has 5 Poison type Pokemon, and ALL of them are either neutral or immune to Ground, Poisons principal and main weakness. They can work around being offensively weak and work! Nidoking isnt maybe the best example, but it works by having a good stat dispersion and insanely diverse movepool. I would like to see it get a boost, I mean super effective on Water maybe??? But I dont think its necessary to balance the game, but it would be a welcome change.
