  • Makes sense, I was hoping otherwise so I could make a super egg move breeder with all moves known to it ... would've been amazing.

    Thanks for the help.

So I'm just asking because whenever something like a Snivy with Contrary gets given out, or even the Wal Mart exclusive Garchomp or whatever (that has nothing special about it) there's posts all over the boards here talking about them, however in Japan they've already given out Darkrai, Jirachi, Shaymin, Keldeo and Victini and I never heard one peep about them on the boards here so did everyone else here already know about these giveaways or (hopefully!) am I not alone in that other people didn't know about them either? http://www.serebii.net/events/2014.shtml

And having said that, since nobody actually KNOWS for sure, has anyone heard RUMOURS of if any of these event legendaries are going to be given out in North America in the coming year? If the stupid Japanese characters would just change to English I would trade for the current Japanese versions, but since I can't, I want English versions, lol!

    Hey guys!

I just had a couple of questions.
I understand that if I want to capture the legendary birds (ice, fire, thunder) will only depend on the starter Pokemon I choose correct? Also at the end of the game I get to choose between the first generation starter Pokemons like charmander, bulbasaur and squirtle.

So assuming I understood perfectly this is what I was planning to do and you guys comment on how feasible it actually is.
So first I will choose a female character so all my starters would be female including the first gen starters. This will allow me to breed other starters because the starter is female and hence a mother. When I am satisfied and captured the legendaries I will send all of these Pokemon to the Bank, transfer them from the bank to my Alpha Sapphire game and then delete all my progress with XY and start over again with a different starter (this way I can get all 3 starter types and the 3 legendary birds).
So in conclusion I will transfer all 3 birds and female starter Pokemon from the first generation (bulbasaur, squirtle and Charmander) to my main game alpha sapphire for breeding future starters and etc.
Is such a plan feasible? Also what are the Online Bank rules? How long do I have to pay the monthly fee? Can I just pay for it once, do the transfer to ORAS, then stop paying until I am ready to do the second transfer on my second play-through (rinse and repeat for the third and final time)?
What happens to the Pokemon I transfered to the game when the Online Bank's subscription is stopped? Do they automatically get frozen/deleted too or do they stay where they are?

Also my final question; is there an XY game that includes both versions in one game or are they always 2 separate entities?

    Thanks for your time.

    Thanks for your time.

Hopefully I get all your questions!

First off, no, you don't get the gen 1 starters at the end of the game, you actually get them, maybe 3 towns in? (I can't remember offhand) basically the first large city you come across you get them.

Yes, the bird trio does depend just on the first starter you choose (Froakie, Chespin or Fennekin. the Gen 1 starters have no bearing on legendaries that appear later in game)

Choosing your character to be male or female has no bearing on the starter being male or female. They ALWAys have a 12.5% chance of being female no matter what you do. Having said that, just save right before you choose a starter (save every few minutes, really, just so you don't go too far) and then just keep resetting until you get a female. You COULD very much do your plan of getting one of each, sending them via poke bank to ORAS (or just keep them in Bank, it doesn't matter which) and then start your game over again, however, with the online connectivity you really don't need to do that. Well, for the birds you absolutely do, but for the rest, not at all. If you get a female froakie, breed some more froakies, then post them on the Global Trading STation (it's an in game trading system that connects to the internet) and ask for Chespin and then ask for Fennekin and within a very short time someone will gladly oblige and then you'll have all gen 6 starters right away. Then when you get a female Squirtle (for example) breed more and then post them asking for Charmander and Bulbasaur. Then you have all gen 1 and 6 starters in one game! (I only used these for examples, you can literally trade anything for anything, you'll just have more luck and faster luck trading for things of equal value such as starters for starters, fossils for fossils, version exclusive for version exclusive, etc)

for the bank you can't stop paying, you pay a once a year fee of $5 (again, for the entire YEAR) then you have 365 days to do whatever you want with it. You're strongly encouraged to keep as many pokemon in there as possible though because the more pokemon that are in your bank and the longer you keep them in there the more poke miles/battle points you get that you can then exchange in game for items.

I'm not sure what happens when the poke bank subscription expires (keep in mind, it's not a monthly things, it's $5 for a YEAR of service) but from what I read your poke bank account does get frozen (no access to your pokemon) but I believe you are given X number of days to pay for a new subscription but if you don't do it in that number of days your pokemon will get deleted.

And no, there is no X and Y game that has both versions, they're always two separate games HOWEVER depending on what country you're in some stores were selling both games in one package.

    Hope that helps!

Wow thanks for the answers mate, just one last question.
When I am transferring pokemons to the bank does the game save itself?
Also is it possible to perhaps clone (I have heard of this process) one of my legendary birds and a female starter and trade them for other legendaries and female starters respectively?
Do clones lose their value or are they against the rules?

For example if you want 4 deoxys why not get one and clone it 3 more times for all four transformations?

yep it does save itself, to be more precise, poke bank accesses your game's save file on the lower screen, Pokebank on the upper screen, all the data is held locally, you swap whatever you need between bank and game, then when you save (you can choose to save or not, but if you don't save, nothing gets changed either) all the data changes are sent back to the game and bank simultaneously.

Theres not really any point in cloning a starter since breeding is so easy (not the mention when you breed sometimes you can very rarely end up with a shiny and shinies can literally be traded for ANYTHING on the GTS! And I'm not even exaggerating! I traded a shiny scatter bug for a Zapdos!) You could clone, I'm not entirely sure how it's done, one way involved posting impossible trades on the GTS ((which is why you'll see impossible trades on the GTS still) but clones don't necessarily lose their value because they are, by definition, clones, Identical to the original in every way. They kinda are against the rules because you have to cheat in order to duplicate pokemon (since you're not actually meant to clone pokemon) but they are just duplicates of pokemon that exist so it's not anything like hacking the game or anything. (Unless you were talking about them being against the rules of the forums here, in which case that's a topic I can't answer)

So while yes, you COULD theoretically clone Deoxys, keep in mind that if you're going through the game multiple times to get the legendary birds you will also be getting multiples of the other legendaries as well and a lot of people only have Alpha Sapphire or Omega Ruby, not X or Y, so you can always keep the extra legendaries you catch on your multiple playthroughs and then trade them for extra Deoxys (because really, considering how wildly their stats range from each other, you would be better off having 4 Deoxys with 4 different natures)

I have two questions that hopefully someone can answer. ^^

For 1, Mewtwo is shiny-locked, right? I ask 'cause I received a shiny Mewtwo from Wonder Trade, complete with a blue pentagon and caught in that whatsthename cave. :/

2, I think I'm getting PokéBank soon. I can only deposit/withdraw my PKMN in Box 1 to/from the bank, right?

When did Pokemon games STOP having a second backup file? (waits for the posts from people who ONLY read this line, ignore everything else in the post and say "Pokemon games only ever have 1 save file" ;-) )

So I'm speaking from experience when I say that gen 3 games had a backup save file. I know this for an absolute fact because one time I was saving right when my battery was running low and the gameboy advance died right in mid save. Ofcourse when I started the game up again, it told me that my save file had become corrupted so my previous save file will be loaded and then the save I made before the corrupted save loaded, which was not only fantastic, but also made a ton of sense for a handheld game.

However, as of late, I notice people here and there complain about the current gen game's files corrupting every so often, so when did game freak STOP having their games make backup save files of your previous save? This seems to be an incredibly smart idea, because anyone would rather lose the last few minutes - couple hours of work int heir game instead of the entire game, so why doesn't Gamefreak keep doing this and what generation did they stop?

I think gen 3 is the only gen to do it, I don't recall Platinum did it when my save corrupted on it. I agree it sucks that they removed it and they should have kept it.

I'm trying to find my tsv and SVs of my pokemon eggs and i found something called KeySAV. I don't want to use powersave though. do i need powersave to work KeySAV? (i have a cartrige. not digital) can't i just like put a SD card in my computer?

It won't work with just the SD card because that's not where the save is, the save is in the cartridge.
The only way KeySAV will work with the SD Card is if the game is digital.

So in short, since you have a physical copy, you do need a Powersave.

Well, bulbapedia says the ENG one SHOULD have the wishing ribbon (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/w...h_event_Pokémon_distributions_in_Generation_V ) (according to your list after "And Bulba says this:" ) so are all your Keldeos English? Cause the list of events on Bulbapedia (admittedly just the English distribution) says the one given out January 25 2013 - Feb of the same year should in fact have the Wishing Ribbon, so give us more details about your Keldeos, when were they given out (usually the trainer ID is the year they were given out, but not always) and tell us if they were english or not and original trainer ID and all that.

I have 8 that are SMR2012 with wishing ribbon, 2 Jap. ID 06232 and 12192 with the wishing ribbon, 6 WIN2013with the ribbon, HVR2013, INV2013 all of them have the same ribbon.

  • I have pokemon x, and am about to purchase y from the eshop. But before I do, I want to make sure I can use pokebank to transfer pokemon from cartridges to eshop purchased games. This is possible, correct?

    Thanks,
