Tennis will be dwarfed by NFL in coming weeks so enjoy it while it lasts. I ignore Tennis because I can't stand the grunting and anyone who grunts(which is prevalent in Tennis) are cheaters in my book(and that includes the William's sisters).
Here's a rundown of NFL as I see it:
NFC West: Champion will be whomever can protect their QB the best because frankly this Division SUCKS. All 4 teams have average at best Offensive Lines with just two teams arguably having a dependable Running Back to take the load off of their QB. Seattle will struggle this year(Russel Wilson will be running for his life). Rams are still in rebuild mode. Niners just flat out suck and Cardinals are Jeckyll and Hyde(you don't know what team you're going to get from week to week). Whomever comes out on top in this Division will likely have 8 or 9 wins.
NFC South: Atlanta has a lot of returning pieces but people forget that Matt Ryan, on average, is a better version of Andy Dalton. You take out Ryan's rookie year and his MVP season last year and you pretty much get what Andy Dalton puts up on a yearly basis with a similar offensive cast. Saints still suck defensively(Dennis Allen has his hands full) with an average at best OLine. Carolina has no secondary, although their front 7 isn't bad. Their success is predicated on Newton not turning the ball over and their OLine not being a sieve(which as far as I can tell hasn't changed from last year). Tampa Bay is a dark horse team that if Winston can start turning it on, watch out. My only reservation on picking TB to win the Division is their Defense. Considering this Division has a reputation of not having a repeat winner, I'm going to go with my gut and pick TB to win it with a 10-6 record.
NFC North: This division reminds me of the AFC East. Packers by default. Bears stink, Lions are an enigma and the Vikings have no Offense to be scared of. Only reason I'm not fond of Packers going far in the playoffs is because their Defense sucks.
NFC East: Strongest Division in the Conference. Three teams are arguably playoff contenders and its quite possible both wild cards come out of this Division. Elliot being suspended shouldn't hurt the Cowboys too much if McFadden and Morris can replicate receiving the ball because that OLine is still intact. In fact I'd be more concerned with Tyron Smith and their absence of a Defense than Elliot. Eagles offensively look pretty good so far but damn does their Defense need a kick in the rear after giving up points to Jay Cutler and the Dolphins. Giants OLine just flat out sucks and Eli Manning might finally buckle under the immense pressure he has going into this season. Whether or not the Giants Defense can carry them remains to be seen. Redskins are going into this season with house money because no one expects them to do anything and they won't. If Jim Schwartz can straighten out the Eagles Defense, I would not be shocked if Eagles win this Division with a 10-6 record.
AFC West: Chargers are my pick to win it this year. Veteran QB with a solid RB, ample depth at WR and an upcoming TE that aims to replace the aging but still viable Gates. Their Defense is also up and coming with a DLine that can scare the crap out of opposing Offenses. Chiefs will put up a good fight but there is something about Alex Smith that just doesn't feel right. I'm also not sold on their Running game and with a lack of passing weapons, they don't scare me on the Offensive side of the ball and hence take a step back this season. Raiders were freaking lucky last year folks so I can't fathom why people are betting on them to win the Super Bowl. Their Defense still sucks and that's despite having DPOY in Mack on it. Don't be surprised if they go from 12-4 to 6-10. Broncos don't have a QB, RB or a decent OLine so expect them to have Offensive issues as well(their Defense is still Elite though).
AFC South: This Division is Misty's Psyduck(seriously lol). Indianapolis is an abject mess on both sides of the ball and with their Center out for 8 weeks, Luck might be better off not playing. If that is the case, 2011 result might be in the cards. Jacksonville is an ugly affair right now. Blake Bortles basically got benched for Chad Henne and their Defense still has holes to fill so another lackluster year is on the horizon. Texans are Elite on Defense but the gaping hole left by Vince Wolfork is a big question entering the season. Offensively, I think they'd be better off throwing Watson into the fire now and living with the results. With uncertainty on Offense I can't see them winning this Division, hence Tennessee wins this Division simply by default, although their Defense still leaves much to be desired.
AFC North: Pretty much Pittsburgh by default. Baltimore defensively has rebuilt nicely but still gives up points in bunches. Offensively, they will struggle if Flacco can't go(and odds are he won't be for at least one or two games) but outside of Baltimore, I don't see another team challenging Pittsburgh for the Division title. Cincinnati has basically been the Cardinals of the AFC or Jeckyll and Hyde. One week they're great, another week they're WTF Bad and at some point you have to say to Marvin Lewis Trump's signature phrase: "You're fired". Cleveland is rebuilding so its pretty much Pittsburgh's Division to take.
AFC East: NE by default as Buffalo has raised the white flag, Dolphins lost their QB(we shall see if Cutler can return to a watchable form) and Jets are likely to go 0-16. Don't be surprised if NE cruises to another AFC Championship and 6th Super Bowl title under Brady.
