  • Did you take lessons in writing or is everything self-taught?

    Do you think the same about the Mother series? I mean Undertale is inspired by those games, so even the graphics somewhat got their origins from that series.

    It would be fine if the FF6 remake got the same graphics the PSP version of FF4 had. I don't really need a third dimension unless it offers some fun gameplay as well.

    Do you like to talk to NPCs to get some more information about the world the game plays in?
    Even those people who think they know what they're doing often times just produce mediocre results. And by mediocre I mean that they are still worse than the main series games. Though, you don't neccessarily need professionals, as long as the people you find are actually serious about what they do. I've seen people who went from studying computer science right into creating their own game company and it worked out for them.

    I can only think of Undertale and CrossCode right now. The first one you might wanna wait a little bit until the cult around it has calmed down a little bit and the second one is still not finished. Then again, the term jRPG doesn't neccessarily apply on Indie games as much, because those people like to try new things; straying from standard formulas so to speak.

    I'm still waiting for a FF6 remake that doesn't look like someone threw it into a washing machine, to be honest. Outside of that, I think they try too hard to make their games appeal to western players, completely ignoring the fact that they actually want some solid "japanese" RPGs to play.
    Well, it's your dream after all and not the one of the others. As a result, it should end up the way you want it to be. Though, if you look for people, don't do that here on PC, because the people in the ROM Hacking and Game Development sections don't even have a clue what they're doing. {XD}

    Afaik, in Japan there isn't even an Indie scene; it's more of a western thing. Also since they don't have a lot of money to create games, most of them are pretty minimalistic and focus mostly on the gameplay aspect and not the story. As a result its absolutely understandable if you don't know much about them. :)

    What do you think about Square Enix as they are right now? Are they still as good, or better, at making games as they were in the past?
    Me and my wording skills...just nevermind. {XD}

    You actually don't need any game design skills. All you need are a couple other people who can do all the things that you can't and then you can create a game that way.

    Imo Xenogears is one of those games that need a remake. One where they uncompress the second half of the game as well. Though, since Square has the right to the game and the fact, that they put more effort into creating remakes of games that have "Final Fantasy" in the title, it doesn't seem likely to me. There's still the possibility, if we get a remkae, that it ends up as some sort of episodic more action oriented game, kinda like the FF7 remake. Also funfact: Xenogears was a candidate to become FF7, but it ended up being its own title and we got the FF7 that we all know today.

    It's alright, I like talking with people about their stuff; makes me think less about my daily life. {XD}

    It's the nameless protagonist of an Indie game called "Castle In The Darkness". It's a metroidvania sidescroller in a retro style that came out about a year ago.
    As long as you appreciate it yourself, others don't really matter. If they want something from someone thinking, they might as well start thinking themselves. The sad truth is, that a lot of people don't, even though they could <_<

    That sounds like a Visual Novel. Then again, if you want to make it like a video, maybe not.

    Never played Xenogears or Xenosaga, but I've watched some videos on the games. From what I've seen Xenogears looks pretty great, just sad that they needed to compress the second part of the game due to them running out of time. That seems to be a curse to the "franchise" in general. Xenosaga was cancelled right in the middle of the story and even Xenoblade had one area removed from the final version. Not sure about X, though, since it's still a pretty new game.
    Seems like you two fit well together. :)

    Understanding yourself is still pretty important, because it not only allows you to figure out, what needs in the world you have, but it can also help you on imagining how other people act. I can see that as being pretty important, because it gives you an idea how to design people for your stories.

    When done correctly, such a world definitely allows for a pretty unique experience. I know that games and novels aren't really comparable, because of the first one adding a focus towards interactivity, whereas the latter is more about projecting pictures into people's heads, but I liked playing Radiant Historia, which is more of a fantasy game with some technology put into the mix, and Xenoblade Chronicles, which is more about science fiction, but with some magic added.
    Well, your boyfriend/husband of course. :P

    I wouldn't call it pretentious. After all the term philosopher translates into "friend of wisdom" and there's nothing wrong with reflecting about your life in order to gain more knowledge.

    Yeah, focusing on the main story is obviously the way to go and after you're done, if there are still unanswered questions you can still create some sidestories afterwards. What genre are you going for? Fantasy, science fiction, or something else?
    That's what the signs are for. You get them for better communication with your respective other and they also provide a little bit of encouragement in case he doesn't feel like buying one. :P

    Sounds a little bit like a live biography. Or is it more about philosophy?

    World-building sounds like you're planning more than one story.I mean considering that you basically have to come up with a ton of lore past events that all fit together and make the present how it is, it sure makes for a hugh amount of potential. I also seems like a respectable amount of work that needs to be done.
    Well, you still have options to express yourself in a different way irl. Just buy a couple signs, take a pen with you and whenever you find yourself in a conversation, just write it onto the sign and show it to the others. Or, you know, rent a blimp and whenever someone asks you something, inform the pilot by text and then point upward to signalize your conversation partner to look up. :P

    What kind of stuff are you writing in particular?
    Getting such a feeling of abandonment sure is terrible. Even worse if they reappear a long time later and either pretend nothing happened, or even worse, ignore you for some reason. Well, to be fair, it never happened to me, but I'm not that great at making friends anyway.

    You are a writer, aren't you? I can imagine writing a thought-out post being second nature to you.
    I know what you're talking about. It can take forever just to find someone who you resonate well and even longer until you could even use the word friend. But even after all the time, you could still end up in a situation where just one slipup breaks all of it into pieces, putting you back right at the beginning.
    On another note I've actually seen people who could just "walk into a room and automatically become friends with all of the people inside", but I've never understood how they even do that. Makes me sometimes wonder how much appreciation some people have in regards to friendship. <_<

    Length doesn't really matter too much to me, as long as the writer knows what they're talking about. Of course I wouldn't want to read an essay stretching over multiple thousands of words just explainging why someone likes a certain Pokemon, because I still have other things to do. But you don't do that anyway. :)
    That's pretty straightforward. Lot's of people here tend to give some dodgy answers on that, especially those who complain about not having any friends.

    I kinda expected that you would give a different answer than them, especially since you seem to put a lot of thought in your posts.
    To the point response. =p Neat though, I enjoyed the game when I played it sometime last year.
