I believe Ash was trying to philosophate about leaving friends behind and their bonds will grow stronger by that, but he somewhat failed at that attempt.

Arh, Gary did have a cameo in the first movie where we saw his back when his Pokémon got owned by Mewtwo. But yeah, I would also like to see him in a movie - The movies have much better details on the character's design. But if Gary has to, then Drew should as well - I'd love to see those two...

I'll say that I prefer the Japanese cries over the dubbed as they sound more like animals there.

Misty is working with the Cerulean Gym. She wanted to be a Water Pokémon Master, now she gets to run a Gym entirely for Water Pokémon. She pretty much got the respective spot that suits her - So it's pretty much unlikely she'll ever return to the team to stay.
