I'll consider forgiving you, maybe.
I was in a plethora of those groups but at the point where I would never show my animals, not because they were being mistreated just because it was no one else's business other than my own but I suppose that is with the majority of aspects of my life. I would ask a question here and there, casually, to see other points of views and leave it at that. I believe the only herpers that I kept in contact with were the breeders I had purchased from; most won't say so but I do realise that they enjoy seeing how their projects turned out.
That sounds quite awful, the severity of your fear. I am glad as well as impressed that you were able to overcome such a mental obstacle. I never had that type of fear towards any animal aside from a Great White Shark, and more specifically the shark from Jaws. Actually, the biggest fear I have now and I know that I will never overcome is animatronics. I believe that is the closest that I can relate to you; I have fainted from something Five Night's at Freddy's related and I will scream like a little girl if I see Freddy, and I full blown tear up as well.
I hope that you can secure your dream herps one day, as they truly are such fascinating creatures. Though, I think for me personally my favourite part about these animals is that if i were to suddenly not be, they wouldn't be heartbroken about it like a dog might be. Their lack of emotional attachment is ideal for me, so I couldn't imagine a better fit as far as pets go.
That is such a kind statement; I appreciate that sentiment and I hope so. Wolf Spiders still frighten me, I won't touch one willingly, but I won't ever harm one again if I can help it.
