Pokemon has always seemed like an eternal, undying behemoth to me. I hope the success doesn't lull the developers into a state of perpetual template-recycling, though; there's so much that could be done with the series. (quantitative intraspecific graphical variation!!)
Douglas Adams, Richard Feynman and Richard Dawkins are probably the real humans that I respect the most. Unfortunately the former two died some time ago, but I will hopefully have a chance to meet Dawkins at the upcoming Global Atheist Convention being held in Melbourne early next year.
I tend to only be interested in befriending people who are significantly superior to me in at least one respect, so it's no surprise that I'm constantly envious of the people around me. My ex-boyfriend is the prime example, being a genius polyglot with regard to the languages of both humans and...
Pokémon 'evolution' corresponds to the loose, general sense of the word, not the modern scientific usage. It's essentially just a speedy metamorphosis.
I routinely sleep at absurd times-- sometimes I'll go to bed at 7am in the morning for no good reason and not wake up for the next 16 hours, or stay awake for 48 hours after half a night's sleep. It actually really messes up my life sometimes (I have major difficulties controlling or even...
I usually run with whatever gender my best hatchling happens to have... I had difficulty thinking of my Breloom and Flygon as female at first, but now I have trouble with the reverse proposition!
How are you defining 'pointless'? What exactly is the 'point' of any Pokémon? How and by who is the 'concept of legendaries' defined and how can it be 'ruined'? You seem to be making an awful lot of absurd assumptions here.
I will agree with you on some points, however:
1. The redundant typing...
I didn't really have much of an opinion on Shaymin until I saw the movie, where it is just hilariously adorable. I don't understand why it is an event legendary though ... going by design/backstory, it really looks like it should just be another normal Grass-type.
I'm quite heavily sociophobic and for the most part try to keep away from people as much as possible. However, there are a few individuals whose opinions I care a lot about, and I do strive to earn their acknowledgement and respect (...albeit not with great success).
Just traded everyone over from Platinum and swept Red with my trusty L100 Gardevoir, which was actually surprisingly difficult. Party received shiny ribbons for it! Going after the legendaries now; currently attempting to capture a good Modest Articuno down in Seafoam Islands by soft-resetting...
I'll readily admit that IQ isn't exactly an ideal representation of intelligence, but it is one of the best we have. What alternative quantitative system are you proposing? The same effect is observed with other means of measurement-- and not just from crappy governmental surveys or whatever...
The plant examples are all about hybridisation mainly because it has been shown to be a major force of change throughout that kingdom's evolutionary history. Plants are much more tolerant of large-scale genomic changes than other organisms, but said changes frequently lead to mating...
Some Pokémon just can't be bred, but Ditto certainly works with genderless pokes in general-- I've had no problems breeding Porygon or Magnemite. Also Latios and Latias technically do have genders (one is set male and the other female).
