The book takes place 25 years after the events of Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope. The events of this book are about the start of the Yuuzhan Vong War. That is a war that started with invaders from outside the Star Wars galaxy.

When I noticed that you have read one of the books by R.A. Salvatore, I remembered that I also read one of the books written by him as well. The book by him that I have read is Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime. It is one of the books in the old Star Wars Expanded Universe. I don't like calling the old Star Wars Expanded Universe as Legends.
