I was pretty damn happy about it too, to be frank. I never thought it'd come at the cost of letting those chapters stay unadapted. :/ Only after actually going through forum posts from people following the manga faithfully did I actually come to that realization. And, apparently, there are quite a few downright hilarious ones that will get shafted due to this and that breaks my heart. :(
As for the dubbing of the movie...yeeaaah, haven't seen it. Neither do I plan to. Because I just cannot imagine a series like Gintama what with its bazillion references in every damn episode working out well in the dub format. And I'm so used to Sugita's japanese voice that I can't even imagine any other voice as Gintoki's haha. :p Plus, you don't seem very enthusiastic about it either, so that's that too...
I just hope the sales pick up. Seriously, this show deserves a good amount of them - moreso than a lot of other shows that lack substance (call me judgmental, I don't care). The main reason they're doing this in the first place is for the sales to pick up I guess, so hopefully they will. And they'll pull off a mid-season Bleach parody or something. Like, something serious is going on and they just burst the fourth wall and announce that they can't handle the budget for doing 3 serious arcs back-to-back together and are hence gonna revert back to comedy for a while - adapting the remaining comedy arcs in the process - and then continue with the serious stuff.
That would, technically, work for Gintama since the series is full of meta jokes and it won't seem out-of-place at all but..well, it would absolutely **** up the serious arcs' tension. The upcoming arcs actually carry a solid amount of weight behind them - some things in the arc are literally irreversible even if it is happening in a show like Gintama. For them to forego that and push in comedy arcs in between would severely hamper the mood that the serious arcs would take so much pains to set up.
All in all, dilemma. No idea how they're gonna go with this. Best case - they adapt the serious arcs in anime and then adapt the unadapted comedy arcs as seperate OVAs later on or something. That'd be okay, tbh. Actually, scratch that, that's the only way I see things working out ideally. :(
And I know, man, I know. I try but I usually fail. No idea why. ;____;
