Oh, so it's not quite year-round. But it's definitely more than our typical American school years last (roughly 180 total classroom days, from August/September to May/June). Though some American schools do have "year-round" schooling to try to minimize the time spent reviewing and reinforcing what was learned the previous school year.

Seems 14/15/16 is a pretty standard starting age these days (hopefully because countries are actually following the UN's anti-child labor mandates).
