  • Thanks for your help in the Beginner's Lounge!
While it wasn't necessarily what I was looking for, it is very helpful~
So for your Christmas Patch thing, you said you need to name the rival, I remember I talked about that with Darkrai Lvl. 1000 and he had a routine for it (here is it):

You'll have too look through his asm to find the place to where you name the rival, but it should be there & I don't think it was too hard to implement (I did this forever ago, so I don't fully remember, but I hope this helps out a bit).
Progress on Artificial Red of course, which is way better than the 870 patch ;)
    Congrats!
Just try to pace yourself. I've burned out on a few for-fun hacks and then never came back to them.
No official hacks no, but I do practice or test out ideas or things I see in the R&D section occasionally.
    Or sprite. That's fun too.
    Awww! Thank you, Uncommon!
You've contributed a fair amount to the community too, like your HM Hack.
    I've been reaaaally meaning to get back to the hack-a-long thing, and I'm trying to get the motivation for it ;;
    And thanks!
Ah, I worked out what I did wrong.

You can either reassemble all the routines, or simply change the instances of 04 32 00 00 in the routines to instead be 90 32 00 00; this is what happens when I don't update my routines when I update my ROM, haha.

I also tested in a vanilla ROM, and it turns out for blue in vanilla you'll need to put 00 07 0A 00 at bluefont.

I've updated the original post so you can just follow it from scratch if this is confusing.
Unfortunately no. There is a problem that doesn't let you set wild Pokemon via any map editor. It's not a bug, rather it's the outdatedness and lack of better map editors.
    You're welcome!

If other people didn't release their code, my hacking life would be far harder, so I see it more as giving back to the community!

Hopefully it also just encourages other people to make their code open source too.

There's no real reason not to, after all.
Hey thanks, I'm glad you liked them :). I only insert the basic tiles one would need to map out the entire region (trees, grass, dirt paths, pokecenter, pokemart, etc) so whoever uses the tilebase could insert the secondary tiles to their own liking (houses for certain cities and all that). There might be some that don't like some of the tiles I insert so I try to insert only the basic stuff so they can choose what to insert and not be forced to use what I have inserted. Anyways I'm glad you liked them. I have one more that I'm making (my last one and probably my best one tbh). I haven't inserted anything yet but I'm editing a lot of tiles and so far they are looking pretty good.
That is great news. Messing around with the intro stuff really stinks, but I am glad you figured it out. Ill let you know once I get around to it, until then good luck on your game.
Yeah, I did eventually find out what I did wrong. It had to do with the offset. Its been a while since I have messed with any of it though. Im on a vacation right now, but I could help you in about a week. Try messing around with the ape offsets. That is usually what the problem is.
