  • It's easy to find something to complain about at times, but the series is also very important to many of us and many of us probably like a lot about it.

So..say something positive about the series, that makes you like it. :)

  • Despite the numerous problems the last few gens have had; one thing I'll give GF credit for is that they haven't lost their touch when it comes to creating compelling new Pokemon. Gen 8 and especially Gen 9 really knocked it out of the park with new Pokemon like Hatterene, Skeledirge, Dragapult, Bellibolt and Houndstone. I also really liked the short animations of moments from each gen (eg: Gen 4's focusing on Barry becoming strong enough to beat his dad in battle). It's nice seeing GF give a little love to the older games every so often.

  • The focus in the more modern games on improving QoL features is great imo, such as box access from everywhere.
I also like that they have been making breeding more accessible, given us mints to freely change our mons natures and given us experience candy to make grinding up mons easier and faster than ever.

  • EV training in Gen 6. Finally I can decide what EVs my pokemon have instead of having to endlessly earn 1-3 EV points per battle. Also I like the EXP. share working for your whole party. Grinding isn't bad, but if I don't have access to the VS. Seeker then I'll accept this change.

Offers good replayability reliably. Differentiated the Pokemon enough to make it interesting, not to mention the differences between two Pokemon of the same species. Also gives the player enough rope to change how to play.

  • - I don't care about bad graphics or glitches. If a Pokemon game is playable and functionable, I'll enjoy it.

    - The teal mask DLC was excellent.

    - A bad generation does not exist.

  • ^Totally feel you! They are still great at making awesome designs I can get attached to, even now after making 800+ Pokémon already. I love it.

I love how they still hold Pokémon TCG art competitions. Just remembered this recently after one of the people I follow on Twitter chatted about it. The prizes are great too, like $5,000 USD for #1, and the top two get their artwork made into a card!! One of these days I'll enter. T_T

I like how the series offers something for everybody. Either that simply be playing the story, shiny hunting, playing competitively, trying to collect everything. There is no 'right' way to go about it.

    • The idea of an RPG with SO MANY OPTIONS for characters you wanna use and teambuilding options means it's the kind of thing you can replay for years and still have unique experiences, I love using Pokemon I've never tried when I replay the games. Even as a fan for over 10 years I still have reason to go back and play every generation.
    • On that topic, there's so many Pokemon that each one of them could be someone's favourite, and that everyone has at least some idea of a favourite Pokemon. They're given a lot of personality and character through stuff like Pokedex entries so they aren't just something cool to look at, you also get a good idea of their personality.
    • It's simple enough for children to pick it up and the variety of cute or cool Pokemon make it instantly appealing for them. The social aspects of the games like battling and trading give people reason to connect over a thing they like and I'm sure thousands of friendships have formed over it. Additions like the GTS, online battling, and worldwide release dates with multiple languages supported are just steps that were inevitable and allow people to connect and lives to be enriched.
    • The games are never too heavy or too dark, and the characters are often uplifting. If a character is major enough to have their own arc and grow through the story I want to cheer them on, and it helps that they're often very cute or endearing. Like Lillie. 🤍
    • I just think it's really cool how well-known Pokemon is, if I tell someone "I like Pokemon" the response is never "Huh, what is that, I've never heard of it", no matter who it is nearly everyone has at least a vague understanding of what it is and has heard of it.
