That makes it sound like they do still have a different kind of relationship, even if they don't come out and say it. Japanese people don't really "come out" as gay, love just happens and they deal with it in a more meek sort of way, because of how their culture is over there. It's not as extreme as America is. If Reina and Kumiko had feelings for each other and their friends picked up on it, they probably would not approach them about it, or announce it. ~o~ Loophole for a lot of series that do "queerbait".
