Name: Timereaux Nigel Thaumatoff, introduces himself as Tim.
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Hometown: Driftveil City
Physical Appearance: Tim is a slender character with a bony chest and wiry muscles along long limbs. Standing to a height of some 6'4", his stooped shoulders and slouched posture make him seem like a sagging scarecrow. He owns only two changes of clothes and tends to smell of pond scum since he tends to wash in the wilderness. Both his shirts are nearly threadbare and in several stained colors, and both his pairs of pants are heavy and dark, though beginning to tatter at the ends. He holds his heavy pants to his thin waist with a single rope belt. He tends to hide the sorry state of his wardrobe under a dark poncho. He can also be picked out of a crowd for his worn hiking boots and nearly-opaque sunglasses, which he is loathe to be seen without. If not for his bizarre outfit, Tim's dull brown eyes and ratty greying hair would make him quite nondescript, even with his full black walrus mustache. Tim is easily mistaken for older than he really is, although his deep voice hums with youth.
Strengths
Observant
When Tim pays attention, he pays real close attention. His shades hide the direction of his eyes as he scans other people and makes notes of their appearance and habits. Tim is not one to forget someone he's been introduced to, able to recall trivial details about even individuals he is only passingly familiar with. If Tim were a better Trainer, he might be able to make use of such details in battle, but so far he has made very little practical use of this skill.
Unflappable
Tim doesn't get excited very easily. Or even much at all these days. He's effectively immune to both flattery and goading. He's not insensitive, and he does react internally to things, but outwardly tends to remain lackadaisical in regards to his own person. This means he can keep a level head under duress and won't act on emotions or be driven to acts of passion. It takes a lot to get a meaningful reaction out of him.
Outdoorsy
Tim spends a lot of time in the wilderness and his body is sturdy. Tim's wiry muscles are stronger than they appear, and he has good endurance. This enables him to cross unfriendly terrain and climb rough areas with more ease than might be assumed. He's also a capable swimmer, even managing to clumsily swim and tread water with his heavy boots still on if he needs to. His apathetic demeanor extends even to his very body: he has a remarkable pain tolerance and is not afraid to be bruised up or tossed about. He is also able to scrounge up enough edible plants and water for at least himself in most areas. Although his rough lifestyle has already begun to give him aches and pains sometimes, he powers through them when he needs to.
Weaknesses
Haggard
Tim's wardrobe and behavior make him someone many people don't try to approach, and it leaves him ostracized in many places. Even wild Pokémon tend to avoid him these days, maybe because of the smell. This roughness goes past mere looks too: for his part Tim is uninterested in starting conversations with other people, and he can often zone out, lost in his thoughts. As little as Tim seeks company though, he sorely needs it, and being ostracized pushes him further into reclusion.
Unmotivated
The aloofness that gives Tim his level-headedness is a product of something much less commendable: a lack of passion or motivation. Tim only rarely moves to do anything worthwhile by himself, and will otherwise remain apart from others and meaningful events. His inner thoughts bar him from stepping up to the plate without someone else to direct him. Tim suffers excessive self-doubt that robs him of most feelings of accomplishment even on those occasions where he actually does manage to do something remarkable.
Destitute
Tim is estranged from what little family he has back in Driftveil and, with the passing of his friend, is now largely alone in Galar. Disinterested in home life now, Tim has banked what money he has left and tries not to spend any of it. He often feeds himself out of the wilderness, or very occasionally out of garbage bins. If ever given money, Tim is inclined to deposit it rather than ever use any of it. Tim even goes so far to refuse lodging if it's ever offered, for fear of being beholden: he often sleeps in the wilderness or on the street. Besides a simple backpack to hold his spare clothes and what the school provided him, Tim has nearly nothing else to his name. This tends to bar Tim from ever having proper equipment or tools, forcing him to rely on his ingenuity.
Aspirations
Tim was inspired to become a Trainer by his friend, but when she passed away he lost all motivation. He only made it to graduation at all because he had had such high marks early on. Tim took his friend's Pokémon to look after, and now realizes that he's not fit to raise it. He hopes that, by journeying in the company of the other graduates and observing them, he will find someone who can inspire him to greatness as his friend had. Failing that, he hopes he can find someone who could make his friend's Pokémon happy in his place.
Rival
Tim considered his friend, Versusan Kaee, to be his rival. She was a gifted ranger and adventurer, exploring Galar's nooks and crannies alongside her Rhyhorn. Tim had met her when she had taken a trip to Driftveil, and he followed her to Galar to enlist in the Trainer school in the hopes of someday managing to catch up to her and match her. Only a few weeks before graduation, there was an accident. Tim doesn't like to talk about it. Versusan is dead now, and Tim is lost without her.
Starter Pokemon
Rij the Rhyhorn
Versusan's partner in the wilderness was a Rhyhorn she had befriended in her childhood and whom she called Rij. When Versusan died, Rij found a comrade in grief in Tim, and so Tim took over care for the Rhyhorn. An experienced and sturdy mon, Rij was a proud creature that would put down his head and charge against any adversary. But under Tim, Rij has grown listless, more content to lay about or graze placidly, only with difficulty being prodded to go exploring as he once did. Rij is loyal to Tim, but Tim is not a particularly capable Trainer, and Rij is prone to ignoring orders. Under Versusan, Rij was more of an adventurer than a real battle mon, so despite his experience he is still largely ineffective against other Trainers. Rij is tame enough to let even strangers ride him much of the time, although he tends to go where he pleases. Given the infamous stupidity most Rhyhorns are known to express, Tim sometimes wonders if Rij has already forgotten Versusan. As a grazer, Rij can feed himself easily enough without Tim needing to make special efforts.

Second Pokémon
Henj the Stonjourner
Caught outside Turffield, and the first time Tim had actually caught a Pokémon himself. Tim had decided that maybe another Pokémon would provide companionship for Rij to open up. Unfortunately, Rij is as uninterested in Henj as he is in the rest of the world. For his own part, Henj is similarly low-energy. Though not aloof the way Rij is, the Stonjourner is quite cerebral and given to long quiet moments of deep thought. Henj had allowed himself to be captured after observing Tim's inept attempts to get Rij to battle. Where Tim feels like Rij might be a bit too stupid to connect to, he feels that Henj might be a lot smarter than appearances suggest. Where Tim often feels Rij isn't understanding him, he also feels Henj is looking down a proverbial nose at him. Henj is a little more likely to take orders from Tim, but occasionally decides he knows better than his Trainer.
