  • My character:

    Colonel Augustus Crow

    Male, 21

    Character's appearance:
"Can't you tell? I'm the best looking person on Mars… no, in the universe."

Augustus has short, slightly wavy brown hair, blue eyes and pale skin. He is 175 cm tall and is of an athletic, but not overly muscular build. His features are not particularly striking, neither is he extraordinarily attractive, but when he is in a good mood, his bright smile and confident aura are what draw people's attention. Otherwise, his frown can also be very intimidating.

Augustus does not care much for style. However, he does have a bit of a weakness for military outfits- sometimes, he just can't resist showing off his strength and power, and nothing accentuates that quite as much as an army tunic or jumpsuit. Most of the time, though, you'd find him in jeans and a shirt, or something of that sort.

    Home planet: Mars

    Background:
"I wish we could just get to the point already…"

Augustus was born on Mars. He had been a high-strung and mulishly stubborn child. From a very young age, he'd detested his parents' attempts at educating him- once he'd learnt how to read and write, he deemed his education complete (his parents had neither the time nor the emotional stamina to persuade him) and focused instead on what he really enjoyed doing- building machines.

He spent most of his childhood with his best friend, with whom he played in the heaps of rubble and had many competitions, most of which culminated in fights to decide which of them was the greatest- the fastest, strongest, best creator of machines… Augustus still remains wholly convinced it is him, though Nicholas was- and remains- his equal in many ways.

At the age of 19, the two had managed to create their own armour, similar but with slight (to them significant) variations. Augustus' first tournament was, unsurprisingly, against Nicholas, and both fared rather badly. Since then, the determination to fight each other has subsided somewhat (now, Augustus chooses to direct his determination at scaling the military ladder at the fastest possible pace). "Why do I want to be at the top? Simple- I hate following orders."

    Mech:
"My unique creation- look on and wonder!"

Optimus was created by Augustus from scratch. Dark blue in colour and of a humanoid form, it stands about 6m in height. Optimus is a relatively lightweight armour, making it able to move at high speed, dodging the more blatant enemy attacks. It is equipped with a sword and shield, which make it well adapted to close-range fighting with individual and multiple enemies.

Motion sensor: A radar that notifies Augustus of any movement in the vicinity. It is long range and can be used to interrupt signals from one armour to another- effectively intercepting messages and allowing him to distinguish between friend and foe, and even potentially work out the position of all the enemy mechs of a squadron, making it easier to attack.

Head: Equipped with barrel-like gun protrusions that can shoot bullets at 360 degrees, mid-range. Not very powerful, their main purpose is distracting an enemy, allowing Augustus to advance and use his sword or missile launcher to destroy it.
Shoulders: Armed with missile launchers on either side. Although the missiles are short range and have a relatively long reload time, they are quite powerful and if aimed well, can effectively pierce an enemy's armour.

Sword: The sword has been upgraded since its initial installation by special material Augustus bought from dealers in Jupiter. Stellanium, a new material discovered for its incredible strength and hardness, is able to slash through almost any material, including the durable metal of most mech armour. The sword is relatively flexible and can expand to become a whip, making it easier to fight against multiple enemies. This weapon is favoured by Augustus because of the high level of skill required to handle it.

Shield: Made from a durable metal that is resistant to most forms of light attack (including normal swords and bullets), it protects Augustus in short range battle. Although a magnetic field can be extended from the shield to protect from stronger attack such as missiles, this is really not advisable as it lasts for only a matter of seconds and saps a lot of energy. Unfortunately, Augustus has not found a way of improving this, despite numerous attempts.

    Roleplay Sample:

Time is like a book through which I flip listlessly; today- an endless moment which ebbs and flows. If only… if only there was something to do. For I am a knight, yet my days are occupied only by battling boredom.

Injured; a word with connotations that Augustus Crow did not want to accept under any circumstances- defeat, disgrace, destruction… and most of all that dreaded monotony called 'recovery'. What was he really recovering? Physical strength? He really wished that wouldn't be necessary, that his strength of will alone could push him through. He was sick of counting the cracks in the ceiling- there were 73- and he swore that if he heard one more "Oh, poor little Gus!" from his mother, he would throw that glass of water on his bedside table at the wall, regardless of how much pain it would cause him. No, recovery is as damaging a process as injury itself is- it grates at your sanity.

As Augustus clutched the pillow with his good left hand, feeling a strong desire to rip it to shreds, he thought of the only thing that could possibly comfort him: fighting, flying, his armour- the sense of freedom… Its arms, no, his arms, expanded long beyond the normal range of movement, and the speed at which the sword slices- through air, bones and metal alike… All is equal before his blade. And that surge of power! Accelerating, rushing towards a greater goal than you could ever imagine, and time is no longer dripping, but gushing, and air is running and I must must must catch it, before-

    I plummet to reality.

Reality, that new burst of pain in his right side. Augustus swore that once he was out of this predicament, he would destroy the bastard that got him in this state. Well, destroy him more than he already was- and he had fared worse than Augustus, who had the luck of landing right on the bugger. That frankly suicidal know-nothing who, aware that he could not win, decided to take them both down in a torrent of scorching metal, burnt flesh, snapping bones and mechanical rubble. Yes, the worst thing about this was not Augustus' own injury- he knew he would recover eventually- but the fact that his beautiful armour was back to scratch. And that was something he could not tolerate. He found himself clutching at the pillow yet again. Quaking intensely with fury and thus causing his wounds to sear with renewed vigour, flames of agony licking along his body and across his mind, Augustus felt his vision flicker, spark and black out.

    ----

Hope this is okay... sorry for it being quite late ;o

  • So right off I see that the mech needs to be bigger :x Augustus is already nearly 2 meters tall, and usually the armours have pods that size within them to hold the pilot and then there's a body built around that. If you want something small and agile then it still needs to be at the very least 2.5 meters tall, but most mechs are at least 4 or 5 times that size. And of course being that small leaves little room for error. If someone hits you with just about anything then you're probably going to be dead.

I don't mean to discourage you or anyting, just some things to think about. If you fix the height then it looks like it should be acceptable.

Name and rank in the military: Katrina 'Kat' Esmara

    Gender and Age: Female, 22

    Character's appearance:
    Spoiler:

Kat is a petite, short girl, standing proudly at a mere five feet tall with a slender frame. She has big, bright green eyes. which she hide behind a pair of large, black lenses that are clearly too big for her svelte face. She has medium-length dyed violet hair, and usually matches it with the same color lipstick on her full lips. Kat typically wears clothing that is edgier. She enjoys darker colors, mostly blacks with rips across his pant legs. Most of her clothing also has a large amount of zippers. She also occasionally wears a long black trench coat. If Kat ever wears colored clothing, they'd usually be purposefully mismatched in colors, just to be different.

Home planet: Jupiter, but currently moving around.

Mech name, a description of it and its abilities: Reference Picture

CODENAME: F-06 Aurogaunt (Called just F-06, or sometimes 'Franky')

The Foehammer Class-06 Aurogaunt, or simply the F-6, is a custom, highly experimental mech commisioned from multiple sources for Kat's father. Built to withstand an enormous amount of punishment, the F-6 contains layers upon layers of steel to protect its rider. This however also causes it to be very heavy, and move much slower than the average mech. It's heavy hitting, combined with its experimental weaponry and functions cause it to be a dangerous opponent. However, its drawbacks to each of its functions has also listed it as being extremely dangerous for the pilot.

The nature of the F-06, combined with the callous and precarious way it is utilized by Kat, has caused it to be damaged severely on numerous occasions.

    • Head: Steel Usurper Helm - Thick, steel head which provides great protection.
    • Front: Olympus Breastplate - Custom-ordered from the Martian homeworld, this modified Nanodyne Breastplate offers additional protection from both physical and ranged attacks, especially against sustained, splashing damage. The downside is the extra thick layer of shielding increases the overall weight of the F-06 and slows its movement.
    • Back: Vanaheim Ironhide Cannon - Heavy, mounted cannon on F-06's back, the cannon fires off condensed missiles. Powerful, but very weighty, which slows down the mech's movements. However, is based on ammo solution rather than energy or other variants. Contains six powerful shots. As each shot is fired, however, the weight of the mech decreases, increasing its speed somewhat. Can be combined with nuclear particle energy into legs to increase power, but could prove very damaging to F-06, and would rob F-06 of one the boost points on the legs for the fight.
    • Arms: Callisto Titanium Fists - Massive, heavy fists foiled with sheets upon sheets of metal, the Titanium fists are used for one purpose: Smashing the hell out of anything and everything.
    • Legs: Nuclear Particle Reactor Boosters - Six individual boosts on the back of the mech's legs. Operated on nuclear energy rather than being synchronized to the driver, the boosters rely on nuclear energy infused within the hind legs to provide a short, but powerful boost forward. Because of its separation from Kat's neurohelm, the boosters are activated remotely by a button located in the cockpit, and are still able to be activated even if the mech's other systems have been disabled or gone offline. Because of the sheer weight of F-06, one usage is all the mech would be good for before it would have to be refueled, so it is typically used as a back-up resort. However, when it is used, it packs an enormous punch. Can be very damaging to the F-06. Can be extremely damaging if combined with the Ironhide Cannon.
    Background and History:

Katrina was born on one of the many moons of Jupiter, along with her twin brother Drake. Her family was nobility on the planet, and so she grew up in a very privileged life. Katrina's father had ties with the royal family on their planet, and thus he would constantly seek ways of improving relations with them. One of the ways he did this was to help fund the defense of the planet through mechs he would sanction to be created. He also found himself with an appetite for collection of more rare and personalized models. Katrina's father would often spend vasts amounts of his wealth on mechs for his own private enjoyment. Many of these cut into his finances quite a bit. Still, he kept the outward appearance that his family was in top shape, despite the fact that he was garnering a tremendous amount of debt.

One a typical voyage for Kat and Drake, their ship was inexplicably shut down in the middle of transit, and they were ambushed by brigands. Kat and Drake's personal guards were slain, and their crew were killed. The siblings were the only survivors, and were taken by the brigands deep into the Wreck. There, they were to be held until they were to be ransomed back to the father. But the siblings' father had become in so much debt, with many of his collectors now calling back to him, that he simply could not afford to ransom back his children, unless he were to sell his precious collections. It was then that the twisted man, with his endless fascination for the large robotic monsters, found himself caring for them more than his own flesh and blood. He denied the bandits an exchange, and thus Kat and Drake were trapped with them without a way out.

The bandits, in the frustration, took to torturing and abusing the two siblings. Katrina endured all manner of excruciating, horrid pain while in their captivity. They were treated like filth, like human refuse. There were many times that she thought that she would simply die. There were many times that she thought that she would rather die. Had it not been for her brother's presence there with her, she very well might have. Her captivity altered her outlook. On life, on other people, on trust. Everything was different after that horrendous time.

Yet the two had developed a bond through the tribulations they faced. They became more in tune with each other, and developed an unspoken understanding and ability to perceive each other's feelings, and work better together. It was through this that the pair were finally able to break out of their captivity, and destroy their captors. Kat and Drake hijacked their mechs, and finally escaped the torturous prison. In her anger and rage, Kat wanted to get back at her father for abandoning them to rot. The two hatched a plan to sneak into his estate, and steal a pair of his first-rate mechs he has in his private collection. As their plan was underway, Kat, in her hatred, found an opportunity to not only steal from her father's precious collection, but also use them to kill her father. It wouldn't be any less than he deserved, according to her. She would have gone through with it too, hand it not been for Drake, who convinced her move on from her past, instead of living in it. She let the bastard live at the last moment, and instead the two made off with the mechs.

From there, they made their way to the Wreck, doing whatever work they could scrounge up. They taught themselves how to use the mechs, with what they remembered during their time with their father, and found themselves to be quite adept, albeit unconventional in their usage. However, they also found that they worked extremely well together, as the two mechs were meant to work as a tag-team to begin with.

  • Name and rank in military: Drake Esmara

    Gender and Age: Male, 22

    Character appearance:
    Spoiler:

Drake is a relatively tall, relatively handsome young man. Standing around six feet tall with a fairly slender frame, Drake appears to carry his frame quite well, being a skilled athlete in most cases. This is mostly true, however Drake's history would reveal that much of his frame has been influenced by trauma and his newfound muscle development is still quite new. His most striking feature is his long, straight brown hair, which lies with natural beauty and ease. Drake hardly makes an effort to tame it, but clearly does not need to. The hair parts with ease, revealing his dull blue eyes, a far cry from the more striking green eyes of his twin sister. However, Drake does come with very clean, well-defined facial features that several have found appealing.

Drake's wardrobe prefers functionality to form. He tends to favor earthly and sometimes tones, such as browns, blues and greys. His favorite outfit is a classical brown pilot's jacket over a blue sweater, making him prepared for nearly any situation. Dark blue denim jeans cover his pants, held up with a black leather belt and matching black boots keep him safe in any terrain. Drake does not indulge in any accessories, preferring to keep things simple.

Home Planet: Jupiter, but currently traveling actively.

Mech name, a description of it and its abilities :

    CODENAME: ESA-13 "Azrael"

The ESA-13, or Experimental Saturnine Armor Model 13, affectionately dubbed "Azrael", is the embodiment of Saturnine armor design. Tall, sleek and vicious in appearance, Azrael is aptly named. However, underneath the exterior lies within a host of experimental, highly advanced technology that has yet to truly experience the horrors of the battle. Azrael, while having been tested by Drake for some time, is very much an armor that exists more in theory rather than in practice.

Azrael is designed as a dueling armor, a far cry from usual Saturnine design. Equipped with a large and deadly plasma sword, Azrael relishes in melee combat and nothing more, having very limited ranged options that stem from the blade itself. Furthermore, Azrael's capabilities exist solely to close the gap between opponent and the pilot, using near supernatural levels of speed, maneuverability and dexterity to navigate the battlefield and overwhelm the opponent with speed and power. As such, Azrael lacks many defensive options and comes equipped with a number of other faults that greatly endanger the pilot. In general, it is an armour that favors short, quick fights due to its limitations in exhaustive wars of attrition. The armor is better explained with its notable customizations below:

Head: Thanatos Combat Analysis and Tactical System 2.0:
The Thanatos Combat Analysis and Tactical System 2.5, often simply referred to as the Thanatos System, is by far the most risk-orientated component of the Azrael armor. Named after the Greek God of Death, the Thanatos System is an analytic program that is consumed in death. Upon gathering data through various audio and visual prompts housed in the cameras, attenas, radars, etc. primarily focused in the head, the Thanatos system utilizes its highly advanced algorithms and computations to determine future outcomes and possible courses of action that can be employed to achieve either absolute victory or fatal defeat. To maximize effectiveness and minimize failure, the Thanatos System directs directly to the pilot's mind, decreasing reaction times in battle, but also flooding the mind with the raw data that Thanatos System produces. Due to the limits of the human mind, the pilot will vividly "hallucinate" each and every possible path the system finds. In the best case, the pilot will be able to choose a favorable path and only suffer minor psychological damage. The worst case, the pilot is completely overwhelmed by the statistics and estimated values, suffering from temporary insanity, and possible defeat. Fortunately the system can be turned off, making the Thanatos System something of a trump card for the Azrael.

Front: 2nd generation Aerion Reactor Core:
Due to highly complex technology housed within Azrael, a special type of power source had to be implemented. Therefore, the Aerion Reactor was adapted, reworked and installed. Very new and mostly still in the experiment phase, the Aerion Reactor was designed following the discovery of Aerionite, a heavy yet potent resource that could drive reactors far more effectively and produce less radiation. However, the resource, despite pumping out incredible amounts of energy in a safe manner, also released incredible amounts of heat, causing many of the first generation reactors to overheat.

The Azrael armor utilizes a second generation Aerion Reactor as its core to power the suit without the limitations and risks of Nuclear or Ionic cores. It is incredible efficient, powerful and offers incredible potential and versatility. The Azrael, due to the core is a fast and powerful armor and is relatively self-sufficient. Furthermore, all of the advanced technologies receive a steady stream of power, allowing the suit to run at its fullest. The core also has the capability to enter an "overdrive" mode, where the core is super clocked to produce more energy to allow the suit to push past its limits.

The drawbacks of this design, however, are twofold. Firstly, the core is prone to overheating, especially when in overdrive. This means the armor needs to be continuously ventilated, cooled and monitored in over to prevent meltdowns or an internal damage to overheating. This means the core needs constant attention and management as well. Secondly, the core has been inserted into the center of the chest with a large fan for ventilation purposes, creating a rather obvious weak point in another stable suit of armor.

Back/Shoulders: Aerius Wing Propulsion System V3:
Due to the Aerion Reactor Core, new technologies were conceived for the Azrael. One such innovation was the Aerius Wing Propulsion System, utilizing experimental technology to direct the power output of the Aerion reactor to a form of propulsion. The effect is very potent, allowing the Azrael to reach incredible speeds. However, the speed is erratic and difficult to control. The wings, crafted by a form of plasma, allow for increased mobility and control in high-speed situations. The wings, themselves, are very solid and withstand most attacks, however, their shoulder mounts are more vulnerable.

    Right Arm: The Flamberge:
The crown jewel and sole weapon of the Azrael, the Flamberge is a titantic plasma sword powered by a miniature Aerion reactor, further increasing the already intense heat of plasma by pumping the excess heat generated by the reactor into the "blades" of the sword. This alone makes the Flamberge capable of cutting through nearly any material, overpowering defenses through sheer force. The Flamberge is also capable of charging energy from the reactor to limited ranged attacks, creating blades of plasma with fast sword swings. The range is exceptionally limited, but can be an effective spacing tool.

The weakness of the super hot weapon is obvious. On the one hand, it is the only weapon on hand. It is a very powerful and deadly weapon with variable range, and among the mightiest sword in armor warfare, but it is only one weapon. Secondly, the miniature core can be easily exploited as a literal weakness, but also its energy drain is exceptional. Overuse can cause the Flamberge to "revert" to a standard plasma sword, reducing to a more comparable baseline level.

    Legs: Ethorian Replusor Technology:
The Ethorian Replusor Technology, located on the back of the legs and knee offer another form of tight control to the fast suit. Replusor technology is primarily used for stabilization, especially in flight. Repurposed from space transportation, the Ethorian design is primarily implemented into Saturnine suits to its quick and effective means of implementing speed boosts, tight turns and efficient hovering in all atmospheres (or space). The technology is energy efficient, and Drake favors this form of acceleration when applicable.

    Background and History:
Drake was born on one of the many moons of Jupiter, along with his twin sister, Katrina. His family was nobility on the planet, and so he grew up in a very privileged culture, affording many opportunities that few others received. Drake's father had ties with the royal family on their planet, and thus he would constantly seek ways of solidifying ties with the family to further construct an even greater prestige. Military development seemed to be his father's preference in fostering this closer relationship, constructing unique models and acquiring new ones on a semi regular basis. Through this, Drake's father found himself with an addiction for collecting more rare and personalized models, willing to spend his acquired wealth on these armors out of whatever satisfaction he found in collecting, and hardly using such weapons of armor, despite the great financial burden collecting had on the family. The debt was easy to hide, but impossible to ignore within the confines of the family.

On a typical voyage for the siblings, their ship was inexplicably shut down in the middle of transit, and Drake and Katrina (or Kat as she prefers) were abducted by brigands, following the deaths of their personal guards and crew. The siblings were the only survivors, and were taken by the brigands deep into the Wreck, where they were to be held until they were to be ransomed back to the father. However, due to the vast amount of debt he can accrued in the years of collecting, and the intent to collect from his "investors", Drake's father was unable to afford the ransom demands, lest he sold back his valuable collection. It was then that the twisted and greedy man, with his endless fascination for the large robotic machinations of war, found himself caring for them more than his own flesh and blood. He denied the bandits an exchange, and Drake and Kat were at the mercy of their captors.

The bandits, in the frustration over perhaps the largest amount of profit they would strike in a single strike, took to torturing and abusing the two siblings. Whereas Katarina was quite strong, Drake did not respond the abuse as well. The man became weak in mind and body, unable to cope with the torture. His confidence was shaken, his body battered and his mind cracked. His only solace was that his sister's willpower and the slim hope that escape was feasibility. That and his seething rage. Drake took a hating to mankind as a whole, lacking any degree of trust in others except his sister.

Looking back Drake found one thing to smile about: the development of a unique bond with his twin. They became more in tune with each other, and developed an unspoken understanding and ability to perceive each other's feelings, and work better together. Through the use of the bond, Drake and Kat found a way to break free of the captors, designed and executed mostly through Kat, while Drake worked on hijacking the mechs and disabling their systems to eliminate any possibility of pursuit. In her anger and rage, Kat wanted to get back at her father for abandoning them to rot, of which Drake was more than inclined to entertain and, better yet, assist. Together, they engineered a plan to sneak into his estate, and steal a pair of his first-rate mechs he has in his private collection. As their plan was underway, Kat, in her hatred, found an opportunity to not only steal from her father's precious collection, but also use them to kill her father. Drake, however, insisted on letting him live, as killing their father would only contribute to the problem. Additionally, Drake wanted to move on from the memories of the torturous prison, still suffering from the abuse he had to endure. Drake wanted to forge a new future, and swore to himself to never be captured again. He would be strong and use his power to protect himself and the family he cared for.

From there, the two made their way to the Wreck, doing whatever work they could scrounge up with their new-found mechs. They taught themselves how to use the suits they stole, with what they remembered during their time with their father, along with the ingenuity of improvisation and knowledge Drake happened to have on hand. Two siblings found themselves to be quite adept, albeit unconventional in their usage. However, they also found that they worked extremely well together, as the two mechs were meant to work as a tag-team to begin with.

  • I wish to re affirm my reservation, I want to play as a Pirate/Brigand who had a monastic living growing up and it went sour.

What is the state of living on other planets? Biodomes?
I am a bit confused with Wreck armour and the customisability in general but will research other SU.

  • I'm hoping that spots are still open? If so, I'd love to get a reservation.

I'm actually done, with the exception of my roleplay sample.

Name and rank in the military: Kaleric (Kale-Rick) Vehemis, Sergeant in King Arthur's army
"My name is Kaleric, but you can call me Sergeant or sir."

Gender and Age: A twenty-one year old male
"Yes, the perfect age, I know. Alcohol is quite the creation."

    Character's appearance:
"Don't tell me...I'm scrawnier than the mechanic you ordered."
Kaleric is tall and thin, standing at around 6'2 and weighing in around 145 pounds. He is well-muscled, as one should hope to be after working in a smith's forge for nigh on fourteen years, but it's a wiry sort of strength. His skin is surprisingly pale for one who works in a forge. He often keeps his long, light brown hair out of his eyes using his goggles or a white, sweat and grease stained bandanna. He can't have hair getting in his golden eyes.

Kale often dresses on the nicer side, differing from the majority of mechanics. He has no fear of dirtying his clothes, however. He is VERY neat, and he likes his workshop tidy. His typical apparel consists of dark pants, capable of passing as dress pants, a white dress shirt, with the sleeves typically rolled up, and whatever finery he decides is fit that day.

    Spoiler:

Home planet (this will decide which army you are in): Mars
"The best pile of dirt in the galaxy."

Mech name, a description of it and its abilities:
"Are we speaking of Doc Shock? Would you care to hear all of the glorious design plans I have?"

The Mobile Mechanic, or as many of Arthur's knights have come to know it, Doc Shock
The Mobile Mechanic is of Kaleric's own design, with some assistance from his father, of course. It has no base build, in all reality. All of it was scavenged from parts in the arena's junkyard. The mech isn't exactly tiny, but it's definitely not the size of most combat mech's. Considering most mechs are about 10 meters, Doc Shock is relatively small at 6 meters. It's very humanoid, with the exception of the giant buzz saw on its back. Doc's body shape is rounded, making it very aerodynamic and hard to grasp. It's not meant for prolonged combat. Its very light, which is necessary, seeing as Kaleric is essentially a combat medic. He flies in, fixes his buddies up, and flies out, although he can put of a fairly good fight if he needs to. When it comes to close ranged combat, he's considered a master. He can be called upon to blast rubble away, fix up mechs, and all the basic engineer work that he can't do outside of his mech. Kaleric has an eye for being flashy, so the arms of the mech are painted electricity-yellow, the legs are painted a bright crimson, the head cobalt blue, and the torso a bright, plasma-shaded blue.

Kale's style of combat can be described as, "cautiously reckless." He is very conscientious of his fellow squad mates, often going out of his way to make dire repairs, even when surrounded by dozens of enemies. When he's focused on the offensive he flies in to deal all sorts of weak blows with his Delvers. His rocket boots and light mech make him hard to hit, so he can focus on finding a weak point in his opponent's armor. When Kale's opponent is distracted he'll charge his Delver's to full blast and release a double-dose of massive power. Should this fail to topple his enemy, his switched to his handy dandy Bang Bang knuckles. He takes a boxing stance and delivers lots of quick jabs and occasional hooks or uppercuts. When the enemy is finally stunned, he goes in for the kill with the Hornet. A superheated buzz saw can short work of all but the best armor.

    Head: "Cyclops" Laser Visor:
A standard battle helmet with a red visor over the eyes. The visor releases a short range continuous laser beam capable of welding pieces of metal, functioning as a mining tool, and giving your opponent a nasty surprise. More of a maintenance tool, however. Seeing as it is a welding tool, it contains a sensor system that can pinpoint chinks in armor to avoid in repairs, and "avoid" in combat. The accuracy and detail the sensors receive are quite excellent.

    Front: "Swiss Army" Tool Box
A peculiar piece of equipment designed by Kaleric's father. Imagine your average breastplate, but with hundreds of plasma and laser tools stored within it. There's plasma hammers, galva-wrenches, vibro-saws, and everything that can be found in a mech repair shop. Some are human-sized, and others are mech sized. Many of these tools can double as makeshift weapons.

    Back: "Hornet" Buzz Saw
On the back of Kalerick's mech is a steel, plasma lined buzz saw placed on a flexible mechanical, controllable arm. It's your typical buzz saw shape, round with several cutting edges, but a battery in the back provides a super-heated plasma coated edge. It's very handy for cutting off unnecessary pieces of metal, and if used very gently, can be used to weld. It can slice through the hardest metals if extra power is sent to the battery. On a side note, it makes for a nasty weapon. Nobody wants a super-heated buzz saw cutting their mech in half.

    Both Arms: "Delver" Laser Multi-Tool
The Delver is shaped exactly like your typical laser pistol, but it's actually a mining implement. It's capable of firing extremely powerful short ranged laser blasts, capable of blasting through a foot of rock (or an unfortunate mech's head,) . The blast, however, takes a moment to charge, and using it overheats the Delver for several moments. It also provides a gentle, continuous beam of energy for working around sensitive materials, and emitting a thin laser blade for precise carving and cutting. Both are also capable of firing mid-range weak laser beams.

    Both Arms: "Bang-Bang" Galvanized Knuckles
An invention of Kaleric's design, the "Bang-Bang" Galvanized Knuckles are exactly what they sound like: Knuckles that have been redesigned to emit a varying range of electricity. By controlling the amount of voltage they release from his cockpit, Kaleric can release just enough to bring a mech's system back online, or unleash an ungodly amount of energy, capable of stunning the largest of mechs. Can only be used when a Delver has been holstered. Kale can increase the strength and speed of his arms by redirecting energy throughout them.

    Legs: Suped-up Rocket Boots
These are your typical rocket boots on steroids. Kalerick tweaked and modded these boots so they could be more maneuverable, have longer flight time, fly at extraordinary speeds, and even be used as extremely short ranged flamethrowers. If removed from Doc Shock, Kale can remotely control them to do some mad kicks and stuff.

    The C3N7AUR
The Centaur is the most ridiculous piece of machinery that Kale could possibly imagine: The body and legs of a horse, the torso, arms, and head of a human, the torso is several hundred meters tall, about 500 or 600, and is one of the first mechs of its kind. The Centaur functions as an armed mech carrier, and although it has the firepower to virtually destroy a planet and its mother, it can fit hundreds upon hundreds of mechs within its horse torso. Also, it has a pretty sick stereo system, so that's a plus. The C3N7AUR is Kale's crowning achievement.

    Head: The ImperviHelm
The head of the C3N7AUR is also invented by Kale, as one could tell by the name. The helm is the cockpit and control center of the entire mech. Kale values his life more than his comrades', so he's made the helm thirty meters thick. It's almost completely impenetrable. Other than being the state of the art KaleVehe control center, it has no other special properties.

The Vehemis Battlestation: A prototype of Kale's, the Vehemis Battle Station is aptly named. This gorgeous piece of technology is the ultimate offensive machine. Kale has rigged the human torso with dozens upon dozens of laser turrets and missile launchers, as well as automated machinegun turrets capable of firing by themselves. The laser turrets and missile launchers can be fired from the cockpit, but they can be manned by individual knights for far better accuracy. Along with the turrets, Kale has installed massive stereo system encompassing the entire mech. The speakers specializing in blasting techno metal, a mixture between old death metal and hardcore techno. The music holds no use other than inspiring the men.The horse torso, although not covered with turrets, has a massive rocket launcher on its back, about 200 meters tall. The launcher contains hundreds of high explosive missiles. This is the main offensive feature of the C3N7AUR. That's not the main feature, however. The inside of the horse's body is what Kale likes to call the Trojan carrier system. The massive body can house at least seven or eight mechs within it. The bottom of the torso opens up with two bay doors, allowing the mechs to drop instantly. This piece of technology is Kale's crowning achievement. He is very proud of it. The only flaw that he's noticed with his system is the massive amounts of power that it draws from the rest of the mech, but it's the price that one must pay to be capable of demolishing entire moons.

    Arms: The Electro Galva Sword
The Electro Galva Sword is a massive, powerful sword. This sword is proportional to Kale's mech, so it's about 200 or 300 meters long, capable of shearing entire structures in half. When it comes to combating mechs, it's actually only extremely efficient with mech's close to C3N7AUR's size. It's sort of like swatting flies with a pen, otherwise. The sword, as the name suggests, is a conduit for thousands upon thousands of kilowatts. The maximum amount of energy released can put thousands of stations out of power at once.

    Arms: Grapple-Super Punch Gauntlets
These, invented by Kale, are extremely efficient gauntlets made for Melee combat. Kale has given them the ability to punch with enough force to topple anything up to three hundred meters tall. These gauntlets are extremely strong, capable of lifting entire buildings to be used as clubs.

    Legs: Super Bad-Ass Legs
The only thing that keeps the C3N7AUR from toppling. These legs are two hundred meters tall, and made of the sturdiest metals that Kale could swindle. The legs have jet rockets powerful enough to lift the mech several hundreds of feet in the air, but it can only be for short periods of time.

    Background and History of you:
"My past? Would you care to know of my glorious promotions or my father's grandiose forge?"
Kale was born on Mars to mechanically-inclined parents. His father was a very successful smith, one of the leaders in the arena repair shop, and his mother was one of the finest electricians on the planet. He took after them from an early age, often spending hours at at time watching them work on a mech that had been damaged in the arena. He began to work with them at age six, handling simple things like screwing in screws, hammering dents out, or using an electric saw to cut pieces of metal. (Yes, that's simple. This is the future.) At the age of ten he was allowed to work with plasma and laser tools, which he showed considerable aptitude with. Soon enough he became a smith in his father's shop.

Over the years, Kale and his father began putting together his own mech. Kale had told his father that he wanted to be a knight, and he wouldn't be let down. As the mech progressed towards finality, it was evident that it would become a support mech. At age eighteen the mech was finished, and Kale took it to the arena. He showed excellent prowess with handling opponents several times larger than him, although he did lose battles to mechs roughly the same size or slightly larger, but he won his seven battles and achieved knighthood in mere months. He was taken to Earth, where he underwent the rigorous training that was required to be a knight. His officers approved of his skill at repairing and stabilizing damaged mechs, but he simply couldn't stand and fight. Whenever thrown in to combat, he would simply dart in and out, delivering light blows with the Delvers until he would find an opening to unleash a dual "Mining blast." Although it worked in single combat, it would never fly in an actual battle. Thus, he was granted the title, "Field Mechanic." He rose to the rank of sergeant after two long years of field repairs, fighting raiders from the Wreck, and fighting in the arena.

On a side note: Kale is shown to be a natural prodigy when it comes to repairing broken mechs. He can also jury rig and throw together random parts to create somewhat useful inventions. Given his years of experience in to field of metallurgy, he considers himself an expert is quite proud of his work, and can be a little arrogant. As neat as he is, however, his shop is littered with random junk. Except his junk pile is organized how he likes it.

    Name: Noelle Lambert

Rank: none--Noelle has not yet enlisted into any military

Age: 47 years old (29 in Earth years)

Planet of origin: born and raised on Venus

Background and history: Noelle is the daughter of two well-known armoursmithes, Carlton and Diana Lambert. Lending their craft to the Vesper militia, they were able to give their daughter a comfortable and sheltered life. Despite her upbringing, Noelle has always had a thirst for adventure, and has always looked up at the stars with wonder and excitement.

Noelle has a little bit of combat experience. She is trained in Vesperian martian arts, but her teaching focused mainly on self-defense. Besides, she has never been in a situation where she's had to use it, other than sparring with her classmates and one tournament she competed in (her 3rd place trophy is still sitting on her shelf).

She recently graduated from Eastlight University with a degree in metalworking. Currently, she makes her living repairing broken armour for the local Vesper militia in the city of Eastlight. She has a near encyclopedic knowledge of metal casting and the density and deformation moduli of various metals--some might even call her obsessed. She's been known to scold some of her customers for damaging their armour too often, always half-jokingly telling them "don't come back too soon!" when she's finished with her repairs.

    Spoiler:

Appearance: 5'9", fair-skinned, black hair down to her shoulders. Her attire is generally business casual: plain solid color button down blouses, slim jeans, and black high-heeled boots. She usually tries to maintain an astute, professional appearance.

    Spoiler:

    The Nathair:
Diana Lambert's greatest work, the Nathair is a Lambert-type (often abbreviated as Λ-type) armour built for speed, quick movements, and evasiveness. Like all Λ-types, it is made of the trademark Lambert titanium-steel alloy, which is meticulously forged and re-forged to produce a light-weight alloy. While this design isn't good for war machines driven by rank and file soldiers, it is the perfect armour for scouts and mercenaries. The Nathair in particular excels at evasion. Despite its comparatively low defensive capabilities, it's more than capable of taking a few hits. Still, the user should always make evasion her first and primary concern in combat.

Head: long-range area scanner that can detect other mechs. Also contains a database which gives metrics on an armour's make, model, planet of origin, and approximate strength (only works with armour that has been encountered before).

Back: A teleportation unit. This is the centerpiece of the Nathair's evasive abilities. It can teleport up to 200 meters away. This ability is not without limitations, however. Each jump consumes a large amount of energy, and the larger the distance, the more energy it consumes. It can teleport through solid walls, but the amount of energy it takes to do so depends both on the thickness of the wall and the density of the material the wall is made of. A four foot thick metal wall would likely consume all the Nathair's energy, unless there is an alternative route to the other side of the wall.

The teleportation unit also functions as a sheath for two high frequency dual-blades, known collectively as jadokken.

Front: solid carbinium for increased defense

Arms: Titanium-steel alloy, with decreased density and streamlined design for quicker movement.

Legs: Made of a titanium-steel alloy, with a sheath on the left leg which holds a long, curved, high-frequency blade, known as the Di-Sword. This beautiful sword is Noelle's prized possession. It is capable of going into "overdrive mode", in which state its vibration frequency increases tremendously, and it glows brightly (anywhere from pink to violet, depending on the energy state).

  • I have a question. If the role play advances to a certain point, would it be acceptable for a second mech to be built? (Assuming Doc Shock is still around.) Also, will we be able to improve our current equipment with minor parts and such as long as we have the mechanical know-how?

  • Following C-Dog's question, will we have access to NPC stores selling mech parts?

I will let you know when that opportunity becomes available. If your current character dies or their armour is unsalvageable or in a state where it needs a month or so to completely repair then that would be a good time to make a new one. And depending on how much posting goes on once I get this up and running I may allow for people to make second player characters. If you'd like to throw up some semi important NPCs for sub plot purposes and make character sheets for them then that is also acceptable.

Following C-Dog's question, will we have access to NPC stores selling mech parts?

Yes, but it's not really selling and buying. Goods and services are traded for goods and services. So in the beginning of the RP if you wanted an upgrade you might offer a mechanic protection for a couple of weeks as compensation for whatever you're getting from them, or offer them something else they might need like salvaged parts from a previous battle. Of course you are given scheduled upgrades based on performance if you're in one of the military. So there's that too.

  • Hey, can we get a rough timeline of the events of the war, the opening of the wyrmgates, etc.? I mostly want to get an idea of how long the war lasted, and how long it's been since MerGN-A got driven from Earth.

If you'd like for me to add in any other details such as dates of birth and other such things I can. But that's just the general timeline of events leading up to the start of the RP. As things progress I can continue to edit it with all of the major happenings that you do and don't see. I started everything on January 1 for convenience and because it wouldn't let me not put a day and month.
