I only watched the first two or three seasons. But if I remember right, this is how a typical battle went for ash.
Ash sends out his pokemon, and opponent sends out theirs
Ash gets his but whooped the entire match, but he gets 1 lucky hit at the end and for some reason that wins the battle for him.
It seems that ash is most of the time not so smart, but I guess he smart enough to make the most out of a lucky situation :P
From my perspective Ash is not very traditionally masculine and although this may seem seriosuyl like a stretch and I am not even saying its bad but I honestly thing it is implied in the cartoon he is probably homosexual or bisexual. I am not being homophobic keep in mind I have friends who are gay I just think that the character is based on someone who is likely gay. Not because he seems to even have much of a sexual side to the character but his temperament and attitude when it comes to battle is more feminine that most others.
Yeah, same in my opinion. When Misty left, I think he went gay with Brock. =\ But what does that have to do with howsmartdumb he is?
Satoshi is arrogant and rash. Typical shonen main character :/ ZOMG LOOK THE POKEMON IS FALLING, LETS JUMP OFF A CLIFF TO SAVE IT :o
Haha, true xD
Ash is selfish and selfless at the same time. And smart/lucky and dumb/silly at the same time as well. I still don't think he is a realistic character.
I think because he is more feminine he doesn't believe in himself or feel like he could get a real job or do something really powerful like most males feel like they can. So maybe he just has some things in himself he needs to realize you know. Just my two cents,
