Ugh, I'm pretty sure that's fairly accurate. I almost never choose the grass starter so I can remember when I do, but I might have gotten things swapped around some places. Since Gen I I've always used all three starters in my team on my first playthrough too, so I forget which one I choose...

For the first time I play a game I use the grass starter. Obviously Yellow is an exception. Oh and tbh for Gen 1 I was too young and I can't remember. I think it was Charmeleon. But we played sooooo many times, and sooo many hacks that I used them all a lot of time. Same for gen 2, but for this generation (crystal) I remember Chikorita being my first.
I choose Torchic in Ruby. Turtwig in Diamond, Snivy in Black, Chespin in Y and Rowlet in Sun,
