    Keystones

    WbOnbm8.jpg

The middle-aged man sat, tired, in his chair at the end of the long boardroom table. He sighed. They were such perfect, beautiful objects. Why did they have to get rid of them?

"…Are there any objections?" He called out. He knew that however risky or awful the plan was, his board had to go through with it. If there were any alternatives, he'd gladly take them up – but there were none; things had progressed too far for that now. This was the final solution.

    Hearing no objections, he continued.

"Very well, then. See to it that the artifacts are sent out immediately. Clean them first, they look horribly dusty. We wouldn't want our recipients thinking us cheap."

No-one laughed at his joke. He sighed again.

It had been a very long day.

    Plot

You are someone living within the world of Pokémon. After a long day's work, you sat down to rest somewhere. Regardless of location, it was waiting for you. A plain box wrapped in brown paper and tied with string, no larger than a shoebox. Covered in dust, it looked like it hadn't been touched for years. On it sat a single tag – bearing your name.
Inside the box you found, buried in packing foam and wrapped in bubble wrap, a strange stone. It shone magnificently, and looked like it had a double-helix structure inside. It strangely resembled one of your Pokémon.

Upon further inspection, you found a curious envelope with a red wax seal in the box. The letter inside said…

Hey, a present for you and your friend. Even though it looks valuable, don't sell it. Let no-one else know about it. Please.

In the bottom-right corner was the number '1'.

Regarding the letter as little more than a curiosity, you placed the stones somewhere you'd remember them and then went about your business for the rest of the night, before eventually going to sleep.

The next morning, instead of waking up in your own bed, you find yourself in the middle of a thick forest. It's early morning, and absolutely freezing. You can't see or hear any people or Pokémon. When you sit up, you notice a bulky backpack – with another envelope on top, addressed to you. It bears the number two, and says…

Expect more letters - the situation has become complicated. Anyway, three of your companions made the trip with you. Remember: Your supplies will last a week. The fog is too thick to navigate through via the air – good luck. Have fun.

Where are you? How did you get here? Why did you get those weird stones?
There's only one way to find out. Time to get exploring – but be careful, you may not be alone…

    [Press Start]

'Keystones' is an RP in which you take the role of what was once an ordinary citizen of the Pokémon world, Trainer or otherwise. Thrust into an unfamiliar new world, your primary objective is now survival. Your character has no more than three Pokémon to their name, and a strange shiny rock. The Pokémon may be of any evolution level, but one MUST be able to Mega Evolve. Those stones? You got 'em for a reason.

Within the backpack, you find up to three Pokéballs containing your own Pokémon. The backpack has enough food and water to last one person roughly a week, so if you don't find more food soon you're in trouble. The more your Pokémon have to eat, the less you will last without finding a food source. Other supplies will vary on a character-by-character basis and be assigned upon the RP's beginning.

The RP begins in a forest shrouded in grey fog, which gets worse the higher in altitude you ascend. This makes an escape via flight incredibly difficult. Any Psychic types trying to teleport reappear exactly where they were, but with a nasty headache.

You'll have to hunt for food, which means trying to catch some of the unfamiliar local wildlife, scavenging for edible plants or trying to find civilization.

At any stage, the GM (that's me) may decide your character has stumbled upon another letter. If this happens, its contents will be PM'd to you – what that character does with it from that point is up to you.

Finally, the Mega Stones: Characters are each given one Mega Stone that matches a Pokémon you carry. These will not be usable as soon as the RP starts, but you will later acquire the Keystones necessary to activate them.

    Rules

    1. The GM's (That's me!) word is final.

    2. No powerplaying, godmodding, etc. Minimal bunnying should only be done with permission of the character's player.

    3. Keep in mind this RP is rated T – mild violence and romance are permitted, but heavy gore and more explicit romance are off-limits. Be sensible about what you write.

    4. Be active! Too many good RPs have died by procrastination's blade. If you are inactive for too long without prior notice, you will be given a warning. If you fail to heed the warning, your character will be removed from the RP in a manner of my choosing. It will not be pleasant.

    5. Be mindful of other players OOC. In universe, your character can be the biggest jerkwad they want to be, but out-of-character that has consequences.

    6. No characters are permitted to own Legendary Pokémon of any kind.

    7. Mega Evolutions from Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire are currently off limits, this may change as time goes on and we find out more about them.

    8. To prove you have read these rules, you must include the password, 'MY LEG!' somewhere within your signup.

    9. You may reserve a slot (and a specific mega stone) for up to three days. If you take any longer than that, the stone and character slot is up for grabs by any other player.

    10. Have fun! If you fail to have fun, bad things will happen.

    Sign-Ups

    Supplies

Each player in the RP has been allocated a small selection of supplies, found in backpacks when they wake up in the forest. For the currently accepted characters, these are...

    [Ace Trainer]
    Luke Richards
    Pokeathlon Field, Johto.

The sun had begun to set over the city of Goldenrod, cascading a deep orangey red over many of the city's windows. Both humans and Pokemon were starting to wrap up their morning activities, with Luke and his sister being no exception. They were outside the Pokeathlon, a place they return to every weekend if they could help it, facing each other on the field usually used for athletic events. The building was closing up for the day, so several trainers and Pokemon coming out of the building wouldn't be that odd of a sight to them.

Neither were anyone who wanted to watch their match, regardless of whether or not they knew them. Which they likely did. Both the Ace Trainer, and Hex Maniac had been here a plenty as kids, managing to win numerous times in the events that were hosted at the Pokeathlon. As such, it wouldn't be difficult for their reputation to precede them. Usually whenever he was crowded around, like when he shopped at Goldenrod City's famous department store, he would find the kind of chatter of trainers today, to be filled with unnecessary chatter.

The worrying about finding a date, instead of discussing battle strategies were apart of that unnecessary chatter, and sometimes made him worry about whether or not he was the only one aiming to conquer Mt.Silver, like two legendary trainers already had. But this type of crowding was different than the ones at the department store. A battle was going to take place between two interesting cliques, and those petty enough to make a quick few bucks, had offered placing bets. He hadn't paid no mind to it, and had took a glance over his sister instead.

Unlike Luke, who had clearly taken after their father when it came to appearance, and a few notable habits, his sister had taken after their mother. While she thankfully didn't wear that ridiculous cloak that was often used by the clique, she did keep the witch hat, which she was adamant would stay, much to his annoyance. His sister also rotated her team more than he did as part of some challenge kids her age liked, which was the reason why she still was only up to her fourth badge in their home region, even though it's been three years of training.

The only Pokemon she never rotated, and the only one he knew she had, was her Alakazam. It had been with her since it was an Abra, and unlike most Alakazam, the Psychic type had the hidden ability Magic Guard. That ability, combined with the Life Orb she had saved up to buy from a competitive trainer like them, made her Alakazam a force to reckoned with. Every other Pokemon on his sister's team, and they generally focused on three at a time like most trainers, she had bought online, which was pricey since they were likely from another region.

It was why she was a wildcard compared to him, just like their father was, but nevertheless, he still had seven years of experience underneath his belt. And being an Ace Trainer, he had read up on foreign Pokemon, as well as seen a few from his close friends. Anything to do with Pokemon and battling was the only way they would even get his undivided attention. When it seemed like enough people were done showing up, Luke and his sister had simultaneously reached around their backs, where their pokeballs were hidden from view of the other.

    "Light Screen!"
    "Taunt!"

Without even revealing who they were going to use, like most common trainers today, both had given orders that could be just about any Pokemon. It wasn't until a blinding flash of white light, were those Pokemon revealed by the sounds of their cries. One had been his Ampharos, who wore a light clay around his neck, the Pokemon's body jolting up with electricity from excitement as he was released. While the other had been a Skarmory, who was wearing a custap berry around it's neck, and sounded like it was chirping in happiness.

The two Pokemon had charged out in front of their trainers, carrying out their respective attacks. For his Ampharos, Aiden's arms were held out in front of his body, before a clear yellow glass box had appeared around it. Or at least, it tried to. The Pokemon was clearly struggling with the attack, and Luke felt his eyebrows furrowed, as he glanced over to the Skarmory. For it's taunt, the Pokemon was sticking it's tongue out, and bouncing around as often as he knew Spoink did. The maneuver had done it's job to distract his Pokemon from it's job.

    "Volt Switch!"
    "Spikes!"

Knowing that the Skarmory had the superior speed, and would thus almost always carry out it's attacks first, it was wiser to switch out, but not before leaving with a big bang. He watched his Ampharos nod his head at the command, the expression on Aiden's face made it clear he knew what he was dealing with, and by the swishing of the electric type's tail, Luke knew the Pokemon didn't like having to switch. Regardles, Aiden had raised his arms into the air this time, where a yellow orb of electricity had formed up above the Pokemon's hands.

Luke would briefly smirk, as he watched the Skarmory get distracted by the orb increasing in size, and had needed it's owner to tell it to focus, before it was able to carry out it's attacks. While his Ampharos attack was charging up, the Skarmory would move about in a sort of skip, before jumping into the air and spinning it's body rapidly around. Multiple glowing metallic red spikes shot out from it's body, landing around the field, but avoiding the crowd enough for what might happen to it. About the same time it had finished, so did his Ampharos.

The electric type had threw the ball of electricity onto the ground, where the force of the attack had not only make the area rumble a bit, a clear sign that a crater was going to form, but also send those red spikes shooting up into the air. An accompanying bright flash of light from the attack landing, would temporarily blind anyone who didn't shield their eyes, or were wearing sunglasses. Using his chance, Aiden had gone back to his trainer, who had shielded his eyes before the attack had launched, as he had quickly sent out another more able ally.

    "U-Turn!"
    "Stealth Rock!"

He threw another pokeball out, as the flash of light had started to disippate, and his Ampharos returned to his side. Keira, his Crobat, who was wearing a choice band, had quickly flew over to launch it's attacks. Due to the Pokemon's superior speed, and the surprise of having used Volt Switch like that, the Pokemon was able to launch it's U-turn attack, along with avoiding the jagged rocks the Skarmory had summoned up. The attack had pushed Skarmory back a bit, but not much, due to U-Turn still being weak, even with the choice band on.

The rest of the battle had been similar to what he had done with Aiden and Keira. Because of the restraints to having choice band on, he had to use Moira, his Gengar, due to Aiden not being able to pass through spikes. And with his Gengar having a choice scarf on, it meant that he would have to switch, soon after using the attack he wanted Moira to use. She was already faster than Skarmory, so the Ghost type was able to use Thunderbolt on Skarmory, who had set up more spikes by it's owner's command, due to the difference of speed.

Moira had finished Skarmory off with another Thunderbolt, since his sister was intent on maxing out the number of spikes she was able to put out, before he recalled her, and used the fainted Skarmory's tension as an advantage. Aiden and Keira had both worked together to take down Sableye, who alternated between Taunt and Foul Play, in order to stop his Ampharos in setting up Light Screen or reflect. It didn't help that the Pokemon had both recover and leftovers to heal the damage, which only complimented it's lack of weaknesses.

Moira had also dealt the finishing blow to Alakazam, who had Keira's help in fighting off the Psychic type. By the end of the battle, both sides had been exhausted from the fight, having fought the hardest for their trainers, and neither had really complained with the idea of resting in their pokeballs. After returning his team into his set of transparent pokeballs, which he had to make a special order for, Luke had joined his sister, passing a crowd of people who congratulated him on the win. He had only given a slight nod in response to their compliments.

It was unnecessary to do anything else, since there was still a high chance he would have won the match anyway. Of course, it didn't stop some people from betting against him, as he saw one Psychic trainer he knew, who was grinning as she took her prize money. While his friend was busy, he had turned to his sister, looking composed, which was a habit that was more like their mom. His sister didn't even look beat up by the loss, and instead had the usual look in her eyes, that said the loss would only be motivation for the girl to get stronger.

"Sis, you've improved since last time, but I still see you're holding back for their sake. Your Skarmory should have used spikes first, since it had the superior speed over Aiden, and every hit counts. You also should have switched after I had returned Aiden the first time, and sent in that Alakazam of yours." He had held back his tongue from making these critical comments during the battle, since she was his sister, and was still proud of her regardless of her mistakes. This was their usual talk, so he wasn't surprised to hear her make her own speech.

"I know, I know, I still got a lot to learn compared to you. You have more experience than me, and the badges to prove it." She had waved her hand in dismissal, before shooting him a playful smirk, confidence practically gleaming in her eyes as she continued. "But just you wait until the next time we battle. I'll be sure to have at least one of my own faint one of yours by then." A bold declaration, one that he was used to, yet it always made him smirk back with the same cockiness his sister gave. "I'll be sure to believe it when I see it."

    "Hn."
    "Hmph."

That was how it usually played out for them, before they would turn their attention over to the Psychic from earlier, who just insisted they have apart of the share the girl had made. It was a sixty-forty split, with the forty part being between him and his sister. Luke had always accepted it, not really being the type to openly complain, although he had always gave his sister a bit more than what he should have gotten, after his friend left. Today had actually seemed different, as the Psychic looked like she held a bit more cash than she usually did.

Under the streetlights of the Pokeathlon, which had shined enough in the darkness of what was now night, the psychic had given a toothy grin. Even before she had actually announced it, he could already guess the reason why she had a bigger flow of cash. "Heh, you wouldn't believe the amount of money that was made from the fight." She started giving the two their share, and continuing on as she did. "Guess the people here really wanted for you to be well off for your to Kanto tomorrow." The tone was more somber than it had been moments ago.

His eyes had noticed his sister's movement, after the Psychic had finished handing the Hex Maniac her share, and knew exactly what she was doing. She was going to take advantage about his lack of complaining, and give them the privacy his sister felt they needed to talk. He knew she wasn't actually going to be that far away, and while this wasn't exactly a usual thing, it did happen more often than he liked it to be. His sister's leaving had been noticed by the psychic, who had embraced him into a hug, something she didn't really do in public.

The psychic, Alexis, was the type of girl who often expressed she was carefree and without worries. At least she was on the surface. He would never be able to truly understand it, but being a psychic made you more in tune with emotions, and for Alexis, her actual opinions about the world they lived in fell under Team Plasma's beliefs. So why exactly was he one of the few that actually saw this side of her? It was just as much his fault as well though, as her beliefs were one of the times he was stubborn enough to put in effort to prove her wrong.

He accepted the embrace, wrapping his arms around her waist, where they stayed a bit longer, before she had let go of him. "You know I'm going to miss you a lot when you're gone. So you better not take as long as your sister does with getting badges." She had punched him playfully on the shoulder, that toothy grin back on her face. "I will, I promise." He had smiled back of course, since she had basically challenged him, something he wouldn't back down. Giving a slight nod, she had said her goodbyes, leaving him under the streetlights alone.

His sister had been quick to join him however, a smile on her face, as she went up to her brother. "So how did things go? Did you kiss her? Or did she kiss you?" The last bit about Alexis kissing him had been said with a playful smirk, which had earned a glare from Luke, who wasn't actually bothered by any of her theories. "Nothing, we just talked. And I think she gave me a bit more money than usual." His sister had pouted at the lack of whatever she had been imagining would happen between him and Alexis, but she had accepted it anyway.

"Fine, if that's how you want it to be." She had said with a shrug, before turning back around. "Just remember your not sleeping at the Pokemon Center tonight." As she left, Luke had let out a sigh, and he was alone for the moment, again. Turning back to look at the Pokeathlon field, he saw the opening of the crater his Aiden's Volt Switch had caused. It would be fixed tomorrow by the ground and rock type Pokemon, so it wasn't that big of a deal, even though this one seemed bigger than the last. He went over to the spot and peered down.

His eyebrows raised up briefly in surprise, as he found a dusty looking box wrapped in paper, and tied into a string, in the center of the crater. It was actually deep enough for him to dangle his legs like if he was sitting on a tree branch. What had caught his eye about it, was a single tag that beared his name. Was this another farewell gift from Alexis? Luke had picked the box up, pushing away the dust, before carefully opening it to see the contents inside. Wrapped in foam and bubble wrap was a shining stone with a double-helix structure.

The color scheme actually reminded him of Moira, and he picked it up, to find there was something else inside the box. There was an envelope with a red wax seal on it. He had opened it, curious, and read the contents of the letter. The warning about not selling it, not telling about it, and the number one on the bottom right corner, had told him what he wanted to know. This actually wasn't from Alexis. She knew who Moira was, who the letter seemed to be referring to. Firmly holding the stone, Luke had closed the box up, and got out the crater.

Whatever this thing was, he would have to think more about it tomorrow. It was getting late, and he was going to need his sleep tomorrow, for his trip to the Kanto region. For now, it was going to go inside of his bag. With that thought in mind, he had taken his leave of the area, glad he was taking his first steps in one day heading to Mt.Silver.

    Solaceon Town

    [Damien Talba]

It was a rather mild day in Solaceon Town. The sun was cloaked in a thin layer of clouds, that although didn't give the air a muggy feel, it did make the air a bit cooler. "…And I think I'm done here." Damien muttered to himself, putting his hands on his hips. He looked at various sacks of food and manure in front of him. His grandfather had asked him to stack them all in the back pen near the Miltank for easy accessibility, which was true, but the hard part was actually moving them. He turned around and saw Burr, his Timburr, going about doing his usual lollygagging. "And what're you up to?" He asked. Burr just looked at his trainer, and then after a few short moments, began to walk off again. Well…today is a rest today, so at least he's getting some exercise in. There was only so much training a Pokemon could do, even if it was a Fighting Type. Besides, to be honest, Damien didn't want to do much training either today. There was just too much work to be done around the farm.

"Hey, Damien! Did you finish stacking the bags?" A female voice approached him. Turning around, he saw his sister Carol, with Donphan following behind her.

"Uhhh…yeah, pretty much. Why?" Damien asked.

"No reason, I was just going to tell you that your snack was ready, so just come in whenever." She smiled. Damien didn't need to be told twice. Whenever there was food to be eaten, he was there. His grandma always did make the best food. Damien walked past Carol, petting the Donphan, and making his way to the house. "Grandma was busy with something, so I made food for us today." Carol said, starting to walk alongside Damien, with Donphan still following.

"What?" Damien stopped walking. "B-but grandma always makes it. She knows how I like my food made." Damien whimpered slightly.

"But you haven't even tasted it yet! At least try it before saying anything!" Carol puffed up her face, yelling at her older brother. Damien laughed a bit, putting up his hands to show he meant no harm. The last thing he wanted to do was insult her cooking, but admittedly, she was right. He could at least try it before saying anything.

    ~

"Uhhh…what is this?" Damien sat upright, staring blankly at his food, trying to make heads of what it was. Sitting there in front of him, was a bowl of brown…stuff. He dipped his spoon into the bowl and pulled out a few chunks and plopped back into the bowl. His sister grabbed her own bowl and sat down across the table from him.

"It's grandma's stew, silly. You know that!" Carol laughed and taking a spoonful of the stew and slurped it down. Ughhh…when grandma makes it, it looks good…and tastes good too. Damien let out a sour look after plopping a spoonful of the brown chunky soup into his mouth. He chewed what seemed to be meat chunks and vegetables, but the whole thing tasted…bland. Well…at least it doesn't really taste bad. If given the choice, he would definitely take no taste over bad taste. "Oh yeah, something came for you today in the mail. I put in your room. It sort of looked like a gift. You have a secret admirer maybe?" She said, putting another spoonful in her mouth.

"Admirer? Yeah, right." Damien looked down at his bowl. A package for him was strange, but it was anything too new. People from school used to send him trick packages with junk in them all the time to tease him, so maybe that started up again? "I'm going to go see what it is." With that, Damien, left his bowl and gulped down the mug of milk next to it and ran up stairs to his room. He whipped open the door and saw the package lying on his bed. "Huh. It's sort of dusty." He picked it up, trying to rattle whatever was inside. He placed it back on the bed, and ripped of the nametag attached, and opened up the lid. Rummaging through the bubble wrap, was a spherical stone, with a double-helix formation inside. It truly was odd, as Damien had never seen one like it before. Examining them further, he found the note saying not to sell it. Sell it? Huh, never thought about that. He eventually put the stone in a drawer in the nightstand near him, and then jumped onto the bed, lying down while string at the ceiling. It was a slow day, so he wanted to make the most of it...by sleeping all day.

Lumiose put Goldenrod to shame. Back home in Johto, it was considered the largest city they had, but this sprawling metropolis easily dwarfed the city of her youth with towers that reached into the sky, so high Moxie was sure that they could touch the stars. It was all she could do to stop drool from dripping out of her mouth in awe, barring her eyes against the blaring sun as she stood up on the tips of her toes in an attempt to see the top of Prism Tower, where she was told a Gym leader was waiting for her. She had her doubts about that information.

It had taken her quite a while to reach the center of the magnificent city, although it should've been a quick easy walk down a random street. Actually, it wasn't that hard to navigate, but she had been caught up with all the beautiful shops and cafés along the way, enticing her into their depths. She was humbled to say that the amount of money she had brought with her was split in half, a result of all her careless spending. She definitely would've spent more, if Xavier had not calmly placed a hand on her arm, their way of relaying whatever message the other so desperately needed to hear, this one being "Slow down, or we won't have money for food.". Mox had dipped her head in shame, twirling a lock of her brand new haircut around her index finger and staring longingly at the wares of a shop she had wandered into, which just so happened to be a very fashionable Boutique. It pained her, deep in her heart, to leave the pleated skirt she had been inspecting.

It took another hand on her arm to finally urge Moxie forward and into the Gym, which surprised her with an elevator. In the past, elevators had been proven to not be her friends, and she hadn't been in one Gym with them in it. This would probably prove to be more of a challenge than whatever Clemont had whipped up for her.

"Why couldn't it be stairs?" She grumbled under her breath, staring up at her two Pokémon, the only two that she had taken from her home region, the rest probably released into the wild by her mom by now. She had another, born and bred right here in the Kalos region, but he was tucked away in her bag, in time out for trying to steal something from one of the shops. Gosh, why did she have to catch a Zubat? Moxie had to keep reminding herself that Crobats were awesome, and that was the reason. Honestly, she could do without a Crobat if it was going to cause trouble, but she would never actually bring herself to get rid of the darned thing, no matter how many times he stole something and she had to go crawling back to apologize. It was embarrassing!

There she was, rambling inside her mind again. Firn nudged her, taking over Xavier's role, as the Gallade was too busy gazing at himself in the reflective panels of the floor. Moxie rolled her eyes, grasping the dual type's "hand" in her own and giving a sharp whistle for the other to follow, stepping into the dreaded death machine with her eyes closed. It wasn't too bad, she told herself, not daring to crack an eye open as the trio made their way up. When the contraption stopped, sliding smoothly into a still instead of the jolt she was used to, she sighed in relief.

"That wasn't so bad." She repeated her earlier thought, reassured to know that she was right about something for once.

"Hey trainer!" An annoyingly squeaky voice snapped her out of the reverie she always seemed to retract into, attracting her attention down to a little girl, maybe a mite taller than Xavier when he was a Kirlia, who stood there with a glint in her eye that Moxie only hoped was determination, she didn't deal well with mischievous. Moxie thinned her lips and nodded, letting the toddler know that all eyes and ears were on her, she looked like she'd be the type to throw a temper tantrum if even one person's mind strayed. Moxie didn't like her, which might be a rude thing to think, given how young she looked. "You must be here to challenge the Gym leader, who, by the way, is my brother! He's not that strong but he can still kick your butt!" Moxie resisted the urge to crack a smile, looking from Firn to Xavier, who had taken their places at her sides: Xavier on the left and Firn on the right. They didn't seem to think it as funny as she did, looking around the place. When their trainer followed suit, she noticed the Gym was set up reminiscent of a game show, complete with curtains and everything.

A small "hmmph" took her back to the present, and the little unlikable child stamping her foot.

"I'm Bonnie, and you'll have to get through me first!" Moxie had no doubt how easy that would be, barely listening as Bonnie ushered her over to a stand, positioning herself next to the challenger on a slightly raised platform. "Okay," She started, taking a deep breath. "the rules are simple: I give you a shadow of a Pokémon and three choices, you have to choose one and go up to the trainer with that corresponding number." On cue, the three trainers waved, wearing faked smiles. Moxie returned the favor. "Clemont bent the rules a little," Bonnie mumbled something about her brother being stupid under her breath. "So, if you get it right: ding ding ding! You don't get to battle! Get it wrong, and you do! Sound fair?" Before the challenger could answer, a black outline appeared on the previously blank screen in front of her.

"Alright, who's that Pokémon? Emolga, Dedenne, or Pikachu?" Easy, Moxie easily knew that outline anywhere, the subject of her favorite show every Saturday morning. She stepped towards the third choice, rubbing her sweaty palms together, nervous even though she was sure she was about to pick the correct answer. She didn't like everyone staring at her like that: urging her to make a mistake, judging her.

"You're sure?" The boy asked, Moxie nodded, holding her breath in as she directed her eyes to the screen above him. When the flashing of a huge green 'O' showed up, she let it out, smiling as the trainer let her and her Pokémon pass, shrinking back at the sheer size of her Abomasnow as he squeezed into the tiny container. It was hard to be afraid of the jostling elevator when you're smushed against the wall by a ton of cold fat.

It became routine after that. The questions weren't hard at all, product of a little girl's brain. Moxie breezed by almost all of them (stuck on the Fletchling shadow), earning a glare as she advanced upon the Gym leader himself.

"Alright," Bonnie said, attempting a menacing glare. Moxie just stared at her until she backed down, grumbling to herself. "fine, but my brother's still going to kick your butt." She highly doubted that. Clemont was the equivalent of a geeky little boy who had no idea what he was doing. Wow, what it just Moxie, or was she getting meaner by the second? She inwardly scolded herself, saying that she shouldn't underestimate the poor kid just because he kept dropping his pokéballs everywhere. The third time they slipped out of his hands she bent to help, smiling as she handed them back to him. He ducked his head many times in thanks, making her snort a little, which she held behind her hand.

"I'm Clemont, the leader of this Gym. I guess you're here to challenge me, huh?" Moxie nodded, pursing her lips as she dwelt on the decision to speak or not, she went with the latter, grabbing her worst mon's ball and releasing him.

"Alright, Dracula," She cooed as he came out, flapping around wildly, hardly an elegant appearance. He still had a bit of training to do though, and couldn't be expected to have a cool battle stance like Xavier or an intimidating roar like Firn. Moxie hadn't the slightest idea what a Zubat could do to be elegant.

To get the party started, Clemont sent out another Pokémon that she had never seen before, another to add to the list. She gazed at the electric mouse curiously, trying to lay a hand on her Zubat in the hopes he'd still a little, but to no avail. He was still zipping about and making a chattering noise that would no doubt give everyone in the vicinity a headache, but they needn't worry. As soon as her opponent went to make a move she recalled him, sending her faithful Gallade into battle. As soon as he stepped foot out there, the battle started.

    "Emolga, Aerial Ace!"
    "Cut!"

Xavier charged the Emolga, lifting the edge of his razor sharp arm and bringing it down on air, the speedier Pokémon swiping underneath his wideset legs and dealing a barely damaging blow to his back. Mox wasn't sure what Clemont was trying to accomplish here, but if he was aiming for making the stronger trainee mad, he was exceeding.

The two trainers hashed out another set of commands, none planned out too well. Moxie had ordered Xav to cut, and keep cutting, until the other gave up, and so far those hasty orders had been working well. Despite the smaller 'mon being faster, the larger was efficiently beating it down to the point that it could not get a move in. She gazed cockily at the Gym leader, pulling out his hair in frustration as he yelled useless commands, crying out when his Pokémon finally fainted. In the moment he spent mourning over his defeated Emolga, Moxie swept her eyes over her panting Gallade, looking for anything out of the ordinary. Although he had hardly been dealt any damage, he was sitting shock still and staring off into the distance as if he had seen something horrifying, making his concerned trainer purse her lips. She grasped at his green arm, careful not to touch the outer part, and led him over to the sidelines. Alright, she'd be working with Firn from this point forward.

She called her Abomasnow forward as Clemont sent out his second Pokémon, a Magneton. Firn drug himself slowly up to the battlefield, clearly not a very speedy 'mon either.

    "Wood Hammer!"
    "Thunderbolt!"

Firn raised his arm above his head, shuffling forward to ready himself to bring it down upon his enemy, but the move was cut off as a bolt of electricity struck him, causing him to lower his arm in a split second of confusion, but not for long. Still, he advanced, slapping the Magneton onto the ground in a flurry of random leaves, it didn't get back up.

The last Pokémon Clemont had was defeated in much the same matter, no problem her Abomasnow couldn't handle. And since neither had the ability Static, Firn was pretty much free from the effects his teammate had suffered.

"You beat me, fair and square," Clemont spoke, a large smile pasted on his goofy face, so different from the scowl that adorned his sister's, standing beside him and still grumbling to herself. Moxie risked a smirk, only making Bonnie's face crimp further. She'd have wrinkles if she didn't stop all that frowning. "Here's your Badge." The Gym leader pushed an irregular piece of metal into her hand, proof that she had won. "You can take that elevator over there down." At the mention of an elevator, she paled.

"Um, actually, do you have stairs?" Clemont looked surprised that she had talked, nodding and pointed to the corner, where the start of a few steps could be seen peeking out from the floor. "Thank you." She whispered, almost inaudibly, pulling Xavier behind her in his dazed state as they descended five flights.

As soon as Moxie burst back through the opening to the outside world, she smiled, jumping up and down in glee as she rolled the little commemoration in her palm. To her, it was more than just a badge, it was a reminder that she had yet faced another Gym, despite her fears in doing so. Before entering the nearby Pokécenter to wake doofus up, she tucked the shiny medal into her Badge Case, complete with all eight from back home and the few she had so far, brushing a finger over the first she had ever won and smiling. Snapping it closed, she skipped inside the red building, handing her Pokémon over to the grinning nurse at the front desk, and then receiving them back like she had done over and over again. Although the new region was strange and unfamiliar, Moxie could always count on the reliability of any Nurse Joy.

Letting Xavier out of the ball he hated so much, she pulled him into hug, then did the same with Firn.

"How about we go get a drink in honor of our good work?" Her Pokémon sounded in agreement, strutting through the streets to the first café that caught her eye, bright red against the dreary backdrop of gray. When they entered, she was surprised to find no one there but a few tumbleweeds, the place obviously deserted as she looked around, nothing there but a small package placed on the counter, where you'd normally order drinks. Moxie approached it curiously, turning the brown paper around in her delicately small hands, blowing a bit of dust off the top of it. "This has been here a long time, huh?" She looked back at her team, shrugging at the same time. "I wonder who left it here."

She picked up the tag attached to it, blanching a bit when she recognized her name, her current name. Tears pricked her eyes as she tore the side of it open, taking the top off and picking up each of the items inside: a letter and... a strange stone. Moxie turned the small thing, no bigger than a pebble, around in the dull light emanating from the opening of the deserted building. It had a strange pattern, like that of DNA, surrounded by brilliant greens and white. She looked again at Firn and Xavier, and once again received shrugs, shrugging herself as she tore open the letter and read it aloud.

"Hey, a present for you and your friend." What friend? "Even though it looks valuable, don't sell it. ...Well, we are short on money right now." She joked, shaking her head at her stupidity and finishing. "Let no one else know about it. Please." Moxie's brow furrowed in unveiled curiosity, returning the letter to it's envelope and staring intently into the transparency of the orb, shimmering in the waning daylight. Suddenly, she snapped up, startling both her Pokémon, slipping the round shape into her bra, where she knew it'd never get lost.

"Well," She cleared her throat. "this looks as good a place as any to spend the night."

    Daniel Archman

    Cinnabar Island - Evening

It was getting late by the time Daniel's ferry arrived back at Cinnabar Island. Once a proud scientific establishment and holiday spot, the eruption of its volcano several years back had led to it becoming a deserted island. The only building that had escaped the destructive power of the mountain was the Pokémon Centre, which remained in business solely for intrepid hikers aiming to scale the volcano and challengers for Blaine's gym coming from western Kanto.

Daniel found the peace and quiet of the island relaxing, even if the mood of the place was a little sombre. He'd originally come here just as a pit stop on his way through to the gym, but there was something hauntingly beautiful about the mountain that had wiped out an entire island settlement in little more than a few hours. The fact that nature had so much power was just… breathtaking.

He'd lost his battle, of course. No sane man would ever bring only three Pokémon to battle their seventh Gym Leader, especially not when one of them had a type advantage. What was he thinking? He ended forfeited before Aster was even sent in, already knowing the Venusaur had a snowball's chance in hell of surviving the battle.

Daniel strode through the doors of the Pokémon Centre, pausing to glance at the state of it. It was almost completely empty, with the top floor's communication centre deserted and the bottom counter occupied only by a single nurse. She was asleep at the counter.

Done examining his surroundings, he approached the counter. There was a small bell on it with a note saying, 'ring for service'. He hesitated for a moment, and then rang the bell. The nurse jolted awake at the sudden noise, looking around a moment in a daze before she realised he was there.
"Uh… welcome! Would you like me to heal your Pokémon?" she asked, with a look on her face pleading for him to not report her to management. Daniel nodded, handing over Alpha and Lucy's Pokéballs.

"You'll have to wait a few minutes, our machine's a little slower than most and management can't be bothered paying to fix it since no one ever visits." She still looked a little bewildered. Was having a visitor really that surprising?

Daniel nodded. "Mind if I wait outside a little while? I mean, it's not like I'm missing anything in here…" Without waiting for the nurse's approval, he walked out of the Pokémon Centre. He turned towards the volcano and gaped. The titanic mountain was bathed in an orange glow, a huge golden rock in front of a vast, pink sky. The view was jaw dropping.

…Wait a minute, what was that? A small square shape stood out amongst the rough-hewn rock, maybe ten metres up its slope. It was hard to see what it was exactly, but it was clearly man-made. Had someone left it behind on a hiking trip?

Daniel reached into his pocket, withdrawing a Pokéball and summoning Aster.

"Hey, Aster. Would you mind getting that for me?" he asked, pointing at the object. The Venusaur just rolled his eyes, planting himself firmly on the ground and basking in the last of the evening's rays of sunlight. Evidently he wasn't getting any help from his Pokémon.

"Fine - I'll do it myself, lazy." After a few moments of careful observation, Daniel began to climb. By the time he reached the object, his jeans and jacket were absolutely filthy, covered in volcanic dust.
He picked up the object. It was a small box, wrapped in paper and tied with string. With it in his grasp, he carefully made his way back down the mountain before re-entering the Pokémon Centre. Aster eventually decided to get up and follow him.

"Thanks for waiting!" said the nurse the moment he walked through the door, "Your Pokémon have been restored to full health."

Daniel walked up to the counter, nodding as he took back the Pokéballs containing his Pokémon with his free hand.

"Is there any accommodation available here?" he inquired. The nurse nodded. "Good, it's getting late and I don't think I'll make it anywhere else."

He released his Pokémon as he sat down at a table, taking another look at the package. Lucy jumped up on the seat beside him, peering at the box intently. Alpha stayed on the ground, possessing no real means of vertical elevation. It was probably a little moody after taking that Close Combat to the face earlier.

"This is pretty dusty…" Daniel noted as he examined the box further. "Exactly how long was it on that volcano for?" He read the small nametag.

"Wait, is this addressed to me?" He said aloud, more than a little unnerved.

He quickly untied the string, removing both it and the paper, before gingerly removing the lid. His eyes were immediately drawn to the stone within, a pretty little thing that sparkled as he examined it. It was a pale blue, accented with a pink and cyan double-helix pattern in the centre. It looked precious.

He handed it over to Lucy as he picked up the other object within the box – an envelope closed with a red wax seal. Carefully, he opened it, almost afraid to damage the paper. The letter inside (marked with the number 1) was vague and not at all helpful, informing him that it was a gift and should be kept secret. He abruptly took the stone back from Lucy, who whined in complaint as he placed it in an inner pocket of his jacket before zipping it up.

"Well," he said, "This is interesting."

    Returning Home

The cool, salty ocean breeze was what he had missed the most. He closed his eyes as it blew through his hair, and across his face. His face was bathed in the reddening glow of sunset; there would be clear weather for a few days at least. He took a step forward on the old wooden pier, and looked down through the crystal clear water at the Magicarp and Goldeen lazily flitting around below. He had often fished here with his father. Oh, how he relished in those times...

But there wasn't time for that. He was nearly home. Nearly to Canalave City, home of many a sailor, himself included. Chris nearly ran past the gate guard as he finally entered his hometown, and was greeted with all the familiar sights and sounds.

A boat's horn as it approached shore; the shout of burly men as they unloaded the day's catch; the harsh cawing of hungry Wingull; the creaking of the drawbridge that spanned the entrance to the harbor... It was like music. As he walked down the main avenue, he caught snatches of lively singing from the nearby tavern, the local hangout for sailors currently off the job. The smell, though... That was what he liked best.

Yet before he could once again pull in all the sights, he was at his front door. He hadn't told his parents that he was returning. He wanted it to be a surprise. Taking a deep breath, steeling himself for the encounter, which was most likely to be quite emotional, thanks to his mother, he pushed open the front door, his warm home welcoming him.

The telltale sounds and smells coming from the kitchen told him that dinner was on, and he was drawn towards it. He hadn't had a good, home-cooked meal since... Well, since he had left home two years ago. He dropped his bag in the hall as he entered the dual kitchen slash dining room, and as he expected, his mother was reverently working at the stove. What he hadn't expected to see, though, was his father sitting at the table. In a wheelchair. As if on queue, his father looked up, and a grin slowly spread over his face.

"Chris, my boy! So you finally decided to come home, eh?" His father was ever the loud man, and whatever had happened in Chris's absence had not cowed a single decibel of his booming voice. A clattering could be heard from the kitchen as Chris returned his father's grin, and before he could turn, his mother's arms were around him.

His mother was a short, stout woman, and came from a family on the complete other side of the world, a place called Lillycove in the Hoenn region. His father had met her during one of his sailing escapades, and it had been love at first sight. Her hair was beginning to grey a little, and her face was as happy as it had ever been. She gave him the usual motherly lecture on how he looked like he was half-starving and hadn't washed in weeks, and made a halfhearted promise to never let him leave home if he didn't go take a shower right this instant, and then come down for a hearty dinner.

The meal was delicious. Between the forkfuls of fish and scratch-made chili, he learned that his father had lost his leg in a rigging accident about a year ago, but had recovered quickly, and seemed to still want to pursue his job as a boatswain. His mother insisted on him telling them everything about where he had been, what he had done... All in all, it was the best dinner he'd had in a long time.

He soon found himself in his room, though, as the dusk finally dimmed to true night, and the docks slowly settled to a lull of sleeping ships, ready for the next day's work. He flopped down onto his bed, and was instantly up again as his head landed on a box. He hadn't noticed it, and aside from the hazy outline of his unruly hair, it was covered in dust. He picked up the slightly crushed package, turning it over a few times before realizing that it was completely unmarked. It didn't even have his name on it. This was most strange...

Yet still he opened it, using the small penknife on his desk, and slowly withdrew a strange stone. The interior almost had an appearance to... No, it wasn't possible that a Lucario design could be natural. This was obviously some hoax. He would not be surprised that one of his friends had heard of his return and had planted the package... Oh well.

He set the stone down on his desk, and tossed the now mutilated box into his trash bin. However, a sealed letter fluttered out while it was in the air, landing perfectly flat on the floor. Bending to pick it up, Chrus felt his pulse quicken slightly. There was no way this couldn't be a hoax, right? However, something about the letter inside seemed to radiate seriousness. There was no joke here. The letter read:

Hey, a present for you and your friend. Even though it looks valuable, don't sell it. Let no-one else know about it. Please.

It was unsigned, unless the number one in the bottom-right corner could be counted as one. Chris yawned, and blinked a few times. No matter. He could do some research in the morning on the strange stone.

And so, when Chris flopped onto his bed once more, he was almost instantly asleep.

    for him.

    I'm trash.

Even though the day brought no spark of inspiration to help Hector with his plans to deal with the Mosdeep City Gym Leaders, the way wasn't a waste. In fact, it was pretty productive. Lilycove was a city completely blessed by not only by the gigantic mall that towered above the people, but it was also gifted with the Pokemon Contest hall located at the southern part of the city.

Pokemon contests brought coordinators, who heavily depended on berries to create poke'block. With the combination of the contest hall and the gigantic mall, Lilycove became a home for berry vendors far and wide. Hector was basically in a pokemon doctor paradise because he could create medicine with their enormous range of berries.

Hector had to admit he completely underestimated the great city of Lilycove. At the first vendor he visited, he noticed berries he had never used or seen since his days in med school. After taking a peek at the second booth, he immediately opened a notebook and reworked his plan. He crunched through the numbers and tried to move around the berry amounts, so he wouldn't become completely broke by the end of the day. He just went crazy after that.

Now he was sitting in a little cafe near the oceanside. Matthew, his Absol, was curled up under the table, while Florina, his Altaria, and Fiora, his Azumarill, were animatedly talking with exaggerated body movements while eating their lunch. On the table was an open notebook, an assortment of pens from white to black, and a cup of vanilla shake. The page he was working on was filled with notes about the berries he bought, how many he had in his possession, the medicines he could create from the berries, what he needed for to create his concoctions, and in the margins he planned the rest of his day.

    Yeah he's a bit insane.

"I'm done!" He sighed loudly. His pokemon looked up at him and he sent a smile their way. He grabbed two pokeballs from his belt and put Florina and Fiora inside. Matthew let out a tired yawn and stretched. Hector cleaned off his table, paid the table, and headed towards the direction of the gigantic mall.

    -~-
Hector flopped onto his bed and let out a tired sigh. Bags filled with berries and items he bought at the mall. Hector turned his head towards the window, and let out another sigh. He really didn't expect to see Paul there at the mall. Hector really should stopped being surprised. Ever since he declared that he would become his best friend, he had seen him a lot.

It's like Paul wanted him to open up. He constantly went up to him with his bright smile, charismatic personality, and his animated speech. Paul just didn't give up. Hector would never admit it, but he felt something. Over the course of months since has known Paul, Hector knew it was more than just initial attraction. Even his green eyes and toned body weren't enough to suppress Hector's envy of Paul.. He couldn't help, but see the parallels between Paul and him when he was younger. He still wished for that neverending charisma and cheer, but he just didn't have it in him anymore, not since that fateful day.

Honestly, if anything, Paul dazzled him with a personality so much like what use to be his. So maybe it's why Paul managed to become a plus one in Hector's plans to go see the pokemon contest. Yeah, it wasn't a date. It was just an unexpected plus one with a man he envied and felt slightly attracted towards.

    See, not a date right?

Hector shot up when he heard a knock on the door and went over to see who it was. He saw nothing, but a package through the door hole, which confused him. However, he wasn't one to turn down a free package, so he opened the door and bent down to pick up the box. He opened it to find a white and blue rock. He immediately thought of Matthew, who was now curious enough to stand and poke his leg. A letter was also included with the stone, but before he could actually finish reading it, Paul showed up.

"Ready for our date?" he smiled, one elbow on the doorway. Hector's eyes widened, and he honestly looked like a deer in headlights.

"Well crap," he thought, as he slammed the door in Paul's face.

    Dazed and Confused

It was chilly. That was the first thing that Chris noticed. Second, he hadn't fallen asleep on bare earth. He wondered if he was having a dream, and his mom had opened the window while he slept. But something about the eerie, misty forest that met his eyes as he opened them told him this was no dream.

In an instant he was up on his feet, taking in his surroundings. Nothing different on all sides... The same thin grass all around... Except for that backpack. That was something he needed to look at.

He felt his heart sink slightly as he saw the envelope on top of the pack. This was not a hoax. Someone would have to go through many troubles to move him while he slept. He was often awoken by creaky shutters in the constant ocean breeze.

Needless to say, Chris was much quicker to open the letter this time, and much more attentive to its words. Perhaps some clue to his whereabouts could be gleaned from them.

Expect more letters - the situation has become complicated. Anyway, three of your companions made the trip with you. Remember: Your supplies will last a week. The fog is too thick to navigate through via the air – good luck. Have fun.

    2

Grimacing, Chris tossed the letter aside. Useless, as he had expected. He turned to the pack, neatly laying everything out so that he could take an inventory.

Alright, so... There were his three Pokemon, apparently the ones in his box had stayed there. He had approximately 7 days' worth of bread and water, but that would have to be rationed between him and the three others; there was a solar-charged flashlight, which might be helpful, but he did have a fire type. He'd have to wait for dark to see just how powerful it was; it looked as though he had 8 bottles of Fresh Water, for if his Pokemon gut injured, but it sure wouldn't handle anything that could happen if there were wild Pokemon about in this forest; a Choice Scarf, which he wasn't too excited about; and of course, that strange stone that had accompanied the first letter. Not particularly that great of a lineup for surviving however long it would take to get his bearings.

Standing and shouldering the bag, Chris grumbled. Quite the bleak outlook. Clicking two of his Pokeballs into his belt, thank The Lord that had still been on him, he held the other in his hand for a moment before releasing the Lucario within.

Arcanus was just about as tall as he was, if you counted his tall, attentive ears, and the doglike Pokemon stared at him for a second, reading his aura, no doubt, before looking around. He took a much longer look than Chris had, thanks to his sharp eyes being able to see more, but seemed to come to the same conclusion. There was nothing distinctive around to give them bearing. Thanks to the thick mist, it was also impossible to see the sun, which meant no shadows to keep track of time or direction. Aye, their situation looked quite bleak.

With a glance at Arcanus, to somehow reassure himself that the silent Pokemon was still there, Chris chose a direction, and started walking. So long as he had Arcanus, he would know of any danger before it was immediate, and thanks to the trees, it should not be that difficult to remain going straight.

And so began Chris's life-changing adventure.

    [Ace Trainer]
    Luke Richards
    Mysterious Forest

Three flashes of light shone through the trees in the thick forest surrounded by mist, quickly dissipating, as the sources of the lights touched the ground. Several different Pokemon cries were heard, but the tone that was used, showed confusion in it. The Pokemon were huddled around their trainer, who was lying sideways on the ground asleep, his backpack nearby, and unusually stuffed. All attention was turned to this stuffed bag, while the Pokemon communicated in pokespeak, before a decision had seemed to be made, as they started to split up.

Aiden the Ampharos, and Keira the Crobat, had gone a bit deeper into the mist, while Moira the Gengar was left alone with their still sleeping trainer. It was hard to tell exactly what time of day it was, being in a forest and all, but usually Luke woke himself up on his own. Different situations called for different measures, which is why the Ghost-type had hovered over her trainer's chest, the Gengar's own shadow covering up what light had shone on Luke's face. In a blink of an eye, Moira had seeped into the shadow that was created, seemingly gone.

The shadow had still stayed however, and a moment after the Ghost-type had disappeared, Luke's body shuddered. He didn't openly groan or complain like most people would, and instead had started to rub the sleep out of his eyes, sitting his body upright as he did. The shadow underneath him moved, before the Gengar had risen out from it. "Gengar..." Even before Moira had gestured to the unusual appearance of his bag, Luke had already realized something was wrong. He and his team were supposed to be back at Violet City, resting up.

Instead, they had woken up to find themselves in some kind of forest, no doubt miles away from home. Whoever had managed to bring them here without alerting his family, had also seemed to have stuffed his bag. Those realizations, would have probably caused some kind of panic for the average person. Or for levelheaded people like himself, get them to sigh, and perhaps get anxious about figuring out what to do. Both of those however, were unnecessary indecisive things. He didn't sigh. He knew exactly what to do, for things to go his way.

Giving a slight nod to the Ghost-type as a sign of thanks, Luke had gone over to the stuffed bag, and opened it up. There were an assortment of items inside that were carefully placed, and all of which were notable. What had caught his eye however, was another one of those envelopes with the special seal. Not only did it explain who had sent him here, but that the person was going to continue communicating with him. Opening the letter up had confirmed that, and flight not being his way out of this forest. He slipped the letter into his pocket.

The rest of what was in his bag were 7 days' worth of bread and water, a pillow, five Hyper Potions, and an Expert Belt. It was clear whoever had taken him and his team here, they were expecting to keep them here for awhile, if the warning about the food likely lasting for only a weak, had meant anything at all. Luke took that as a challenge. Now that he knew this mysterious person, or perhaps even people were watching, he wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of what they might be expecting. Weakness. Fear. Insanity. Either of those.

Having Hyper Potions and bottles of Fresh Water would help, but the Expert Belt would be pretty much useless for his team, compared to what they were equipped with before. As he carefully pulled it out however, his attention had turned to the sounds of light footsteps and beating wings. Luke had already knew Aiden and Keira must have taken one of the paths in the area they were in to scout ahead. It was what they were trained to do since the days of Pokeathlon. The two Pokemon were both greeted by their Gengar ally who went over.

They all communicated in pokespeak, neither one of them doing their usual habits, perhaps because of how unfamiliar and unexpected this whole situation was. It didn't take long however, before they seemed to have came to a conclusion, as attention was turned towards him. Luke held the Expert Belt out in front of him, before gesturing Aiden over to him. The Ampharos had actually complied without any air of defiance, as he wrapped the belt around the electric-type's waist. "Aiden go a bit into the mist, and keep your tail flickered."

The Pokemon gave a slight nod, before dashing back towards one path of the area they were in, although still close enough to still spot the Ampharos' back. "Keira, I want you to use Brave Bird or U-Turn, whichever gets the job done quicker, on one of these trees for wood. Moira here will light it up with Thunderbolt once you have." Both Pokemon had given slight nods in understanding, although only the Crobat had left. The Gengar had stayed with him, as he held up the stone he wasn't supposed to sell. At least this was still here.

    Mysterious Forest

    [Damien Talba]

Damien's eyes shot open. The ground was cold and filled with dew, and Damien's memory was a complete blur. He lay there, rubbing his eyes, until his memory flew back to him. I don't...remember going to sleep outside? He sat upright, looking blankly in the air around him. He was a in a forest of sorts it seemed. A really foggy one for that matter. He sat there for a few more seconds until he noticed a backpack sitting next to him. This isn't even my backpack... He grabbed the backpack, tipping it over towards him, opening the top flap. He found milk, some bread, water, and....a letter? Slowly, but cautiously, he took the letter and opened it, reading its content.

Expect more letters - the situation has become complicated. Anyway, three of your companions made the trip with you. Remember: Your supplies will last a week. The fog is too thick to navigate through via the air – good luck. Have fun.

Damien felt sick. He looked around frantically trying to see if he could find anyone, but the fog was too thick. All he wanted was to go home. "Oh man...what I'm going to do?" He muttered to himself. He then realized something. Three of my...companions? He quickly rummaged through his backpack and at the very bottom found three Pokéballs. Grabbing them into his arms, he gave them a quick toss in the air, shooting out bright streams of light, forming into the familiar Aggron, Donphan and Timburr. "Oh it's you guys!" Damien approached them, giving them a pet on the head. He felt a bit better knowing he had some familiar Pokémon with him, but it still didn't change the fact that he had no clue where he was, let alone how to escape. "Maybe we should take a look around..." Damien said, as he bent down to pet Donphan on the tusk. The big Pokémon growled playfully. "You guys don't seem to be a bit...carefree." He said, chuckling a bit. Damien stopped petting his Pokémon, as he focused his attention on the forest. "Guys, let's take a look around. Maybe if he get to a high enough place, we could take a better look at our surroundings." Damien sighed, as he picked up the backpack on the ground and put it on. He started to walk next his Pokémon, as they began to wander through the dense fog of the forest.
