    ORAS OU THREAT LIST​

    ORAS has added to the Mega Pokemons concept introduced in X/Y, and the power creep, variety of pokemons to use and so many niches running around, a threat list is a very useful tool to have while team building. While the list shouldn't be the thing that should be used start team building, it should be used as a way to finish up or polish your idea or concept that has been incorporated into the team to handle the meta-game better. The List has been divided into 4 parts (Mega's, Offensive, Defensive, Niche) and also has a section called "common cores" and "what to use". The cores section has been added so that you have an idea about how people normally build their teams around while also providing some good ideas about cores, it also helps in figuring out what kind of cores your team is extremely weak to and hence patch up the problem. What to use is where you get to know the classifications of the various Pokemons stated in the main list. It can also help you in choosing a pokemon that might the duty you want for your team (keep in mind that the pokemons listed are those that have been tried and proven successful and is in no way a complete list, but also you should keep in mind while using other pokemons that may have certain niches that it shouldn't be too specific (as in just used to beat a singular pokemon, for example claydol for landorus i or for rapid spin).

    A special thanks to the btb forum and the battle server. Anti, Elf, Archer have really been a big help and have done a super majority of the list. so yeah they are cool people

    Correction: as a pure Electric Pokemon in base form, Ampharos can't learn Draco Meteor (Draco Meteor can only be learned by natural Dragon Pokemon at max happiness, as well as a select few event Pokemon and Draco Plate Arceus).

    Other notable moves for Diggersby are U-turn, Knock Off and Fire Punch.
     
    Yeah I couple of little things I'll throw in here. For Mega Gardevoir you can add Will-o-Wisp to the list of notable support moves and for Kabutops you can put in Rapid Spin under its list of support moves.

    If I think of other shit I'll let ya know.
     
    Pretty cooool - looks pretty inclusive, only things I can spot off the top of my head, (and please correct if these are just my misinformed conjectures) besides the ones you haven't put anything under just because you haven't got to 'em yet -

    * Is Stone Edge worth mentioning on Diggersby?
    * Is Iron Head / Tail worth mentioning on Garchomp?
    * Is there a reason AV Azumarill is listed as a counter over another azumarill for mega gyarados when M Gyra is not a special attacker?
    * For Amoonguss - I think you meant Rage Powder, not just Rage. lol but if there's actually a crazy strategy that involves amoonguss and rage - I am ashamed for missing it. Also, is rage powder worth mentioning since OU is considered seperate from doubles; and rage powder has no use in singles play?

    1. Diggersby doesn't need Stone Edge; Return hits Talonflame and the Charizards hard enough already.

    2. Iron Tail is inaccurate. There isn't much of a difference between a neutral STAB Earthquake and a 2x super effective Iron Head:

    252 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Altaria: 151-178 (51.8 - 61.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

    252 Atk Garchomp Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Altaria: 162-192 (55.6 - 65.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
     
    Plus iron head only hits togekiss which is hit harder by stone edge.

    looks gr8 thanks for doing this, here are my comments:

    - remove the shitmons, esp. mega. to be specific, i would remove the following: ampharos, blastoise, camerupt, lucario, ludicolo, pidgeot, smeargle, staraptor, zygarde, audino (lol), aggron, cofagrigus, forretress, gastrodon, porygon2, seismitoad, slowking, steelix, whimsicott. maybe thundurus-t, tangrowth, bronzong and a few other more borderline mons. politoed is def/support, not offensive.

    it's not that these mons are bad (though some of them definitely are), but oras is a metagame with an oversaturation of threats. since it's a team-building resource especially for newer players, i think having these threats is both misleading and makes everything seem more daunting than it is. but no one runs most of these mons. the better ones (like slowking pidgeot blastoise tangrowth bronzong etc) might have their own section like "lesser threats" but i would not group them with everything else.

    - i would organize this roughly by usage. 1760+ stats (or w/e the cutoff is now) is best. alphabetical is convenient but has no coherent purpose, whereas usage/viability does.

    - i would also separate megas and non megas. this seems less necessary but it still makes sense to me since the mechanic restricts building.

    - to the first point, i'd make the rough cutoff of what should be on this like "ou by usage" but adding important or unique lower tier threats. the rain sweepers are a good example. also stuff like togekiss which is unique AND annoying *enough* to be noted.

    - capitalize everything.

    - i would only list relevant competitive abilities. so only sheer force for landorus, etc.

    - bold, asterisk, or otherwise visually mark STAB attacks

    - not sure about color coding the types just cause the thought of yellow electric types is painful

    - i thought it might be cool instead of the teammates things to just axe that and instead have an end section of the list where common cores of these mons were listed, ie skarm/chans, venutran, keldtar, rotomw/landt, ferro/glisc/bro, keld/lati/landt, sand core, rain core, etc. no need to go into much depth but just so people see common combos. teammates section seems a little awkward as it stands now i guess?

    i disagree with removing staraptor,aggron,cofag,bronzong. cofag see's use in tr team, aggron is a p great wall, staraptor is deadly rotom cant really wall it since it is the obligatory "bird spam check now", bronzong see's use in stall teams, checks fairies like garde p well etc

    yeah this seems cool but tbh i see threat list as a complete list where you can see all the things that can (even if niche) be dangerous to you if u havnt preped for it, and seeing as every player has to go through the lower ladder where these are more popular i think it justifies their place.

    yeah i already told this is a p good idea, i will get to it once the list is complete

    this would actually be quite helpful since it allows you to see what megas u could be weak to, will do this. offense/defense/megas and also i was thinking about removing purely support mons like smeargle etc and putting them in a separate list called support threats

    yes, i will put in the type titles from bulbapedia in

    i am implementing the changes and the info elf and everyone provided now and will probably put a updated+date tag in the title so we know if the suggestions have been updated or not.

    if we add up this usage, it adds to 2.114% usage. combined that is less than:

    this is a threat list, not a viability list. the math does not lie - these are not threats. if you want to include them for the sake of completeness, i'm not going to stop you (and you're right that it would improve the list in an objective sense - just don't want you to needlessly make too much work for yourself...x_x). but the math is just way too significant to conflate something like the latis (used on almost exactly 1/3 of teams) with mons who you are more likely to not run into than to run into if you played 50 (or many more) matches...

    you can include trick room in the "cores" part of the list though just so people are aware it exists.

    lol well anyway added the mega's division and took all the mega's (offensive/ Defensive) and put them there.
    And i shall make a sub-division called lesser threats or something (i will make an explanation in the intro about these later) and put these underused mons there, since they do have some niche how ever small
    Also is there some kind of list with all the common core that i can refer?

    there are a ton. perhaps to narrow it it might be better to focus on things that might affect teambuilding, especially trapping cores ("don't rely too much on lati/ferro" etc.), weather cores (self-explanatory), stall/defensive cores (so you know how to focus your breakers), and voltturn cores (since these tend to function as a single unit rather than as individual threats, to some degree). this would take out cores that are very good but don't need extra teambuilding consideration (ie mgarde/keld or bisharp/gar). in fact that's almost certainly what i'd do.

    thanks anti, and i shall arrange the offense section according to the usage list tomorrow or so, since i think i will be a bit free on sunday.
     
    In regards to the "Counters: N/A" stuff

    Add Scizor Mega to counters to Mega Metagross, its as near a 100% counter as you're gonna get.

    Cresselia with some sp.def evs is basically THE counter to Landorus-I too. It takes no shit from the CMer either as CM Sludge Wave fails to 2HKO and Ice Beam to 2hko it back. Claydol also walls basically all Landorus-I variations. I know it sucks but hey lol.

    Also id still call Doublade a counter to MHera because no self respecting one runs EQ lol. Also Defensive Granbull is probs as near as a good counter as you're ever going to find for MHera because of Intimidate i know its niche garbage but hey lol.
