Ages: 18
Gender: Male (Jairo) & Female (Sahn)
Races: Spider Faunus
Personality: Being part of a former pseudo-hivemind, it comes as a surprise that Jairo and Sahn's personalities are very different, conflicting even. While Jairo might be the more intelligent of the two, he is by far the most cunning, manipulative, and vengeful. Empowered by an undying thirst for human blood and suffering, he is easy to provoke and difficult to reason with. With friends and allies, he is a deceptively charismatic speaker, often using false promises, threats and coercion to forge alliances. However, he is surprisingly protective of Sahn, when it comes to matters that cannot be resolved by a good knock to the jaw. Jairo is a skilled composer, pianist, violinist and viopianist.
Once destined to be the future queen of the Xill clan, Sahn, the large and muscular sister of Jairo, now follows her brother through Remnant. Despite her lumbering and intimidating appearance, Sahn is in fact the more emphatic of the two. Being much less intelligent than her brother, she is dependent on him for assistance. Naive, obedient and loyal, she is a woman of few words and acts as her brother sees fit, rarely questioning his authority. Despite being technically the same age as Jairo, her memories only stretch for a few years back - resulting in her taking an almost childish approach on most situations if left unattended. Sworn to protect her brother with her life, she acts as Jairo's bodyguard - prioritizing his safety over everything else.
Appearance: Let's begin with this... Spider-people are not pretty.
Both Jairo and Sahn share a few traits (along with most spider faunus): Both possess rather dark skin, being deeply tanned. All of their arms, legs, and backs are lined with sparse inch-long bristles, replacing body hair entirely (aside from the head). They also both possess an extra pair of jet-black eyes on their foreheads; albeit smaller and narrower than regular eyes. Their incisor teeth are also replaced with sharp fangs, causing them to stick out a little. Their arms and legs (more noticeably in Jairo than in Sahn) are slightly disproportionately long. They both sport slow-growing jet-back hair which is dry, stiff and extremely difficult to cut.
Moving on to individual differences, a key difference between Jairo and Sahn is the amount of limbs. While Sahn possesses a normal amount of limbs, Jairo, on the other hand, owns an extra set of arms, sprouting from the sides of his ribcage. Being born with them, he has full control over them and has taught himself to play the piano and violin with them at the same time. His hairstyle is minimalist and is similar to an army cut. He is extremely weak and diminutive (standing at a mere 4 feet), resulting in him being highly agile and speedy - but easy to hurt and throw off (in the literal sense). Another key difference between him and his sister is his unique ability to eject silk from his mouth. While this ability is present in all spider faunus, it is usually dormant and unusable. However, through enough training, Jairo has managed to awaken the organs responsible for silk production, resulting in him being able to spit out globs or ropes of web at walls, people or objects. In terms of attire, Jairo does not wear too much. Aside from a quiver for his violin, he does not wear any chest clothing or armor, and prefers instead to wear a pair of old brown shorts. He is rarely seen wearing any footwear, preferring to go barefoot on Sahn's back.
The major defining factor of Sahn's appearance would be her gender. Female spider faunus are much rarer than male faunus, as a single queen can give birth to almost a hundred children. In order to fulfill this task, females are born to be naturally larger than males (and Sahn's 6'3 height is a perfect example). In addition to this, they are fed, trained and raised to become as large and powerful as they can become - which is why Sahn is extremely muscular compared to her brother. She also possesses a trait unique to females - a dislocatable jaw. Her jaw muscles are strong that a single bite from a dislocated Jaw can break the bones (If not a few teeth however) of an enemy. In terms of hairstyle, she has short, jet-black hair, which she keeps tied in a bun behind her head using a webstring band. As for clothing, she is usually seen wearing a brown iron and leather chestplate, coupled with leather pants and heavy metal boots.
Semblance: Dreadsong
It is quite uncommon for athropod faunus to possess a unique semblance, as they mostly live in close-knit communities, often led by a dictatorial king or queen as master of the hive mind. In such cases, the semblance is defined by the leader of the group and not by any of the individual members, causing them to all possess the same semblance.
This is not the case with the Xill siblings. Since their separation from their group, the duo have managed to forge a symbiotic semblance - one so powerful that if one of the two were to perish or become incapacitated, the other's would become useless and ineffective. Jairo's violin, aptly named The Black Widowmaker, is a dust-infused intrument which acts out the siblings' semblance. Dreadsong, a fast-paced, rhythmical battle piece composed by Jairo himself (inspired by battle themes of his former clan), curses everyone who hears it - both friend and foe - with a sense of fear and dread. Awakening the most primal instincts within any creature, this tune is enough to make feeble minds collapse in paranoia, and plant worry in even the most determined fighters. However, being Jairo's own creation, the theme does not affect neither him or his sister negatively. Quite the contrary; with it being a battle theme, the song is meant to empower and motivate - quite literally in Sahn's sense. While it does not have any physical alterations, hearing Dreadsong empowers Sahn with an acute burst of adrenaline and spirit, greatly increasing her pain threshold and stamina. However, Jairo has not perfected the song as of yet, meaning its effects are likely to be short and less powerful in certain situations.
However, this ability comes with a price. If the song is played for too long, the musician is prone to its effects, and in a much more acute way than other listeners, reaching the level of extreme paranoia and suicidal actions. For this reason, Jairo rarely ends the song, often stopping abruptly when he feels the job is done. Despite knowing the circumstances, the tune nonetheless has a finale - one he hopes he will never have to hear.
Weapon: Jairo's weapon is an unconventional but very durable rosewood violin, crafted by his own hand(s). Named The Black Windowmaker for its dark brown color and dust infusion, the cords and bowstring are all made of spider silk, the dust making them as strong as iron cables. The underside sports a small piano-like keyboard, which is covered by a retractable wooden lid. When playing his music, Jairo often uses 2 arms to hold and play the violin, and two to play the piano side. The bow can also be separated to reveal two small, identical twin daggers, which Jairo uses for self-defense. With the press of a button, the tip can also reveal a gun barrel which can be fired with the piano keys and reloaded from the side. It can be loaded with either regular bullets, or web cartridges which Jairo keep a few of in a small compartment in the violin too. He carries the instrument on his back in a small quiver-like bag.
Sahn, on the other hand, being far too clumsy for a weapon, wears a set of chainmail gloves with spiked brass knuckles, sharp enough to pierce most metallic armor. The spikes can be ejected a short distance and replaced if they worn out/broken, allowing for some sort of ranged ability. When not in use, she hangs the gloves in a belt around her waist.
