Sports 2016 NBA Playoffs

Western Conference Finals are going to be great.

Or the Warriors will sweep them in 4 games. You never know.

The former is already confirmed.
The latter is already dashed.

Raps were shellacked in Game 1.

Warriors dominated in Game 2.

It'd be crazy if this back and forth in the WCF keeps up. It's shaping up to be a boring ECF with how zoned in the Cavs are. It's not time to panic until you lose at home, though.

Honestly? I'm going to make two crazy predictions right here...

1. Thunder are going to beat the Warriors
2. Cavs, if Warriors make it through, will win the championship

Which kills me to declare that. My reasoning is just when Golden State won it last year they didn't have to face either San Antonio, LA, or Oklahoma City. Instead they played the Rockets, Grizzlies, and I forget the third team. Point being they never really faced a tough 7 game series with another juggernaught yet (even still with this playoff run.) Plus, when they faced the Cavs last year, that team was down two of their best players.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love the Cavs to lose and for one of the two teams in the West to win it. But the Cavs are way too into the zone right now. Yes, they've been beating up on shitty teams, but their is a lot of psychological pluses when your team hasn't lost a single playoff game yet. I'm rooting for Durant and the Thunder to win it all, but unfortunately I think the Cavs are going to win the whole thing.

Definitely crazy, IMO, but I'm going to hold off on any further rash predictions until I see games 3 and 4 in the WCF. The Warriors did just win by 27 last night, after all, and I don't think either team has played the best they can offensively in this series yet (as both teams have brilliant defense).

It can also be easily argued that the Cavs haven't really been challenged yet this postseason, either. The Thunder and Raptors are the first 50 win teams either 1 seed has faced this postseason. They're definitely zoned-in and on fire, but unless the Raptors can make a series of it, they won't be challenged until the Finals.

Records of the teams the Cavaliers have faced are/were better than the ones the Warriors have/are faced/facing. West was really weak this year, hence the record breaking amount of wins for the Warriors.

Yes. Anything less than an NBA title is a failure of a season for them.

73 wins means nothing without the title. It will always be "hey, they won 73 games (against a weak Western Conference), but they didn't win the title, so the 72 win Bulls team is better".

Well the Thunder & Raptors have certainly made the conference finals interesting if nothing else. In a sporting year with so many upsets, it would be remarkable if the trend continued with one of them winning the NBA.

It would be typical for Cleveland sports in general for the Cavs to bottle it if GSW get eliminated.

The Thunder want it more it seems. The last two games have been absolute stomps and I don't see game 6 going any differently. GS will probably win game 5 tomorrow at home in panic mode, but I 100% see them falling on elimination night in OKC. As for the ECF, the Raptors are playing well and have certainly made this an interesting series. That said, the Cavs are simply better. I expect them to get back on track tonight and win the next two games closing out the series 4-2.

I certainly hope so.

If they don't, my next post will be posting to the 2012 ECF where the Heat went up 2-0 on the Celtics, lost the next 3, and then won the next 2 to win the series.

Where they went on to face... the Oklahoma City Thunder.

I really feel like OKC vs Cavs would be a much better series in terms of storylines than GS vs Cavs. I am actually really hoping this is the finals matchup that we get. Lebron vs Durant #2 would be so much fun to watch.

Back on track. Better win game 6. I don't want 7 games of this.

I just started watching the playoffs for the first time in a while and my god has there always been so much flopping in the nba? they look like real madrid out there rofl

Four more games. Hopefully OKC can close it out tonight so game 1 is in Cleveland.

Well, Raptors are out :(

They did stand their ground well on the first two home games against the Cavs though. Couldn't watch the game this evening because I was at work so I can't really say much on how well everyone performed, I'll have to catch the highlight reels.

I walked out part way through the first quarter. :P It wasn't a pleasant game to watch - even just from a basketball perspective and not even as a Toronto fan.
