[PokeCommunity.com] VGPOTW #7: Are you ready to ROCK?!

Welcome to Video Game's Poll of the Week! Thanks to the permission of Pokemon General's moderator Brendino, Video Games will now be hosting a weekly series that pits certain video game characters, levels, and universes against other to see which one will come out on top! In last week's Poll of the Week, the Samus Aran space jumped her way over the competition in the battle for Video Game's most badass space fighter.
Expand on your answers! Tell us why you prefer one video game element over another! Posts that don't elaborate as to why specific elements were chosen will be deleted, and a warning may be given out through an infraction if it's a reoccurring issue.
If you have a matchup that you would like to see, whether between video game characters or worlds/universes, send me a VM or PM and if your matchup gets chosen then an emblem will be given out as a reward!

    Without further ado:

Which series is your favorite? Rock Band or Guitar Hero?

I legitimately never touched Rock Band. I was into Guitar Hero like the rest of my school was and nobody ever talked about Rock Band. It was basically that one new kid that comes to the school Junior year. Nobody wants to talk to that guy.

I know Rock Band was overall better in terms of longevity and play, but I never got into it and unfortunately never got to enjoy the tracks put out on those games. I don't think music games like that are even relevant anymore though, so I wouldn't go back to replay them.

Despite being a total metal head, I thought that Rock Band's focus on more all around rock over the very metal centric setlists that Guitar Hero boasts was far superior for entertainment value. Particularly, I felt that Rock Band 2 had an excellent and very interesting selection of songs. The more cinematic visuals were much more likely to give you an adrenaline rush than the super gamey looking graphics of even the later Guitar Hero games.

Both of these series introduced me to many of my favorite bands though, so I salute you, rhythm games!

To be quite honest, I never noticed much of a difference between the two, but that's probably because the only time I get a chance to play is whenever I visit my cousins' house. That said, most of my favorite songs to play come from the Rock Band series (specifically Rock Band 2, if memory serves me), and even though I sucked with the drums, I didn't mind trying them every once and a while.

I only ever played Guitar Hero! Rock Band was a bit too much of an investment, iirc, since you needed the whole set... whereas Guitar Hero for the longest time was just the guitars. Unless I'm remembering them wrong? To be honest, my brother was the one who was into GH. I played a little bit but it aggravated my wrists something fierce even just doing the Medium mode so I could never play it very much.

We did have the version of GH that had the full band set, though, now that I think about it, so I don't know why we never bothered with Rock Band? I guess maybe it just wasn't very big here.

I don't think I've played any Guitar Hero. I've only played Rock Band through the Beatles version. So, Rock Band gets my vote.

I know there was a lot different about it compared to vanilla Rock Band, but damn that game was polished to hell.

All the audio was remastered, venues were great and detailed, dreamscapes were fantastic, there was a crazy loud fan girl scream option lol, even the menus were great and filled with lots of previously unheard audio outtakes.

Plus I got the entire set (mic, Ringo's drum set, and Paul's bass), new, for the price of Rock Band 2 with just a generic guitar. So, that's a plus.

That's the one I always wanted to play. :( The Beatles are awesome.

I gotta say I preferred Rock Band. I have both Beatles Rock band and Guitar Hero but I think Rock Band was just all around better. It had the elements of Guitar Hero but you could play with 3 + other people, and there was also singing and drumming. Rock Band just felt like it was more inclusive and more of a group game which made things more fun. It also was more stylish than Guitar Hero if that makes sense?
