I have a question: These games are targeted at children, Do they really have that complx of a plot? I don't think most 10 year olds are going to be able to understand it, so why put it in?
they were original targeted at children, but secretly a lot "older" kids and even adults are playing pokemon. I have already met quite a few people who are adult and still love the pokemon games (and then I mean really LOVE the games, seeing the way they talk), even some who are 30+. no joke. so am I not hiding myself, I admit that I'm 17 year and that I LOVE the pokemon games and am still playing the games. and I think that Game Freak knows that, or at least a bit.
if you look at the first pokemon game(s?), you see that there weren't that much complot. besides the real important ones, of course, like in cinnebar mansion with the story about mew in the diaries, which became a movie. but look at the games, they haven't changed, but they have much more complot (and even slowly more story?) than the previous games. so like you said, why make those complot and stories if 10 year old children don't understand that? I think Game Freak is secretly doing that for the older people who do understand that (and are even going to think too much about it, like us).
even better, look at the pokemon mystery dungeon games. they have a great story, but will children really understand that? I don't think so, maybe most of it through the animations, but I don't think that they understand it that well. but surely not everything.
but the best reason (in my opinion), why have they put in IV and EV if children don't understand anything of it. seriously, IV/EV were already in Gold and Silver (or even in Red and Blue? I don't remember...), but I just heard about it when FireRed and LeafGreen were released. yes that late, I was 10 when I got Gold and Silver you know. of course, the main reason of IV and EV was that pokemons would never be the same, but do children care about that? I really doubt that, for them, pokemon is pokemon, they pick their favorite pokemon and fight. even without IV and EV, pokemon would be a great game. at least by the children, dunno about the "older ones".
come to think of it, anyone wondered why there aren't IV/EV in the pokemon mystery dungeon games? they could be easly added. I think that it's because there wasn't as much freedom (in terms of walking around the world, in PMD it was just chose a dungeon and find the stairs all the time). it was an easy game (beside the lvl.1 and zero isle dungeons), if IV/EV were in, then it would be a walk in the park (well, if you work much with IV/EV). then there was no fun.
phew, that was a long text. I don't want to discourage or encourage the change of a G/S remake or anything, but all I want to say is that I don't think that Game Freak still makes pokemon just for children, but also for the "older" children and adults.
I know there is but anyway lets not go down shippers lane...
I wouldnt say we are thinking to much. I think we are imagning to much. but it all comes down to this:
Why the hell put jhoto region data in-game if your not going to use it?
well, I suppose that they do that just in case if they really need it. then they have something to get money from. really, think of it, if a G/S remake is suddenly released, how many people will buy it? I bet for a hella lot. so unless the seriously plan for a remake, I think they just made it for the case they need it.
