That list needs more JoJo because women will never be able to truly comprehend the manliness of the Joestar family (yes, that even includes Jolyn).

I think you maybe don't know what I mean by 'yaoi hands'. Google that. I'm not joking, only girls seem to be fine with that.

Men and women are on even ground with a large majority of anime series but they do see the world differently on some things. I didn't think that would be controversial.

Why can't I understand Girls Und Panzer on the same level as a man, even though it's one of my most dear series?
 
I appreciate that but I am struggling to put the feeling into words. I think it's a spiritual level that goes beyond just enjoyment and understanding.

Also really happy that you like Girls und Panzer, it's one of my favs too.
 
That's really not fair though, to say that women can't reach that spiritual level beyond enjoyment and understanding, because I have reached that level with dozens of anime, including some on your list. Assuming we mean the same thing by "spiritual level", after all
 
I googled "yaoi hands" and I had no idea it was a thing...probably because I don't read yaoi. So that's at least two women who don't get it now. xD

The only thing I can think of that I might understand on a different level is fanservice, particularly that which is aimed toward straight men(and perhaps lesbians too, idk). I often recognize it(though not always), but I don't care for it or appreciate it in the way it was likely intended. Thus I suppose that could be considered understanding it on a different level.

However I don't think that's what you're getting at. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think the gist of your argument is that men and women simply can't comprehend relationships that exclusively involve the opposite gender(or perhaps even mixed relationships from the POV of the opposite gender). I don't agree with this at all, but I suppose it would be an interesting topic to debate.

I don't think I've ever experienced anything like that, I just watch anime because it's entertaining. xD

Basically, the point I'm gathering from this is that calling something the "spirit of men" is basically a way to say "these dudes are close enough that they would totally go gay for each other" without actually saying that they would go gay for each other? (half-sarcastic here, FYI, though everyone needs to have that one friend they're close enough with that they'd seriously contemplate going gay for) In all seriousness, "spirit of men" is some vague concept bullshit labeling when you really mean camaraderie but want to intentionally exclude women.

RE: Mecha: I find robots cool, but I find them cool independently of what I identify as and what exists (or doesn't) between my legs. And I don't find all robots cool.

I mean, there are plenty of gay dudes who are probably into it. And yaoi hands are one of the equivalents to things like exaggerated boob proportions in stuff that panders to people into females. There are some people for whom their kinks are a thing that they can never have enough of, and for some that includes hands. like straight dudes and their obsession with their own toolkit and the toolkits of other males, for instance

Also specifically regarding the idol anime mention in the OP, legitimately 90% of the idol anime fans I've met offline were female, most of whom were into females. Women definitely understand idol anime on a level on par with men. Hikikomori NEETs don't count, as they're using idol anime as a substitute for any human contact.

Affinity is a good way of putting it, but with the entire production. Not just characters.

@don - I don't think yaoihands is a thing done on purpose. It's just that a lot of yaoi is fan produced stuff with little quality control.
