[Sword & Shield] Anyone else find Repels useless in these games?

Does anyone else find Repels useless in this generation? Considering you can pretty much avoid Pokemon encounters by stepping away from the ones that appear in the overworld, I've never even once used a Repel in Sword/Shield. Except for one time to see if it does much of anything. I don't think it does, really.

That's true, and it's something I thought about ages back in passing. I wonder how they could be adapted to have more use...

gosh yes. the fact that they don't repel overworld encounters just...doesn't make sense. :( i pretty much never use them anymore because of that, plus it's easy enough to avoid the exclamation marks in the grass so you don't encounter anything.

It'd be pretty easy, honestly, just make pokemon run away from you when you have it active.
