    hey everyone!! so berries are pretty nifty things in pokemon, existing ever since gen 2. they can do a variety of things depending on the berry, such as decrease EVs, increase happiness, restore PP, etc. because pokemon don't know how to heal themselves with super potions and whatnot (at least, that's the explanation given), berries are usually the to-go held items for whenever your pokemon is in a tight spot and needs some sort of recovery (for the most part).

    what kind of berries did you let your pokemon hold, typically? have you ever used berries much?

    Never used berries much as held items initially. Healed too little. Favored offensive items like Mystic Water. Warmed up to berries for survival purposes. Sticks with Sitrus and Lum, mainly the former.

    Turns to berries for cheap out-of-combat healing, depending on the game. Showers you with easy berries in Sun/Moon. Tops everyone up with Sitrus occasionally. Pulls out Leppas in Sun/Moon for SOS chains, especially for Ditto farming.

    Appreciates happiness berries for quick happiness bursts. Hands them a Soothe Bell. Stuffs their face with happiness berries. Crosses the necessary threshold in a flash. Filled the Pokedex like that.

    Sings praises for the Juice Shoppe in X/Y during some challenge runs. Works best with consistent teams and breaks between main play sessions. Mixes two 32 Effort Value juices a day (hopefully, plus whatever is on sale). Supercharges Pokemon with dangerous tasks. (Example: Speed for a solo Castform. Feared being outsped by Mienshao (Lysandre) and Hawlucha (Diantha) on Turn 1. Threatened one-shots with High Jump Kick. Had to overcome base 105 and 118 Speed with base 70 Speed plus levels.)

    The only berries are useful to me are sitrus and lum as they all you need and sitrus heals more than oran and less risky to use berries that tend to be disliked.

    Barely ever used berries until Gen 6 when they made it super fun and easy to plant and make gardens out of them. My thought process as a child was that "I have like 73 Potions why would I need to equip berries lol"

    bro berries can be lifesavers in some challenges. comin in clutch. i used to be obsessed w planting berries when i was a kid, too. like i always enjoyed that you could plant and grow them in RSE, but naturally i was really upset when my batteries dried up and the clock didn't work. i got a japanese sapphire a few years back that has a working battery and it was so fun to be able to grow them again. i really relied on them in that run too bc i can't read japanese lksdjfal and the icons for items weren't added until FRLG so whewww. lol saved me a lot of trouble.

    I used them often in the early days of GSC and RSE! But that was only at first ahaha. Later on I got lazy and stopped equipping them. They'd be super useful in challenge runs though, but I don't tend to find myself using them much anymore, especially when I tend to pick up tons of healing and status removal items. @_@;
