I remember when Mail Order Brides where a big hit with poeple. It's so odd to think of, buying and selling people for 'happiness'

Has anyone seen the show 90 Day Fiance on TLC? Reminds me of the whole mail order bride situation, but not really because apparently they met once and decided they were soulmates \: Only seen one episode so I have no idea what goes on.

While I myself am not against prostitution per se, I just think it's on the...weird side. I don't see exactly how having sex for money is supposed to work.

Funny enough, in my final semester at community college, we were doing persuasive presentations and one was on banning prostitution, and the other was for allowing it.

lol Zach

Like I said before, I'm not a fan of money for sex (not that I'm against it being legal). For me there's got to be some connection before I **** someone, in all honesty. :p

It is the oldest profession for a reason. Whether or not it's legal or not, it will happen. It'd be best to legalize it, make sure everyone's clean and safe. I feel the same about pot too, tbh.

Well, people already have sex for money... it's just on camera. =P so why not off camera?

If prostitution is legalized, it doesn't have to be as sneaky and "dirty" either. I'm pretty sure prostitutes get regular screening and such for STDs, and if anything bad happens on the job, it's much easier and cleaner to settle if the two parties aren't like sneaking around.

I dunno I think the only reason it's not legal in some places is because a lot of people are just personally uncomfortable with it and don't agree with it. If someone wants to sell sex for money, and another person wants to pay for sex, what's the issue? Especially when a legal job helps to protect them from STDs and whatnot, so it's kept relatively clean. (at least I'm pretty sure, don't quote me on this)

The only problem I have with prostitution is that too many people force or coerce others into the profession. As a voluntaryist, that just doesn't fly with me, which is why I don't partake the services of the profession, because I don't yet have a way of knowing whether or not someone is a sex worker voluntarily.

I could care less if prostitution is legal or not, It won't affect me. After all I will, at no point in the future, pay someone I don't know so I could have... you know what... with them. Although I find it horribly immoral.

We saw how that backfired. Pot is illegal for a reason, it would be like legalizing cutting. Do you want to legalize that?

I've always said that maybe if it were legal, it would take some of the rebellious thrill away from some of the kids who get into it to be cool. :/

Aha, probably... it would most likely at first be like AWWW YEEE LEGALIZED HOORAAAY

but then after a while it might lose its excitement. .-.

You're much too young to be ****ing anyone, mate. :c

In all honesty I'm not so sure about that. 16 is the 'legal' age for that here, so even if 15 is a little on the young side I wouldn't go so far as to say "much too young". I think I prefer to let people think for themselves and decide when they're ready than try to dictate it for them.

Aww Dipu, I'm sorry. Do I seem a little too immature for that? :<

About pot, hmm…
Well, my father is a big-time dopehead and smokes pot on a daily basis (from what I smelt while living with him). Whenever he'd have a problem with me he'd go get high and take out his anger in a fit of frustration on me. Take what you will of that.

Yee I suppose if people choose to do it at a young age, that is their choice, as long as they are educated and careful. I just don't like that most younger people aren't educated and careful. ;__; Or mature enough for the emotional toll I suppose. Or "mature" enough (using the word loosely here) to even be in the right mind to properly consent.

Well, everyone reacts to it differently. Most people I know just get the complete opposite - incredibly chill. ;P But I've also heard it makes some people very paranoid and on edge.

You often hear about this "emotional toll" but I really think people boost that up to be a bigger deal than it actually is. I don't really recall an emotional toll after my first time at 17. I think it's just a deterrent that adults conjured out of nothing lol

I think the emotional toll tends to happen more with women, tbqh. Of course, with gay culture I'm not sure of the differences, but women tend to put sex on a more emotional level than men.

It was legalized I one state (Colorado I think?) and there were several deaths as a result of overdoses. I can't remember the exact number but It was over 100. (This is why I never go to Discussions and Debates.) The point being, more people died as a result of pot being legalized than when it was illegal.

I live in Colorado, and I can tell you no such thing has happened. Where did you hear such things?
